Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Yong Tau Fu

I have been wanting to try this place for quite  a while then suddenly the chance came today. I was glad it was still opened. I ordered the Wantan Mee which was the cheapest in the world at a mere RM 3 but came served with a lot of spring onions, bean sprouts and even fish cake and salad vegetables.

Each piece of yong tau foo costs  RM 1.30 per piece. I ordered ladies fingers, chilli, brown tofu. I also ordered the Oyster Sauce Lettuce (RM 6) which was quite tasty with enough sauce liberally placed on top.

The sugarcane drinks cost RM 2 per glass only.

The entire meal came up to RM 26.60 for 2 pax.

I am definitely coming back here again with the reasonable price, clean place and delicious food.

Hock Kee Ulu Yam Loh Mee Smile Nov 02, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

I was so busy with my work at home so we just went for quick lunch this Sunday afternoon. We were looking for the beef noodle hawker but they were no longer opened. So we tried the Ulu Yam Loh Mee on the way and parked nearby. Now that I knew they actually have a branch here, this meant that we do not need to go all the way to Puchong to try this like how I had a meal with my parents here.

I ordered the Ulu Yam Loh Mee (RM 6.50), small,  which was quite tasty with measly cabbage inside. It goes well with vinegar which can be used liberally with raw garlic.

We ordered the Fried Rice (RM 6) which came in a very big portion. It has finely chopped long beans, shredded carrots and prawns. The rice was so much that we could not finish the fried rice.

We also ordered Snake Beans with delicious fragrant deep fried pork (RM 13). Although I am not a pork lover, I find myself liking this dish including the pork.

The herbal tea cost about RM 2.60 each.

Din Tai Fung Smile Nov 02, 2015
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles | Dim sum

The last time I came to Din Tai Fung was at Mid Valley during my university days with my parents. I last remembered the food to be not that special and not having so many varieties. Anyway, since my friend spoke highly of this Din Tai Fung in 1 Utama and that every time he comes here, he never fails to dine here, I thought there was no harm giving this a try.

Din Tai Fung is well known for Xiao Long Bao so obviously that was the first dish ordered.
We ordered the Crab Roe Xiao Long Bao (3 pieces for RM 9.33 after GST) which was quite tasty. The juice that exuded out was not as fiery hot as most xiao long bao. But most importantly though they are small, the skin is soft enough.

The Spicy Assorted Wantan (RM 13.21 for 6 pcs) were the best wantan I have ever eaten. I am not a fan of the ubiquitious wantan we eat with wantan mee but I definitely like this as the handmade wantan are made in very silky skin and have the filling full to the brim of the spinach and also shrimps.

The Plain Vegetable La Mian Soup (RM 9.34) was very delicious. The soup is clear and did not have a drop of oil, which is a refreshing change from the unhealthy soup noodles outside that is full of bubbles, indicating oil traces. There are a few Xiao Pai Chai too.

Seaweed and beancurd and also glass noodles in vinegar dressing (RM 7.64) came in a small portion, smaller than I imagined. There is no overload of vinegar to the extend that the whole dish taste like vinegar only. The seaweed and vinegar were finely chopped to make it pleasing for the eyes and tastebud. I have finished every single strand of seaweed. It goes well with plain La Mian.

We were supposed to order wine steamed chicken or spicy sichuan chicken but did not do so because the chicken would be served cold.

The beverage is the most expensive, even more expensive than price of food. In fact, the Chrysanthemum Pu Er tea, at RM 16.51, was even more expensive than the rest of my food. I think the lesson learnt is to not order any drinks if you want your bill to be worthwhile.

Tanoshii Smile Oct 19, 2015

Categories : Japanese | Stall / Warung | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato

I am always fascinated by anything weird and unique. I came across this place when I came here to watch Mr Holmes movie. My friend told me that in Japan, people would queue up to eat here but over here, the salesgirls had to keep promoting this. I ordered the Tanoshii with matcha filling, creamy mango ice-cream, a chocolate stick and also a strawberry. The tanoshii has crispy sides too. The ice-cream and filling are thankfully, not overly sweet.

We have to wait quite a while for them to make this when we order. I may come back to try the matcha/black sesame/coffee ice-cream.

AMPM Cafe  Smile Oct 19, 2015

Categories : Western variety | Café

My friend was so excited about bringing me to this cafe as he was very sure I would like this place due to the decorations. I am always inclined to like any place where I can do my photo mania.

The only downside about eating here is that food takes a very long time to arrive due to crowd coming here. It is a nice artsy place on the top floor. There are also chalk art on the walls. While waiting for my food, I spotted a terrier and played with it downstairs at the al fresco area. The greyish puppy is so cute and it loves me a lot. I guess puppies kind of like me the way I like them.

I ordered the Beef Egg Benedict (RM 18). The egg was done just the way I like it but the bread was hard rock which was very unexpected. The salad had an overload of mayonaise and once this happens, I usually am not that happy.

My friend had the Wholesome Breakfast (RM 24) which consists of English Muffin with beef bacon, mushroom omelette, beef bacon, chicken ham, fresh vegetables and cheese and also potato wedges. I preferred this to my egg benedict so as usual, my best friend would exchange with me.

My friend ordered the Pineapple Juice whereas I ordered the Marmalatte Coffee (RM 13) which is quite tasty as it came with orange zest. I am a little crazy over flavoured coffee.
