Mon Boulangerie & Kitchen  Smile Nov 03, 2015

During my food hunt in Sri Petaling with my female BFF, we chanced upon this French Cafe. I liked the ambience and atmosphere inside that looks very lovely. The price of food and drinks here are surprisingly reasonable.

My friend ordered the Americano for a whopping RM 5.90. It was so cheap that I was shocked.

I fell in love with the Frosted Mint Mocha Latte (RM 8.90) which is so unique, tantalising me with the mix of sweetness from the latte and the fragrance of the mint blended together. The drink is very special.

The Smoked Salmon Salad (RM 14.90) has a very big portion with fresh raw salmon drizzled with french dressing and a whole lot of fresh greens, purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes and small preserved green beans.

The Mon Boulangerie Big Breakfast (RM 19.90) was well worth the price as it included a big portion of 2 sausages, omelette, ham, mini hashbrown, canned kidney beansa big slice of french bread and stir fried mushrooms with black pepper sauce. I particularly like the mushrooms. There is a side dish of cherry tomato and fresh salad too. The portion is bigger than the one served at any other coffee place and totally well worth the price paid.

We also ordered the Seafood Pesto Spaghetti (RM 16.90) which had a big portion with seafood such as mussels, prawns and squid. I like the thick pesto sauce that covered the spaghetti thoroughly.

I have passed by this place so many times till today since there was haze, we thought of trying this out since there are not many air-conditioned cafes about Taman Sri Manja.

We ordered the Fried Sea Fish with the special sauce. The fish meat is hard because it was fried though I thought it was steamed. I did not like fried fish that much. The sauce is just normal tau cheow sauce with fried tofu.

The Paku Pakis/Midin with salted fish is quite tasty, fresh, green, raw and crispy.

Recharge Kitchen  Smile Nov 02, 2015

On and off I like to have lunch at Recharge Kitchen because they have the best and cheapest food set comprising of 1 white rice, meat/fish/pork dish and a drink of green tea/roselle or iced lemon tea. I particularly like the steamed dory fish with assam curry. The fish is just so juicy and soft.

My friend ordered the Kam Heong Chicken which was very fragrant and delicious.

My other colleague ordered the Pork Chop cooked in BBQ sauce.

The side dishes are cost only a mere RM 3 per item. We ordered the Xiao Pai Chai and also the Long Beans.

Moonlight Cake House  Smile Nov 02, 2015

I was searching the blog and internet on food in Sri Petaling and found the Moonlight Cake House to be fantastic. This place definitely looks like Tous Les Jours from the top.

My friend ordered the carbonara (RM 12.40) which has an egg yolk and ham. The spaghetti was done al dente and made to be cheesy.

I ordered the Chef Homemade Chicken (RM 30.60) which was chicken rolled together with carrots, mushroom and some sort of fungus. The mashed potato was too hard and not smooth enough. Japanese sesame sauce was placed on top together with small cut asparagus. The chicken was tender enough.

The Beef Bacon Asparagus (RM 17.90) was so delicious and tender. It would have been better with more sauce. The pieces of bacon are also thick enough.

We both ordered the Tropical Forest (RM 11.20) which, thank god, was not that sweet but would have been better with more lime and longan.

The ambience is quite sophisticated with a lot of yellow lights.

Sushi Zento  Smile Nov 02, 2015

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood

When I came to Sri Petaling last week, I noticed that there is  big brown building selling sushi and thought of trying it tonight. There were quite a number of customers here, as described by the bloggers. But when  I saw the menu, I almost felt like getting out because all the food are overpriced at RM 38-50 for small plates of food like noodles, rice or even california rolls.

I finally pondered and ordered the Sashimi Set (RM 48) which was the most worthwhile. The sashimi pieces are very thick and fresh. There are 4 varieties of maguro, salmon, butterfish and also scallops. The set comes together with chawanmushi, rice, miso soup, salad.

The other delicious thing here is the Tempura Moriawase (RM 22) which was very worth the price considering the big portion of 3 ebi, and 1 each of brinjal, capcisum, orange potato, yam, ladies fingers, pumpkin, fish. The tempura and sashimi are the only two things we like best and come out praising highly.

The red plates here cost  RM 6.30, blue: RM 2.30, purple plate: RM 8.30. The red and purple plates are quite pricey. The ground floor has conveyor sushi whereas the top floor is focused on dining. The sukiyaki cost a lot here at almost RM 48-72.

We ended the meal with Hotate Mentai Yaki (RM 27) which was so mushy, creamy with the cheese mixed with mentai and fish roe and chopped mushrooms and tiny chopped scallops. This made me very full and don't feel like eating anything else after that.
