Jonker 88 Smile May 31, 2014

Finally I am here by accident. Last time I wanted to come here but it was too late and we had to rush back to our motel in Muar. But this time I was here in the afternoon looking for hi-tea that is something small and not too filling. We walked and walked and finally found ourselves in front of a cafe with so many people queuing inside and people were eating while standing. Then I looked up and saw the signboard and it was like heaven when it was written, "Jonker 88."

Everyone had to queue up to order their food and pay when the order and food is given, just like ordering at the hawker.

The Baba Cendol (RM4) is just normal, like a snowball with thick syrup of gula melaka and some cendol at the bottom. Everything is done fast. The santan is so much and there was a lot of big chunks of santan inside. Very disappointing for cendol, especially since this place is touted to have the best cendol.

The Kahwin Laksa and Curry Laksa (RM 7) with laksa noodles were very tasty.  The fusion of sour laksa soup and also curry laksa is amazing. There were a big springy fishball, big prawn, 2 big tau pok, taugeh, hard-boiled egg etc.

The dried sambal cuttlefish (RM 3.50) was so tasty to go with the curry noodles but the temp is just not our taste.

The place is so steaming hot that any tourist who  eats here can't wait to quickly finish the food and get out of it. Probably people feel that sweat and heat and waiting makes the food tastier.

The front portion of the cafe had many antiques and also currencies of different countries everywhere on the wall.
