Curry Seafood Noodle Smile Jun 25, 2013

Whenever I have cravings for curry noodles, I will visit Restoran Yu Ai to get my fix. Since Segambut, which is their main branch is rather far, I usually patron the branch in SS2 Cheow Yang area. The shop is simplistically decorated with heavy wooden chairs and marble tables. Normally when wifey and I visit, the restaurant is virtually empty, probably due to the fact that the bowls of noodles were rather expensive at RM15 per serving. I ordered the curry seafood noodles, and it came in a jiffy. The curry gravy is full of seafood flavour, sweet and slightly spicy, with lots of coconut milk. They are never stingy with the seafood ingredients, and I've got two big prawns and a generous helping of lala, sliced brown squid and salmon slices. The seafood is top-notch, definitely of high quality and really fresh. They provide a separate bowl to place the prawn and clam shells. Each table also has a box of tissue, together with two kinds of chilli paste and chilli sauce to add to your liking. Although it is a dent to the wallet, it is highly recommended.

Hong Kong Milk Tea Smile Sep 16, 2013   (Related Review)

I didn't know what to order to drink, and the affable waitress suggested that I try their signature Hong Kong Milk Tea. I agreed, and the drink came almost immediately. My first sip tasted wonderful. It was definitely very authentic Hong Kong milk tea. The sweetness was just enough without being overwhelming, and the milk plus tea taste just right. Priced at RM5.50 a glass, it was well worth the amount paid.

Tsubugai Smile Sep 11, 2013   (Related Review)

I simply love the tsubugai in Sakae Sushi. Again, this is one of those items only available in Sakae, and none of the other Japanese restaurants offers this. The tsubugai is essentially baby top shell, very chewy and crunchy at the same time. It is boiled, and then mixed with the special sour chilli sauce, akin to the Thai chilli sauce, as well as some sesame seeds. Definitely a good appetiser.

Salmon Sashimi Smile Sep 10, 2013   (Related Review)

The best thing about the salmon sashimi in Sakae Sushi is that they serve it without frills at all. There were no slivers of irritating white carrots that taints the salmon taste. There were only a piece of lemon and some slices of cucumbers on the plate containing five pieces of juicy, delectable salmon. Priced at RM10.90 for five pieces, it was a darn good price to pay for

fresh salmon.

Hana Maki Smile Sep 10, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood | Ramen/Udon/Soba | Private Party

The Hana Maki, a special creation from Sakae Sushi cannot be found in any other sushi shops, at least the ones that I have patronised. The rice is soft and fluffy, with a tinge of vinegar. A big piece of juicy salmon wrapped around the ball of rice, just good enough for a mouthful. The best part is the dollop of mayonnaise on top, sprinkled with some prawn roe. The mayonnaise goes very well with the entire ensemble, and the prawn roe gives it a brackish tangy flavour. Definitely recommended!
