Enrich Chocolate Smile Sep 03, 2013   (Related Review)

The drink that I absolutely adore in Old Town White Coffee is their Enrich Chocolate. By far the best chocolate drink I have had. Without hesitation, I ordered a glass of cold Enrich Chocolate to complement my meal. The drink is very thick with chocolate flavour. Even with lots of ice added, the drink didn't taste diluted at all, instead the melted ice accentuates the drink. Definitely recommended.

Wan Tan Mee Smile Jul 30, 2013

My colleague recommended us to try out this restaurant. She highly recommended the char siew wan tan mee. I was a bit apprehensive because Meng Kee Char Siew is just opposite, and I would actually rather go there for some good char siew instead. However, since the majority of the group agreed, we went to Chen Jiang instead. Note that the shop name doesn't have English characters, so one has to be a Chinese reader. Anyhow, I ordered the highly recommended char siew wan tan mee. Surprisingly, it was quite good. The wantan noodle was cooked to perfection, not too hard, and not too soft tossed in some soya sauce, dark sauce and oil. The best thing is, the oil uses lard. It doesn't have the weird alkaline taste, which was a good thing. There were some vegetables and a fried wantan that comes in the set. The highlight has to be the char siew. Although it is not half fat half lean maltosed type like Meng Kee, it can definitely hold its own. The meat is lean, very tender and juicy. It also comes with a small bowl of soup with two pieces of wantan floating inside. The soup wantan is merely OK, nothing to shout about. For the price tag of RM5, it was well worth the amount paid.

Claypot Bean Curd Smile Jul 27, 2013   (Related Review)

Claypot bean curd, or tauhu oon, as it was called in the menu, looks rather appetising. We decided to order a small portion costing RM8. It was quite a big serve. They used the Japanese tau foo, fried till golden brown before being tossed in brown sauce together with sweet peas, slices of carrots and mushrooms, served in a small metal wok. The ensemble was very nice, and goes very well together with white rice. Definitely recommended!

I wanted to have some kang kung as my vegetable of the day. I was contemplating between the belacan fried kang kung or the deep fried kang kung salad. Since wifey was pro belacan, we decided to get the belacan fried kang kung. It was quite nice. The kang kung was fried just right, not overly fried till it was wilted. The belacan taste was quite strong, and it was slightly salty. Some slices of chillities were hidden inside the kang kung, so one must take care will consuming. Priced at RM8 for a small portion, it was well worth the money paid.

Kam Heong Lala Smile Jul 27, 2013   (Related Review)

The waiter recommended us to try the lala, as he mentioned that they were quite fresh. We agreed, and decided to order it kam heong style. We were not disappointed, as the lala was really fresh. Each morsel was covered with the kam heong sauce, and the meat was still intact in the shell. Slightly salty, with just enough spice, it goes very well with white rice. Priced at RM10 for a small portion, it was definitely well worth the amount paid.
