After finishing our main meal, we took the menu and decided to order dessert. We were planning to stay a bit longer as the environment was quite nice, especially with a tv which was putting on Thai karaoke songs. We wanted to order the Chilled Thai Ruamit, as I have not had it before. From the picture, it was an icy dessert with three colours of jelly surrounding it. However, the waiter said that they have sold out. He was extremely apologetic, and gave us his name card and told us to call him in the afternoon if we decide to come for dinner, and he will reserve the dessert for us. On top of that, he gave us a plate of Thai mango as compensation. The mango was really nice, sweet and well chilled. Talk about good customer-service! I will definitely come again, this time I will pre-order my dessert. Other Ratings:Taste 5 | Environment 5 | Service 4 | Clean 4 | Value for Money 3 Recommend 0 |
We knew we wanted to order dessert, hence as drinks, we ordered the pandan water costing 50 cents each. They came in a metal cup, something that I have never seen in a long time. The drink came crisply cold, and it was very fragrant, full of pandan taste. It was well chilled in the fridge. I thought it was quite a small cup. However, before I could order another cup, the friendly waiter came by to refill my cup. Pleasantly surprised, I downed the cup and asked for another. It was really thirst-quenching and definitely very enjoyable. Other Ratings:Taste 5 | Environment 5 | Service 4 | Clean 4 | Value for Money 3 Recommend 0 |
I was hankering for some fried soft shell crab, however, to my disappointment, they have run out of soft shell crab. The affable waiter looked genuinely sorry, so we decided to order the deep-fried squid with garlic instead. It proved to be a great choice. The squid was perfectly fried till golden brown, and there were loads of fried garlic as topping. Both were equally crunchy, not too salty, perfect complement to our rice. Priced at RM15, it was definitely well worth the amount paid. Other Ratings:Taste 5 | Environment 5 | Service 4 | Clean 4 | Value for Money 3 Recommend 0 |
Checking my letter box, I found a paper advertisement about Thai Nyonya Restaurant located in Ara Damansara. Since it was almost dinnertime, wifey and I decided to pay a visit to this restaurant since it was quite near to where we stay. The place was not easy to find, good thing wifey brought the advertisement along, which had a location map. The place is rather new, and it was simply decorated with wooden chairs and tables. There were also some Thai decorations in the shop, which lent a good ambience. We ordered, and the food was quite slow to come, probably because there were a big group of people who came just before us. The first to arrive was the Thai Style Fried Petai. There were a generous amount of halved petai, together with some big-sized prawns. There were also loads of sweet onions as well. It wasn't extremely spicy, so wifey enjoyed it very much. Priced at RM15, it was a decent amount to pay. Other Ratings:Taste 5 | Environment 5 | Service 4 | Clean 4 | Value for Money 3 Recommend 0 |
I first had Din Tai Fung in Hong Kong, and the dish that reminded me of the good times there was the spicy shrimp pork wan tan. I must order this dish every time I visit Din Tai Fung, for nostalgic reasons. Don't get me wrong, the dish is superb, the plus point is that it brings back the good deja vu feeling for me. The wan tan skin is smooth and delectable. The filling of whole shrimp and minced pork combination was juicy and nice. The best thing was the bed of spicy chilli sauce, with lots of red oil that truly enhances the flavour. It is quite spicy, but not over the top, complementing the wan tan well. Definitely recommended. Recommended Dish(es):
