Fried Cempedak Smile Jul 22, 2013

Categories : Stall / Warung

A fried fruity sweet smell assaulted my senses when I was passing by this stall the other day. One of my favourite snacks, the fried cempedak was being freshly fried right in front of my eyes. I know I am not supposed to eat this, as the calories count is horrendous, however, I cannot help but buy a small pack to sample. It tasted as good as it smells. Sweet flesh, savoury batter, and nutty taste of the perfectly fried seed, I finished the pack in no time. It wasn't even enough to share with wifey.

Salmon Sashimi Smile Jul 21, 2013   (Related Review)

No visit is complete without having some salmon sashimi, in my opinion. I could usually finish off couple of plates of sashimi without any problem, however, since I was already quite full, I decided to order just one plate of five pieces to share with wifey. The salmon sashimi came in a jiffy, and I could taste that it was just out of the fridge. Fresh and cool, it was very nice when dipped in some soya sauce-wasabi mixture. I simply adore the fishiness of this dish. Definitely recommended, and the price tag of RM10.80 is not too bad either.

Una Tama Smile Jul 21, 2013   (Related Review)

I was quite full, but still wanted to have more. So I ordered the Una Tama. Essentially, it is a piece of sushi topped with eel and omelette, all held together with a strip of seaweed. The eel was perfectly grilled, juicy and delectable. Slightly salty, but I was OK with that. The tamago, or omelette is a bit sweet, and complemented the grilled eel and rice nicely. Priced at RM6.80 for two, it wasn't the cheapest, but it was well worth the amount paid.

Sanshoku Hana Salmon Smile Jul 21, 2013   (Related Review)

Wifey is a big fan of the Sanshoku Hana Salmon. Three little delectable morsels of juiciness. A piece of fresh salmon is wrapped around a bite sized rice ball, topped with a generous amount of roe. The orange roe is basically shrimp roe, the light green one is wasabi flavoured flying-fish roe and the last is black caviar. The little roe just pops in the mouth when we chew, creating a very crunchy, brakish

mouth sensation. Priced at RM9.80 for a set, it was definitely well worth the amount paid.

Chocolate Tau Foo Fah Smile Jul 17, 2013

One of the best things about roaming in a pasar malam is that you will suddenly find a stall selling something very unique to eat. In my case, I was strolling in pasar malam ss2 when I chanced upon a stall surrounded by people. Naturally curious, I craned over and tried to see what was being sold. To my surprise, they were selling flavoured tau foo fah. I normally take the soya bean type, but I have never had it any other way. They had chocolate, pandan and mango tau foo fah. Since there were so many people, their tau foo fah must be good. I waited patiently for my turn, and ordered a chocolate one. It was put in a round plastic container, and it is served cold. Smooth and silky, it reminded me of the double boiled chocolate milk that I once had in Hong Kong. It wasn't too sweet, but full of chocolate taste. Definitely worth my time waiting for it.
