Curry Mee Cry Jun 26, 2013   (Related Review)

Hainan Station in Plaza Mont Kiara offers quite a good selection of local cuisine. I like the fact that they have ample tables and chairs for dining al fresco, so smokers like wifey would be happy. The curry mee in Hainan Station was just OK, wasn't too great. The yellow noodle was overcooked, hence making the whole dish rather stodgy. The curry gravy has too much santan in it, adding to the stodginess. There weren't much ingredients, only some bits of chicken meat, two taupok and some beansprouts. Priced at RM8.50 a bowl, it was rather expensive, not frankly not very nice.

Wan Tan Mee Soup OK Sep 24, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

Since I have tried the dry wan tan mee here before, and they add in curry sauce which was quite nice, I wanted to try their soup version. I ordered one, and it came in a jiffy. The noodle was cooked a bit too long, making it slightly soft, but still OK. The soup has quite a bit of MSG, but that it quite expected. There were some slices of char siew in it, and some meat balls as well. Slightly salty and priced at RM5, it was a decent price to pay for lunch.

Pineapple With Lemon OK Sep 22, 2013

The pineapple with lemon in Tang House of Fishball was cited as a new offering. Since I didn't know what to order, I decided to have that, so that I would have something to chew on while waiting for my food. There were huge chunks of pinepples in the glass, though it tasted like it was from a can. There weren't much lemon taste, as the pineapple taste overpowered it. Priced at RM3 for a cold glass, it was a decent price to pay.

Mini Dumpling OK Sep 22, 2013   (Related Review)

The mini dumpling, or gao zhi in Tang House of Fishball was just so-so. They do look pretty cute, small and we were able to eat one in a single mouthful. However, I thought that the skin was a bit thick. I would have preferred that pan-fry it longer to get the brown crispiness on the skin. Some vinegar and julienned ginger was given to complement the dumpling, but the ginger was quite meagre. The filling was OK, quite juicy but rather small. Priced at RM6 for 8 pieces, it was a decent amount to pay.

Wan Tan Mee OK Sep 22, 2013   (Related Review)

Another colleague ordered the wan tan mee, dry version. First time we saw wan tan mee dry version being served in a soup bowl, and we were teasing the colleague about it. The noodles were done OK, slightly softer for my liking. The soya sauce and dark sauce mix was a bit light, so it was slightly tasteless. The char siew was so-so, and it didn’t have the half fat, half lean bit. It was all lean. The wan tan in soup was more acceptable, though the soup was tasted of MSG. The wan tan was of mediocre size, as expected. Priced at RM5, it was a decent amount to pay.
