Chinese Caesar Salad Smile Aug 27, 2013

When the waiter brought this in, all of us were confused. Why would there be a western salad in a Chinese restaurant. The manager however, told us that this was their implementation of a salad fit for the locals.

Anyway, we placed both the soft shell crab in the salad and poured the given sauces and started mixing. Later on served individually. To my surprise, the salad actually tasted pretty good. I was expecting it to fail one way or another but no, it did not. I pretty much liked it a lot.

To begin, the salad was fresh, the soft shell crab was crispy and meaty, there was plenty of eggs and I love eggs, the sauce was good, everything was complimenting one another. Also, I would like to emphasize that the salad was very 'eggy'. Loved it.

The Scallop Chawan Mushi could possibly be one of my favourite dish so far. The scallop was quite the size and it has a very nice chewy texture. Not forgetting the most important part for Chawan Mushi, the smoothness and consistency of the eggs. Holding my breath, praying hard, slowly taking the spoon provided and started to take a bite...wait for it...and...it was great! Smooth, light and flavourful. Enough said.

Chicken fried with salted egg as the crust. Basically one of the best Salted Egg Fried Chicken I've had. The crust of the chicken has the saltiness of an salted egg, not just pure salt. Some restaurant tends to fail on this part. The chicken would just be salty instead of a eggy-salty. Inside, the chicken was warm, soft and tender. The flavours of the salted eggs was engulfed in the chicken meat as well. Really liked it.

Curry Soup Smile Aug 27, 2013   (Related Review)

A serving of rich, aromatic and mild spicy curry. The owner insisted that this curry was possibly one of the best you could find in Kuala Lumpur and that many big bosses from different companies came here specifically to order that.

I had to admit, the curry was pretty good. The flavours were pretty balanced and it wasn't overly spicy. I would prefer it to be more spicy but then again, they had to make it so everyone could enjoy. The curry was also loaded with ingredients such as tofu, long beans, onions, crabmeat etc. Overall, I really liked it.

The appetizer of the evening. Looks and smells fantastic. Fried sticks of brinjal, fried vegetables leaves, tofu and fresh slices of cucumber and onions. The combination of textures and flavours were phenomenal. The crispiness of each elements, the softness of brinjal, the sweet and sour taste of the kerabu salad and the sauce was just great. Really really enjoyed it.
