Ireland Fries with Curry Tomato

Ireland Fries with Curry Tomato

Fries was horribly oily externally and dry internally. Kinda felt overcooked real bad. Some of the fries was also quite soggy and....soulless. Nevertheless, the sauce was not bad, although I believe that they could improve it. But before improving the sauce, please do increase the quality of the fries. It was disastrous. For RM5, even Mcdonald's fries tastes better.

Spending per head: Approximately RM5

Chicken Gordon Bleu Cry Jul 02, 2013   (Related Review)

Chicken Gordon Bleu

Chicken Gordon Bleu

The pasta was cooked rather okay, I do not really have complains on that. The chicken however, was really dry inside. The crust wasn't that bad along with the chicken sauce. The tomato sauce however, was quite salty. Overuse of pepper also made it too empowering and it just doesn't feel right. Tomato based sauce should be smooth, tangy and flavourful, not peppery. Again, if it isn't for the price, I would've commented worst. 6.3/10.

Beef Bacon Carbonara Cry Jul 02, 2013

Beef Bacon Carbonara

Beef Bacon Carbonara

The bacon was rather salty and dry. The spaghetti was really sandy. I personally really didn't like it. The sauce started out really good, but for some reason, as you eat more and more, the sauce starts to taste really salty and over flavoured. Making the dish really, thick and sickening. If it isn't for the price, I would have commented horribly on it. But for RM12, its actually not bad. 6/10.

Bambu Dagang Rice OK Sep 30, 2013   (Related Review)

A traditional east Malaysian rice dish of the aromatic "dagang" rice, steamed with coconut cream, shallots and herbs, served with delicious Tenggiri fish curry.

I have to say, the presentation was really appealing. However, the rice itself was quite disappointing. It was musky, sandy and wasn't really to my liking. The curry on the other hand was pretty good. It was rich, flavourful and spicy. The only issue was the fish. It was hard and dry. The salad given was pretty sour, but it was alright.

798 Shabu Shabu OK Sep 30, 2013

Firstly, I would like to say that I appreciate the varieties of soup, meat and sauces. This is something that I believe no other shabu-shabu has done. Furthermore, I would also like to point out that the meat was really fresh, consistently sliced and well portioned. However, the only issue I had was the soup. It was bland, almost tasteless.

The Tomyam soup which I tried was just spicy, it had no sourness or anything else. The Wintermelon soup only gets better as you keep cooking different variant of ingredients together. Having said that, the soup was still not quite there. Pork Bone Clear soup had no sense of Pork Bone, felt like it was just clear chicken stock soup. Herbal soup was pretty disappointing as well. I've yet to tried the other 5 soups because they were unavailable on that day.

The sauce wasn't exactly something new to me, but its nice to see a restaurant having such varieties of sauces. Anyway, I really liked the Green Chili. It was spicy and tangy at the same time. Wasn't a fan of the other sauces but apparently, I was supposed to mix and match different sauces together to create a whole new flavour. But I couldn't do it, it was just too much for me.

Having said that, the choices of vegetables, fishballs, meatballs, crabstick, noodles were all very good. Not to mention they were also very fresh. Their drinks menu were pretty good as well. I personally loved the Waterchestnut drink. One last issue was the ice cream. They were horribly diluted. If only they were to change to a different supplier or perhaps recipe, it could be much much better.

Seafood are currently still unavailable due to the difficulty of maintaining freshness and price. However, there will be new upcoming menu/ingredients to the restaurant in the near future.

Overall, I believe the price are pretty standard. I personally think if only they were to improve the soup, just the soup, their business would be fantastic. However it may seem, I would really want to express my gratitude to the owners of 798 Shabu Shabu for this hangout. I may have hated the soup but I truly believe that they will improve it and one day, I will return to try again.
