Offering relaxing lounges and wide selection of cocktails and beer cocktails, astounding mix of flavours with a medley zest and an extensive menu with choices of selection for communal eating as well as individual orders in Chapter One, this becomes divine lounging area. Also engage with their live bands every night while indulging in a drink or two. With a podium, pool table, and some couches, the Chapter One still manages to squeeze some bar tables and stools, as well as comfortable seats, be it to enjoy a drink or two or to enjoy a meal.

Even though the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase is not active but the palate is still functioning well to rank my favourite mix of the night. The winner is the Irish Car Bomb which in case anyone is clueless, is the Guinness mix with Bailey’s cream and Irish whisky. The Bailey’s being the first Irish cream introduced in the 70s is probably the key component to the outcome of this. Once the “bomb” was dropped into a half pint of stout, it instantly transformed what was originally coarsely malt into this velvety smooth and rich creamy textured maltiness. Cream curdles when meeting acid, making it impossible to sip this leisurely. Hence one might consider sharing if a pint is too heavy.

Something else for the stroll would be their beer cocktails and cocktails promotion. Pick two choices of Beer Cocktail at RM 45 or choices of three cocktails at RM 60. Here is the Lunch Box (Lager, Orange, Amaretto Disorono), Strawberry Daiquiri (which did not appeal to me thanks to the overpowering Bacardi Carta Blanc to Crème De Fraise and Lime Squeeze), Sex on the Beach (Skyy Original, Peach, Cranberry, Orange) and the Snake Bite Black Pint (Strongbow Apple Cider, Lager, Blackcurrant).

Fermenting at lower temperature, the composition is distinctively distinguishable with the clearer colour. On the other hand, the Strongbow mojito tasted slightly fresher than lager. The after taste certainly roamed a little longer.

Pair all that with bites of juicy and succulent pieces of Crispy Pork Ribs. These deeply marinade and flavourful deep fried pork ribs with fermented bean curd, and served with sweet and sour homemade Thai chili sauce would get you polishing each rib to sparkle in the end. The Pork Meatball is slightly underwhelming when compared to the pork ribs, but a better choice that would make you look more elegant if you are ever on a date.

Their Sliced beef is another fair deal pricing at RM 18 with grilled Angus beef slices served on top of Kailan and accompanied by Japanese soya sauce topped with Wasabi. The clean and pure Wasabi flavour was a memorable one. A very clever choice of condiment to pair with the otherwise ordinary beef slices.

The Pasta range didn’t quite do them great justice but adequate to grant delight to hunger. Pork Meatball Pasta in Tomato Sauce would perpetually keep you digging in thanks to the appetizing savoury sweet tangy flavour from the tomato.

Spicy Seafood Aglio Olio Pasta is one exigent dish in pasta range. If done correctly would be breathtakingly mind blowing. The simpler it is, the more challenging it is. While the seafood in this is relatively good, the texture and flavour did appear to fall short from perfect.

Caved within Desa Sri Hartamas, parking is always tedious but fear not because Chapter One provides free jockey service. Something to look for when considering the venue. All the good reasons to chill and lounge with some good food, a drink or two and some live band performances.

Best Burger In Town Smile Sep 12, 2013

Baboon House freezes time and allows the calm and quaint surrounding to engage dinners with serene and lots of greens and natural sunlight. Upon entering the narrow façade, this restored heritage is not only arty and filled with serenity but at the same time mesmerizing visitors through a time tunnel tracking back to the heritage of this building from its décor. Sit back and venture great gastronomical contentment with some furry friends roaming freely around the open space.
Carefully indulge in every piece of decorative item in this art gallery while embracing the fabulous and almost natural elements along the way. The tranquility is the relaxing diversity when you experience beautiful natural lights as well as water tanks with fishes swimming freely in it.

The only thing tempering my focus at the ambiance was my hunger. Looking at the menu, their best are the gourmet burgers. It was certainly not the best I’ve had but I vouched this as the best in Malacca. It is no doubt that this place ranks #1 on tripadvisor for the entire package prevails to be on top in virtual and spiritual satisfaction of both gastronomic and sight.
The Oriental Chicken Burger (RM 13.80) was carefully prepared and stacked with fine qualities of ingredients, and served with some wedges, and onion rings at the side. I absolutely love the thought of diverse choices instead of the usual wedges or fries options. Baking their own buns, they have one of the best burger buns I’ve had in my gourmet burger voyages so far.

The patty was relevantly good in texture but the use of good and fresh ingredients prepared upon ordering is worth admiration. The freshly cut slices of cucumber and tomato is a very touching gesture. They might not have prepared their sauce right from scratch but the right ratio of sauce in it made the burger divine.Wedges are seriously good when I had mine. It was almost the best wedges I have ever had, but the onion ring really needs drastic improvisation. It was soft, slightly mushy and not very attractive looking even though the prices for the burger range are unbelievably reasonable.

The Baboon Green Salad is yet another ambrosial indulgence sinfully topped with streaks of pork bacon and chicken pop corn. With options to include feta cheese (RM 16) or without feta cheese for those selective on cheeses (RM 13.50). Alas, it was out of feta cheese when I visit.

I solemnly swear that I would prefer no one picking anything from my plate if I’m ordering this for solo consumption. It was sinfully amazing and pork lovers would go berserk over this plate of salad. I should confess that I would greedily and selfishly want to whack it all by myself and not sharing this with anyone. And to be very honest, there were more meats than vegetables in it. So note to vege lovers, the plants are mostly just simple cucumber and tomato so the rich poultry is solely the pull factor in this one. Tossed with vinaigrette dressing and accompanied by simple toasted bread slice, the serving portion for this one was rather generous.

The Lemonade was indeed perfect in every way including the serving size. The solid ingredient for lemonade was generously permeated into this glass of solution to thirst. It was absolutely perfect during mid day.

Coffee range appeared sufficiently satisfying when it comes to the choices and varieties offered. Alas, my usual tea didn’t appeal to be extravagant, instead just ordinarily decent while showcasing our Cameron Highland tea bags. The hot tea and coffee uniquely comes with a piece of Klassiske Vaniljekranse (Danish butter cookies) which I doubt is baked by them. Nevertheless it is still a novelty combination amongst most cafes.

Believe me when I vouched this as a must visit place in Melaka. The food is decent; burgers are the best in town, ample extent of coffee choices, and most importantly amazing tranquility from the surrounding. On weekends, aroma of freshly baked on the spot muffins waft in the entire café and would be one amazing experience. Should anyone is interested with the ambiance of this beautiful gallery café; feel free to browse through the internet as there are many which showcased many angles and corners in this café.Note that this gallery café strictly prohibits photography but is nice enough to still allow visitors taking pictures with them in it of course. Photos taken with no permission are no different from act of stealing and hence I must proclaim that all photos in this post are taken with consent from Roger Soong (the owner) and I hereby thank him for the warm hospitality from his café.

Awesome tea Smile Sep 06, 2013

The dishes here were not memorable in anyway. They were not bad or horrible but not fantastic to linger in memory for too long. However, I must also remind readers that they serve quality tea leaves here. Because they ran out of Jasmine green tea. I went with Oo long and discovered that they serve quality tea leaves. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If I want a good quiet time with some perfect aromatic tea, I might consider this place.

Super fresh sashimi Smile Aug 30, 2013   (Related Review)

Now the Sashimi set was heavenly and the set came with Garlic rice, Soup and Chawanmushi. Complimenting the set is some Fried vegetables too. The set combination is a little peculiar to me, but if we don’t know what is the correct way to savior the Japanese food then we won’t have much of an issue with the set combination. The sashimi is really fresh and deeply memorable.

Affordable high tea set Smile Aug 26, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Seafood

My favourite meal of all time is definitely tea time. That is the time of the day when your sugar level is normally already low. Having said that, most tea break comes in light bites with great sweetness. I love that very much. Here at the Pear International Hotel there is a café with awesome coffee and delicious cakes and strudels being the main selling items for high tea. There are main dishes on the menu as well but it is the High Tea Set we are interested with. The high tea is served with coffee or tea and it comes with light sandwiches and cakes.

The sandwiches are great because the ingredients are really fresh. Their tuna spread didn’t quite fascinate me but I do like the ham sandwich. Every tiny piece of those sandwiches has tremendous effort with nicely sliced tomato, lettuce and pickles in it. The fruit tarts were impressive as well. Fresh and crispy tart filled with fluffy soft and fresh cream, topped with a slice of kiwi.

My favourite would be the cakes. They were surprisingly fresh. I love their Opera and Tiramisu. Although I really don’t fancy anything that tasted like coffee, but the Tiramisu was indeed lovely. I guess freshness is the key to this amazing experience. It probably might not have tasted all that great if it weren’t that fresh.

The place is amazingly peaceful, with comfy couches as well as outdoor seats. Which is not bad approching dusk.

All three tiers arranged and placed so carefully by the staff and when brought to the table, you kinda just instantly wish to gulp everything at one go. Greedy me….

The tea set was good so I might go back again and check out the rest of the meals and dishes.
