Teochew style BKT OK Dec 15, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Bak Kut Teh

Klang has always been popular and well known with Bah Kut Teh (braised pork with herbal soup) but from what I’ve tasted, there are still a few shops around the PJ area that might be as good as some in of those served in Klang. Even in Melaka, there seemed to be a few that is rather popular. And honestly, I have no idea that the local Bah Kut Teh also comes with different styles according to China provinces. Melaka has got a famous one that sells the Teo Chew Bah Kut Teh.The Bah kut teh was served with some celery instead of the usual green lettuce. And some standard ingredients like the assorted pork and mushrooms.

Together with some yam rice (optional) and you tiao(fried beard stick), the combination is always perfect. Whoever came up with this custom is a genius. And the minced garlic to go with it is also another brilliant combination!

There are stir fried vegetables to go with the meal, but also depending on the availability of the vegetables on that particular day.

A place that is so rice in culture easily kills hours of your time if you were to explore everything. I would know, because it takes me forever to actually find out what’s in every corner. At a particular junction in the middle of my search of the mural for the National Chinese Cultural Festival of Malaysia, I found the remedy to the heat and fatigue attack you ought to have at one point of the walk. The best thirst quench is this traditional herbal tea and Gui Lin Kao.

The famous dish would be their steam fish, with bee hoon. And it was so good, we got carried away before I manage a photograph of it. But I did managed the stir fried lala. It was fresh but lack a bit of flavour. There is so much more which caught my interest, so I’ll return again for sure.

Xiao Long Bao OK Dec 10, 2013   (Related Review)

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

The Shanghai xiao long bao was not their best seller and instead of instant steaming upon item being ordered, the steaming basket was filled with these dumplings and continuously steaming at all time. Depending on the rate of orders, there is always chances of customers getting some that has been long waiting in the steamer. Customers seemed to not have any problem with it mainly because business is really good here.

Assorted choices of dimsum OK Dec 10, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

The dim sum is amazing for sharing and those clever creation which varies at different dim sum restaurants is something I look forward to whenever I visit any dim sum restaurants. In many ways, no matter how or when, the simple way to pick these items is from the trays which come as soon as you are seated. The siew mai is pretty decent but not to my liking as the meats were still slightly loose to have the texture of some chewy and bouncy fat pieces within the bites when gnawing the siew mai
