Located beautifully at the lake side within the Taylors University Lakeside Campus, this branch of ecobar clearly needs to put in a little more effort when serving their food, even if the dinners are simply mostly students and youngsters. This does not justify them serving lousy food just because the crowd still return anyhow whenever the café is open. My verdict after a soup, salad, and a main dish is that these returning crowds simply revisit because and only because they need food, or a place to hang out.

Ambiance was not too bad while dusk beautifully sooth the dining mood very easily. The fist to arrived was the Calamari Salad which is crispy but also greasy at the same time on a bed of leaf lettuce. Leaf lettuce has a tender, sweet, mild flavor that makes them versatile for any salad, but with no effort at all, the salad was absolutely uninteresting at any level.

Fish and chips can never be anymore unattractive than this, but I have to give it to them that it was pretty fresh.

The soup, is by far the worst I have ever had. My 4 year old niece probably do a better job making canned or powdered instant soups. It was diluted and I would say, don't serve this if you haven't enough to plate it.

Assorted western choices Cry Dec 10, 2013

The Daily Grind serves mainly steaks and grills as well as burgers and salads. Nothing stands out too impressively but they do provide a great ambiance for group meals and hangout sessions just to relax and enjoy a proper meal. The bar is also great for a drink or two after work hours. The Daily Grind serves relatively fresh ingredients while most of their items on the menu are decently good.

One should really avoid the salad as it is obviously not their forte. The dressing is lousy and almost effortless in attempting to serve it better. The Soft Shell Crab Salad comes with an entire soft shell crab and lots of salad leaves with a spread of mayonnaise which is very bland and dull in flavour. The lasagna is nothing to take pride in while the burgers are one of the few items that are worth ordering. The non alcohol beverages are not too bad either while the place does provide a calm and comfortable dining experience. The creative interior on the wall would be worthy of a bit more of your time to take a look and appreciate it.

Lousy breakfast Cry Dec 09, 2013
Categories : Western variety | Café

Although residing at Mont Kiara, I had no idea there is a chilla cup in the solaris Mont Kiara. I kind of paid attention to it when I started scouting for all day breakfast. Apparently the breakfast are not so impressive. I love their dessert range thou. Tried a couple when dropping by Subang Avenue and the mines outlet. What I notice is the inconsistent with the quality of the food. The eggs benedict that I had was better than that at the Subang Avenue branch. The workers there are mainly undertrained workers and that could have been the reason why the quality is often different.

The Americano is nicely served with a tiny cookie and the tea is nothing too fancy as they don’t have too wide of a selection for tea varieties. The beverage size is amazing with a huge cup that would last you quite a long time when chilling at the chilla cup. A good name for the café if you asked me.

The Chilla Cup here pretty much have similar interior. Slightly smaller but decent and sufficiently comfortable, this place is a good place to hang for breaks and tea time as well as breakfast menu. Don’t forget the brownies bake cheese cake selling at RM 8.90

Ceasar salad Cry Dec 09, 2013   (Related Review)

The food is decently palatable but the dishes are obviously not their forte. The Caesar Salad was really dull and boring with not many choices of salad leaves, and very simple toasted bread. Good thing they are generous with the Parmesan sprinkles, otherwise they would have nothing worth bragging in this. I would appreciate a little more effort if not to the extreme of platting it, but it should be charming when it comes to the taste.

Just Raisin and many flies.... Cry Dec 09, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Halal | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

The branch in Sunway pyramid is great in a way they have quite a variety of assortments. Just raisin is quite a nice one for Raisin lover at the price of RM 2.70 each. However, they need to really perk up with the hygiene and presentation of the display. More than fifty percent of my visit there, I observe flies around the buns and pastries. And usually, there are nothing covering it. That can be quite a bit of the turn off for customers.

Of course, that does not happen all the time. The breads and buns would go off at seventy percent after nine thirty or so, thus making that a good time to buy them for breakfast the next day. Of course, by that time the choices would be pretty limited already. Mostly bread loafs and plain buns.
