There were quite a fair bit of varieties, as written on the menu on the wall. I ordered sweet and sour crab and fried bread to go with it. In less than 15 minutes, our crabs were served.

Sweet and sour crab came complete with pliers and I wondered where my fried bread is? In another 10 minutes, our bread arrived and it looked nothing like the menu. It was steamed. Rather disappointed, because we were charged for that. Menu showing complete crab and bread, but the staffs were not sure of it themselves. We paid anyway. It was palatable, so I have no comment on this. Not to mention we finally got our extra chili sauce spontaneously after we ordered the crab. How is that relevant? I don’t know…I’m assuming readers would know.

Pau lookalike bread wasn’t that bad when dipping into sweet and sour sauce from the crab.

In contrary to that, the crab was however hideous. Completely off and I really don’t think they should be serving that. Ever…! And I will never eat that again. Not even if I’m being paid to do so.

Drinks and desserts Cry Sep 02, 2013   (Related Review)

Jaya One is probably no longer any news to many people. The place is filled with people almost every other night, not to mention weekends and public holidays being mostly packed with more people till late night. Famous with lots of German restaurants and pubs, some which I’ve already published some post earlier. Recently, I went casual drinking, enjoying life as we should be doing, I came across this place and I thought it’s a great place to drink and chill out with friends if you wanna have a good talk. Most of the restaurant will have their kitchen close by the time it approaches midnight. But this place has got their desserts serving even thou the kitchen closes. They serve nice cake slices, which do a great companion to long talks and catching ups. Also, it’s probably one of the few restaurants and pubs here which have live bands performing on a mini podium. So this makes a great hang out and bands have got lots of interactions with the audience as well.

The cakes may not be fantastic, but as you can see they are lovely to be looked at. I ‘m going to be very honest with the cake so let’s not expect anything like the secret recipe, let alone anything better than secret recipe. So the correct description is probably not palatable. Cheap butter, lousy cream, and untempered chocolate.

I guess we cannot expect too much from one place alone. There is always the awesome feature and the downside of what it takes. At least the drinks are all cool. So go for the live music, and the drinks. The cakes as well, if you are really hungry or if you don’t trust me. LOL.

The chicken rice shop sells chicken rice and few other items with chicken as main ingredient in it. Things like noodles and porridge are also available. It is fantastic that they are working towards bringing more variety for dinners so the choices becomes more diverse when customers choice to dine in any chicken rice shop outlet. In trying to achieve that, they apparently came up with desserts as well. When I tried their dessert, I was unsure if they are doing puding or agar agar. The texture was somewhere in between but it was nothing pleasant to the palate. Nothing to shout about and nothing memorable about it.

I was looking forward to famous Taiwan cuisine’s street snack signature, the oyster mee suah. However, to my amazement it did got me overwhelmed a little. I could have never expected that the oyster mee suahcan be this awful. How is that possible?

But I thought I should keep my judgments, at least until I had the rest of the noodles we ordered. So the Minced pork noodle and the Spare rib noodle tasted almost ordinary. But it was not bad for the fact that that they had a lot of spare ribs in the noodle.

One sweet one night is a restaurant/bar with music lounge where there is a pretty white grand piano centered on the stage. The interior of the shop is definitely a bigger attraction as compared to the food. I thought their pasta was palatable. But the interior of the shop really caught my attention.

There is a lot of vintage and old school decorations inside the restaurant, making dining experience rather pleasant and enjoyable.

Another capturing item here is the menu. Flip through the menu on an ipad but we still order with the staffs. So it kinda really defeat the purpose of the electronic menu.
Beginning with the French style milk pumpkin soup for starters, I was already not too please with the flavor. Then I tried the Soft shell crab pasta and the Chicken ham carbonara. Both plates of pasta tasted the same. Except for the deep fried soft shell crab, and some shredded chicken ham. Also different texture for spaghetti and penne.

The Baked scallops with cheese looked nothing like the illustration from the menu and I’d be lying if I say I wasn’t feeling cheated at that point. I can spend much better with my 25 Rm so I really don’t recommend this to anyone. Scallop is sized like a 50cent coin, not to mention it was over baked. Onions were chopped in pieces too big for the scallop so it really was a failure.

I do like the Chrysanthemum tea with jelly thou. Tasted really similar to cincau but less sweet.
