  Chestnut with Sea Coconut

Chestnut with Sea Coconut

I love sea coconut and the sea coconut used in this dessert is sweetened. It was loaded with tiny chunks of chestnut which was very crunchy and contrasted against the smooth and creaminess. The sweetened sea coconut was sweeter than the rest, which I thought it was the element of surprise. Perhaps they should put more sea coconut into it to spice things up more!

Yoghurt with Cranberries

Yoghurt with Cranberries

Homemade yoghurt for the win! The consistency of their yoghurt varies. Sometimes the texture of the yoghurt is watery, sometimes it is dense and creamy. It is a good healthy dessert to end your meal with. I like the way they serve their yoghurt with honey (ask for more if you like it sweeter), and my favorite toppings are grapes or mango as it would complement the sourish yoghurt very well.

Pumpkin Soup

Pumpkin Soup

If you feel like having a soup, you could get a big bowl of them with some crispy bread cube. The soup was not too dense, good to drink on its own. I love the pumpkin soup because you could feel the fiber in the soup and it was by default naturally sweet on its own. Sprinkled some pepper into the soup, it would be less boring due to the mild spiciness. The bread cube gave a good contrasting texture to the soup which might appear to me a little dull as you scoop more into it.

Fresh Orange Juice Smile Jul 31, 2012

Fresh Orange Juice

Fresh Orange Juice

When it comes to fruit juice, I am skeptical. How authentic could a fruit juice be? If I had it my way, it would be pulpy, frothy, less sweet (depending on the type of fruits), and also chilled. Fresh orange juice here was authentic to me. They did not put any sugar syrup or similar into your drink but real fruits. I could taste the sourness of orange juice was originated from the oranges and nothing more.

Salted Chicken

Salted Chicken

The less remarkable dish at Hakka Rang was this salted chicken. The texture of chicken was very coarse and tough, surely not for old men. I have tasted tender steamed chicken before and I know it is achievable! The only special feature of this dish was the salted way of cooking. Not too salty, which was good but the texture of the chicken could definitely be improved ALOT!
