Dark Chocolate Gelato [RM6]

Dark Chocolate Gelato [RM6]

Personally I love the dark chocolate very much as the flavor was very intense and the texture were creamy, I would say it was close to ice cream but it wasn't. The caramel gelato was decent and not as sweet as I have expected. However it faired less interesting after I tried the dark chocolate. Slightly melty, would be better if it was alittle more frozen like the dark chocolate's. [RM6 each]

Candied bananas in coconut milk

Candied bananas in coconut milk

I like banana and I like coconut milk. Filling, fragrant, sweet but a little savory, all these things appeal to me when I saw this dessert on the menu. The candied banana was expectedly sweet and hot, while the coconut milk was slightly chilled. I love the hot and cold combination and to make it more enjoyable, make sure you mix sufficient coconut milk with a candied banana in every scoop.

Roasted duck curry with lychee

Roasted duck curry with lychee

It is something new to me that you cook duck with curry. It is even unpredictable that you cook lychee with curry. Guess what, it worked perfectly at Rama V! Perhaps this was the best curry I had this year. Duck itself was quite a challenge as it tastes game most of the time. however in this dish, it was almost inexistent. The curry was lovely, sweetened by the natural sweetness of lychee. I love this, and it must go with rice!

Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream

Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream

I am usually not a fan of chocolate brownies because most places just do not get it right. Most of them being dry and coarse, thus it does not appeal to me. I had my reservation on the chocolate brownies but it was deemed unnecessary. Huck's really gets their desserts RIGHT!

The chocolate brownie was drizzled with chocolate, which resembles chocolate mud pie. Being served warm, we got to enjoy the molten texture in the chocolate brownie which was so moisten and smooth and it paired very well with the vanilla ice cream. It gave me almost the same sensation of eating chocolate fondant at Cafe Barbera.

Okay, chocolate brownies does sound like a good idea here.

Durian Mud Pie

Durian Mud Pie

Durian sounds good, mud pie sounds good too! Durian mud pie sounds even better! So I opted for durian mud pie as opposed to chocolate mud pie. Being a durian and chocolate lover, I was totally splitted. However, no regrets! This durian mud pie has proven its worthiness.

The durian mud pie was actually a squared ice cream (or gelato) topped with flowing durian sauce, sprinkled with peanuts. Eating the ice cream alone was already good! Eating with the mud made it even better with the contrasting texture. It was as good as eating durian alone, sans the seeds. The peanuts balanced the dessert with some crunches and also muted the flavor with its nuttiness. I love it <3
