Sauteed Radish Cake

Sauteed Radish Cake

This is the BEST BEST BEST! No kidding, I have not came across such perfect sauteed radish cake until I came here. The radish cake was crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. The chicken floss added a sweeter note to the dish, the bean sprout added to the crunchiness of the dish. It wasn't too hard to me to finish too!

Experience the Mexican Christmas Smile Jan 03, 2012

If you are bored with the usual Christmas celebration, why not try something different in Frontera?

In their last Christmas menu, they had this traditional tamales, which is something similar to dumpling.

Taste wise, it tasted like corn due to the masa dough (which is mainly made of corn flour). Texture wise, it was flaky. All these made it an interesting entreé.

Besides the tamales, Frontera served butternut squash soup.

it did not look pretty. I was anticipating something similar to pumpkin soup in terms of sweetness and texture. Pretty much I was right about the sweetness, but the texture was watery, taste nuttier. Few drizzles of sage enhanced the butternut flavor. I love this soup very much!

Finally the main! This was the Frontera's mesquite smoked turkey.

The way it was served was very unusual. Instead of cranberry sauce alone, Frontera made
cranberry chipotle relish, with jalapeno corn bread dressing, candied sweet potatoes, broccoli florets topped with chili con quesco.

The sweet potatoes was so soft that it melted in my mouth. Turkey itself was very unusual, somewhat similar to chicken in terms of texture. Impressive I must say, and the way it was cooked, mesquite smoke enhanced the third dimension of this dish.

The overall combination was interesting and I strongly recommend you must try this!

Last but not least, the signature key lime pie.

The name says it all. It was very sourish ( I like it that way lol) and the soft layer was very smooth and dense. When you eat it, you should pair every scoop with the thin layer of crunchy base. The soft layer would be better if it was denser though.

It was the most unusual Christmas dinner I have ever had, thanks to Frontera.

Mecrock & Tiramisu Smile Jun 20, 2012   (Related Review)

Mecrock & Tiramisu

Mecrock & Tiramisu

Nocciola and mecrock are from the same family but mecrock decides to marry a chocolate man instead of hazelnut dude. So yea, you can see different "skin tone" and also "features". I love both chocolate and hazelnut so yea, I would choose to be mecrock. Sweet and nutty, it was the best of both worlds. The tiramisu was not as dry and coarse as most tiramisu cake and ice cream out there, it was relatively mild but still creamy and smooth like the mecrocks. I guess marrying a dude from different family would make a better kid lol

Dark Chocolate Smile Jun 20, 2012   (Related Review)

Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate is good for health and personally I prefer dark chocolate over any other chocolate. The texture was denser and richer than the rest of the ice cream, but less creamy and soft. As you dig into it, you might have to exert more effort. Instead of having two different scoops of ice cream, I opted for one and only one. Dark chocolate is healthy and good thing is it is not that sweet!

Mecrock & Pistacchio Smile Jun 20, 2012

Mecrock & Pistacchio

Mecrock & Pistacchio

Mecrock is basically chocolate and hazelnut. Simply put, I love chocolate and chocolate with hazelnut is a combo. The pistacchio was as good as eating pistacchio alone, sans the crunchiness and the saltiness. You could smell the pistacchio before you even eat smile

The texture of ice cream was beyond the usual ice cream, not even Baskin Robbins, the off the shelf ice cream can fight with. So creamy and rich that I just wanted to dig into it. Good thing about it was the staff was very generous about the "scoops". it wasn't scoops per say as they use a flat utensil like those for frying pan.
