assam fish Smile Dec 30, 2013

1919 in the state of Perak is the original restaurant that recently opened a branch in KL
but the food is equally as good
the assam fish took the longest to prepare and was the last to be served at my table
the assam gravy wasn't as sourish as i have experienced in other restaurants
it was not as spicy either, so for those who are expecting a kick out of this, don't be too dissapointed
the asam fish had a so much long beans that it looks like long beans are the garnish for this dish and the only thing that adds color to the dish

vegetable curry Smile Dec 30, 2013   (Related Review)

1919 is very famous for its curry
this style of curry comes from Ipoh where it is sweeter and more richer in coconut milk
at 1919 the curry base or paste is the same but you can choose the content either vegetable, chicken, beef, or seafood
we were told that a lot of the big bosses from the offices in KL will dine there during lunch time
the vegetable curry had a medly of greens such as brinjal, cabbages and many more
with such a nice curry gravy i could not help myself but to ask for another bowl of rice
by the way, rice is counted per pax at 1919 so it is actually free flow without additional charge

deep fried brinjal Smile Dec 30, 2013   (Related Review)

the interior of 1919 is very cosy with all the orange light
on one part of their wall it has the motive of a tikar or the malay woven carpet

the deep fried brinjal is one of the best selling snacks at 1919
brinjal in itself is hard to cook because it can get soggy if fried for too long
but the chefs at 1919 has devised a way to keep it fresh and crunchy
it comes with a sweet chili dipping sauce

salted egg chicken Smile Dec 30, 2013

1919 is a yellow bungalow along jalan yap kwan seng
they serve their food and beverages on very authentic chinese porcelain pieces
so authentic that they even have chips on them

the salted egg chicken was recommended by the waiter
when served we didn't smell any unusual fragrance from the dish
the chicken were boneless and cut into nugget sizes for easy consumpiton
you can still see the egg yolk very clearly on each chicken piece
the egg was too much for me. i think it kind of overpowered the chicken

Categories : Malaysian variety | Food court

i bungkus a packet of nasi padang the other day
i had three different dishes together with my rice and the price came out to RM9
after me there was lady who also took 3 dishes but without rice and was charged RM9.50
so the rice no value wan la? funny business model

i took the lemak ayam and had the sauce drizzled on my white rice for the nice flavor
i took stir fried cabbages which were slight yellow because of the tumeric seasoning they added
and lastly i added a piece of telur kicap.
it was a very hearty and satisfying meal
