Vinegar Pork Trotter
this bowl of sour black broth was decent, with generous amount of meat. the ratio between sweetness and sourness was perfect. however, i wish the broth was thicker. it was watery but not diluted. i hope you understand what i am trying to say :/

Yong Tau Foo
the lead dish! a spread of yong tau foo stuffed with fresh fish paste. we had fried brinjal, fried sui kao (dumpling), and fried bean curd skin, served piping hot and crispy. while tofu, chili, lady finger and bittergourd swimming in clear soup full of sayur manis. each item is priced at RM 1, considered standard price in klang valley area!

white tofu was my favourite! berry smooth and silky . and brinjal! crisp on the outside while soft in the inside.

on the whole, yong tau foo was pretty good. service was brisk prolly because it’s already past lunchy time. i would definitely come back again if i have a craving for yong tau foo. Ampang’s is quite a distance away and too crowded, nah.

this picture doesn’t do justice to how GINORMOUS this plate was, i must add.

there’s chicken-, country- and porksausage, porkbelly, nuernbergers and chipolatas, grilled turkeybacon, ham, porkchop, porkpatties AND chickenmeatloaf serves with sauerkraut, crispy criss cut potatoes, onion sauce and mustard.

even typing these make me feel stuffed. this’s too muchy for two lasses who CAN really eat. we couldn’t finish it and have to outsource from LC and CV seimou. i think it can be shared among three person. the porkbelly was nice but the skin was a tad, i donno, sticky? it adhered to my inner cheek =.= . the patties were a tad hard, the ham and bacon were yum! processed meat was a tad salty for our liking.
Julian’s Mixed Grill | RM 30.80

LC and CV had this which consists of porkchop, beef tenderloin, lambchop, baconrasher and chipolatas

Goh Kaki OK Dec 28, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Noodles | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

Mid of this month we had a monthly labmates outing again! together we barbeque-ed, visited Ernest Zacharevic’s murals and cycled around George Town!

This time we visited this fairly new (then) cafe at Bishop Street!

GohKaki is ‘kaki lima’ / five feet way / corridor in Hokkien where people passes by or play badminton or park their bikes.

GohKaki Cafe is situated along the same street as The Cruise Steak House. it’s not that hard to locate the facade. however parking space is limited on weekday. it’s a busy street with many banks in vicinity. we went on a Sunday, the street was clear. #WIN.

sight from the entrance

Penang Ideology | RM 8.90
GohKaki Ice Nutmeg Milk.

we thought the milk is overpowering. it almost tasted like milk than nutmeg.

Still Black | RM 5.90
GohKaki DIY Kopi

Say No | RM 5.90
Chocolate Coffee

Wait staff told us the meaning behind this beverage. The choco wrapped in cold wrapper symbolizes coins which is ‘lui’ in Hokkien. And the drink is choc kopi. Say No to Kopi Lui. Get it?

Sambal Xia Mi Kaki Ku | RM 8.90
Cute right the turtle miku!

This’s the right way of eating it, spread the sambal in between the miku. My the other labmate who ordered the same dish had it ala steak style, cut the bun into small pieces and dipped in sambal. Lol. Eh if it’s me, I prolly will do the same too :/.

Wedding Field | RM 12.90
Belacan Rice, Chicken Meat with Sauce, Green Apple, Cucumber, Onion, Chilli & Dried Shrimp

This was what I had. So many thing going on the plate. I have a spoon of rice followed by strips of green apple alternated with cucumber. Pretty refreshing yet tasty dish I reckon.

Cheese Tic Tac Toe | RM 7.90

I must say the proprietor is creative with the dishes plating and name.

My dining partners were pretty fail in drawing cross and circle :/

the food ain’t its main attraction, the ambiance is. so i reckon it’s a place where you can have a tête a-tête with your besties over cuppa teas or coffee! if you’re there during weekend, you can even have some games which people used to play at GohKaki

apparently DÔME Café pioneered the cafe culture in KL when the Melium Group introduced the international café chain to the nation in 1995. since then, it has been a favourite hangout spot for Malaysian to get together with friends and family for a drink or bite (source: DOME's website).

i love the cosy ambiance, berry laid back and relaxing just what we busy students/working adults need.

Honeycomb Goldrush | RM 19
blended and topped with huge chunks of golden honeycomb chocolate.

jacgy strongly recommended this to everyone! and i can see why. it’s soooo rich but not cloying. and look at the whipped cream studded with honeycomb choco holy mama! <3

Coffee Twister | RM 19
blended with a shot each of espresso and chocolate as well as real, freshly roasted coffee beans. topped with a light dusting of chocolate.

Caramel Nut Brunch | RM 20
blended and topped with big chunks of chocolate filled with peanuts and caramel wafers.

front: Apple Crush | RM 13
it’s a simple mix of sweetened, crushed ice, flavoured with fresh apple and honey.

back: Berry Bliss | RM 19.50
ice cold milk poured over ice, real fruit puree of raspberries, strawberries and lashings of premium natural yogurt, then blended til it’s rich and smooth.

if you wanna have something lighter on palate, Apple Crush might be the one for you! a berry refreshing beverage!

Seafood Chowder | RM 22
a creamy seafood soup full of fish, prawns, mussels and squid rings, topped with croutons. served with fresh baguette slices.

Fisherman's Platter | RM 32
a seafood medley of lightly battered prawns, tempura calamari and crispy fish bites. served with fresh garden salad and three tasty dipping sauces.

Smoked Salmon | RM 28
filled with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, red onion and mesclun salad leaves. served with a sour cream and chive sauce and a side of wedges.

loved that they are generous with the serving of salmon, a thick slab of salmon yo! if you plan to have a quick bite, you might wanna consider this!

Gourmet Chicken Pie | RM 25
a homestyle chicken and mushroom filling topped with a golden pastry cap and served in a porcelain bowl. served with sautéed vegetables.

The Lot Burger | RM 27
grilled 100% beef burger with egg, beef bacon, romaine lettuce, tomato relish, sliced cheddar, mustard mayonnaise and fresh tomato in a toasted focaccia bun. served with chips. also available in chicken.

Tiramisu | RM 13
we ended the pleasant dinner with some desserts and one of them was this slice of tiramisu which was delectable!

Yummy Porky Burger Smile Jul 28, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

other than pork burger from Cafe 43 and Ric's Burger, charcoal burger from New York Pizza, and charcoal pork burger from Spade's Burger, there's Stacks Burger competing in Penang's burger scene now!

Stacks Burger located at Siam Road, is operated ala push cart style. seating is available in the shop lot, equipped with air-conditioner (phew!) so it's comfortable to dine in!

menu is pretty straightforward with only one Smoked BBQ Pork Burger, and you may pick to stack on or not. and only mineral water and canned drinks are available at the moment.

you'll be given number cards after placing your order. seems familiar? yeah the previous owners are acquaintance with the bossie of Spade's Burger, that's why ;)

now the owners are a few young entrepreneurs who work together to man this stall. two of them are acquaintance of mine. but rest assured, review is unbiased okie!

Smoked BBQ Pork Burger | RM 8.80

my friend had this, the orginal pork burger on the menu, without any add-on. the burger had a slice of cheddar cheese and a pork patty together with caramelized onions, BBQ sauce, and lettuce.

Smoked BBQ Pork Burger with pineapple rings and streaky bacon as stack-ons | RM 11.30

while i had this! with pineapple rings and bacon stacked on my burger!

i actually like the pork patty here! it's crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. and the pineapple rings added extra freshness to the burger, making it lighter. bacon on the other hand was too thin to my liking, i almost couldn't taste it. and i reckon, they can go easy on the mayonnaise, perhaps apply on one side of the bun is sufficient? sorry i watch my diet :/

if you read my review on ric's burger, i complimented on the patty but it's too greasy for consumption. the burger at Stacks Burger wasn't greasy at all!

however, the price was a lil' steep after stacking-on :/.

they said, beer and burger is a perfect match. what say you? ;)
