Lunch at Papa John's OK Jun 17, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Halal

Papa John's is in the IOI new wing, and just like Pizza Hut, it also has lunch deals from RM9.90.

Part of the family set. Pizza for 6 people (the pizza is a tad small at 9 inches...)

Tasty though, but not enough to fill the tummy...

Various colourful sauces and condiments...

Breadstick. Equal to Pizza Hut's version.

Good place to eat, but I reckon Pizza Hut is still the more economical and tasty + more variety choice.

Indian food with little fanfare OK Jun 09, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Seafood | Burgers / Sandwiches

There's this little place tucked inside the Scott Garden Mall( which is amazing to look at but seriously messy to find the way around) called De Chennai Cafe. The place is just like your average school canteen, and is hidden behind some bigger shops. I actually walked for 1 hour or more before finding the place! you can imagine how upset I was.

However, the owner cum the chef was really nice. Food is respectable too, if I may say so.

"Manggo lassi". Sweet, but it tasted more like mango juice than lassi. Nontheless for a sweet tooth like me, I'll take it still tongue

Briyani Mutton. The plate was not your usual big restaurant's "big plate small portion" business. The mutton portion was generous, and not too spicy, which was a big bonus for me as well.

If you're a sweet tooth you should try their deserts as well, which is supposedly made by real Indian chefs from India. I tried their cake that tasted like kuih but much sweeter (not sure of the name).

Not too bad, but unless they come up with promotions, probably won't go back anytime soon. The parking is a big issue at the mall after all. ;)

Strawberry Puding drink Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Stall / Warung | Halal | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

When one thinks about Chatime, most think only about their bubble tea series, which is hugely popular.

Chatime Galleria can be seen even from the bukit bintang monorail station...

As you can see, business is booming...

The transparent shade above our heads. A nice place to sit and chat,or you can take away even. smile

As for me, I tried something different. I tried the strawberry puding drink was was strawberry smoothie plus mango jelly at the bottom. totally refreshing, and great for non- bubble lovers. Take the big cup, since its only a ringgit difference(RM7.90). Definitely recommended lol

One would usually never venture out of IOI mall if one is not adventurous. However, there is a place that is worth a visit if you're into buffets. It's called I Love You Shabu Shabu, and it's located next to the IOI new wing.
Kaitan Belt in action

Kaitan Belt in action

This place is a fusion of japanese (kaitan belt) and buffet, which is a combo that is worth a try.

they also have a section for fried stuff like various fried noodles, fried snacks eg fried wontons and sausages, and a section for drinks as well.
Soup bases

Soup bases

You have a few soup bases to choose from, like herbal, tom yam, ABC soup etc. All are equally nice, and when your soup runs dry, you can always ask them to refill clear boiled soup.

How the mini dishes from the kaitan belt look. They have a fair variety, mostly fishballs etc.
Pork slices!

Pork slices!

What I love about this buffet is that you can repeatedly go ask for sliced meat. they have a few choices, beef, pork, and lamb slices.
Lamb slices, my favourite

Lamb slices, my favourite

For me the highlight is the lamb slices, it always keeps me going back for more. what you do is you dip the thinly sliced meat into the soup for 10 -20 seconds, and when the meat turns whitish, you take it up and eat it! Delicious meat that melts in the mouth...

Your soup will become more tasty as you add stuff in. Point to note: when in these places, try not to take noodles as they get soaked very easily and puff up, causing you to not be able to enjoy other items!

Its a nice place to have buffet, and you can come with your friends and slowly enjoy the food. Shabu shabu I love you! smile

Recommended Dish(es):  Thinly sliced meat, especially the lamb slices

It took me a while to find, but I finally located Jojo's little Kitchen in Jalan Kenari, on the same row with PHD (pizzahut delivery).

A homey little place with basic wooden chairs and tables.

A menu was given to us almost immediately as we were one of the earliest. People started streaming in later.
Green apple- water chestnut drink

Green apple- water chestnut drink

For drinks, I decided to try something unconventional, so to say. Green apple water chestnut (RM3.50 If I'm not mistaken) was a refreshing drink, not too sweet, with chewy bits at the bottom. One of my recommended drinks, definitely.
Fried wontons. Normal.

Fried wontons. Normal.

Fried wanton came next, 8 pieces for RM5. Nothing special, I recommend you save your money for something else.
Herbal chicken Pan Mee

Herbal chicken Pan Mee

Main dishes! There is the traditional pan mee with soup or dry choices. For once, I decided to be a little adventurous by trying Herbal Pan Mee (RM8). It tasted like Pan mee in proper herbal chicken soup. Even the chicken portion was generous. Do try it if you're up for an adventure, and if you like herbal stuff smile
Sotong ball panmee with milk

Sotong ball panmee with milk

Sotong ball panmee with milk (RM8) turned out to be a good choice as well, with the soup texture cream-milkish tasting. Pan mee was machine made, but you have the choice of thick or thin or "pinched"
Tau Fu Fa - worth a try

Tau Fu Fa - worth a try

For tau fu fa (about RM1.20 if I remember correctly), they have choices of brown sugar and conventional white sugar. Took the white one, and was satisfied. Not too sweet, and tau fu fa was soft and melts in the mouth.

Verdict: Pan mee with lots of choices. Prices are slightly higher than your average hawker stall, but then again you pay for the variety, the creativity and the ambiance, not to mention the higher quality.
