Fish and More! OK Mar 17, 2016

It has been awhile since I’ve last been to Manhattan Fish Market. The food there can be quite pricey for us students thus we rarely dine in there. Just that day my friends and I decided to have dinner there because it has been so long.

The restaurant was crowded with a sea of people because it was dinner time on a weekend but luckily we managed to find a seat quickly. I love how friendly their staff were and how creative the restaurant was by decorating the restaurant with posters and napkins that are related to fishing to associate with the restaurant. I ordered salmon fish with mashed potatoes and hot veggies which consisted of broccoli and carrots. The portion of my meal was rather small and costed me a bomb. I paid RM 26.39 after GST for my meal and I don’t think it was worth that money. I could even count the number of steamed vegetables on my plate.

My friends on the other hand ordered the cherry snapper with mashed potatoes and hot veggies as well and she commented that it tasted just okay. The flavours were quite bland and there was not much seasoning. It costed RM 24.77 for the cherry snapper. As for the fish and chips (dory fish) that my other friend ordered, she said it tasted quite good and the portion was big. In my opinion, their dory fish n chips is still the best among the other dishes that we have tasted. The price was slightly cheaper as compared to the other fishes as well as it was RM 20.03.

Hungry Bunch Smile Mar 17, 2016

It was an ordinary day in university and as usual my friend and I didn’t know what to have to lunch. Since we have quite a long lunch break, we decided to go to Sunway Pyramid for lunch! We were in the mood for spaghetti and thus we all agreed to have lunch in Hungry Bunch.

The ambience of the restaurant was really cozy and nice, the lights were dim there thus giving us this ‘romantic vibe’. We were starving and so we quickly ordered our food. I had the marinara seafood spaghetti while my friend had the creamy carbonara spaghetti. I’ve always been a fan of marinara spaghetti because I prefer tomato based pasta to cream based pasta.

Our food arrived quickly and at the first sight of my food, the plating was really good and my mouth began to water. The portion was just right and there were a generous amount of seafood like mussels, shrimps and calamari on the plate. I simply love how chunky and flavorful the tomato puree was and I enjoyed every bit of my pasta.
The creamy carbonara on the other hand was really filling. According to my friend, the cream sauce was thick and really rich thus it filled up her stomach very quickly. Despite the portion of the pasta which was just nice, she was unable to finish it due to the thick and creamy sauce. However, she did say that the flavour was on point.

Fish Head Noodles Smile Mar 16, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

Fish Head Noodles has been one of my favourite noodles and Homemade Fish Head Noodles shop is a place where I would satisfy my fish head noodles cravings. After 8 hours of boiling, it is no surprise that the infamous milky white broth would turn out to be so rich and delicious! I love how flavourful the broth was and the mee hoon brings out the best of the broth as the mee hoon absorbs all the good essence and flavours of the soup.
Since the fish head was served separately, you wouldn’t have to worry that the fried fish head will turn soggy and would not be crispy enough. Besides that, the fried fish head was not fishy smelling at all as it was fried to a golden brown. The dish was completed with ginger, picked mustard greens and tomatoes! The tomatoes are the reason why the dish had just the right amount of acidity and sourness. This fried fish head noodles is one appetising dish! Only for RM 10.90, you can savour into a bowl of goodness! I personally recommend all of you to give this a try.

Burger!  OK Mar 16, 2016
Categories : Western variety | Burgers / Sandwiches

Friends of Burger is a relatively new fast food name for me and I came across the shop the other day and so I decided to give it a try. They were having a promotion where I will get a free soft drink as well as free fries when I purchase their burger. Hmm, I thought it was a fairly good deal and so I went in and ordered their fish burger. It was RM 11 for the fish burger, free fries and drink.
The burger itself was not bad, the slice of cheddar cheese tasted unlike those melted cheese in Carls’ Junior or McDonalds’, it tasted not bad but the texture to me was abit weird. The fish was very fresh and tasted really good. The portion of the burger was just nice but can be really filling due to the big slice of fish. I would pay RM 11 for the burger and fries with drinks but not for the burger only. If I’m not mistaken, without this promotion, the set meal will cost around RM 18.

Kampar Old Town Smile Mar 16, 2016

Whenever I’m indecisive as to what I’m going to eat for lunch, I will always turn to prawn noodles! Kampar Old Town is just a stone’s throw away from my house thus I’m considered a frequent customer. The prawn noodles there is one of the best prawn noodles I’ve ever tasted. Although the price is slightly pricier than the prawn noodles you eat in hawker stalls, the taste was not compromised. For RM 7.90 per bowl, you will get the enjoy the mee hoon soaked in aromatic richly flavoured prawn soup, served with prawns, pork slices, fish cake slices, kangkung, egg and bean sprouts topped with fried shallots. One thing I love about their prawn noodles is their soy egg!! The soy egg was really flavourful and I love the fact that they serve soy egg in my prawn noodles rather than just ordinary boiled egg.

My dad on the other hand ordered their set lunch for the day, which was steamed minced pork with mui choy, rice, vegetables of the day and a choice of barley or herbal drink. The portion was just right for a person and I think the price was rather reasonable for so many components.
