Best nasi lemak in town! Smile Feb 04, 2016

Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

My all-time favourite place to have brunch after intensive workout is Village Park! Sinful yet irresistible, village park nasi lemak’s star of the dish is the big piece of fried chicken!! The nasi lemak there is really comfort food, where you don’t mind having it every week.

However, one thing that hinders me from going there too often is that the place is always packed with people!! Thus, people are always waiting to get a seat and it is quite a hassle looking out for seats. Patience is virtue really applies here if you want to eat good food.
The most important component of a plate of nasi lemak is the sambal!! The sambal in Village Park nasi lemak has just the right balance of sweet and spiciness. The sambal isn’t too spicy, so for those people who can’t really eat spicy food, you will be able to eat the whole plate of nasi lemak without having to sweat and drink lots of water.

What I love most about Village Park’s nasi lemak is its fried chicken!! The fried chicken has a crispy skin and juicy on the inside. The fried chicken is really finger licking good ! A must try for everyone!!

Thai Thai Smile Feb 03, 2016

If you're searching for a place that serves authentic Thai food, Thai Thai will be the destination that you have been looking for. Thai Thai has always been my favourite place to dine in, because the food there are really good and the ambience is really comfortable and romantic (romantic due to the dim lights). Perfect for families or couples!

If you’re dining with your other halfit will be preferable to order the individual meal rather than ordering a few dishes because it can be quite pricey. But good food pays for a high price. I ordered the Tom Yum seafood mee hoon soup because according to the menu, it was rated as chef recommendation and the spiciness level was really high. I decided to take up the challenge because I think I have high tolerance in eating spicy food. My other half ordered their signature pineapple fried rice. It looks good on the menu and so he ordered that to give it a try.

The food came quite fast as we went there before lunch time and there weren’t much people. Normally the place will be packed with people especially during dinner times!! So if you’re planning to have dinner there, make sure you go there early or book reservations. My tom yum seafood mee hoon soup looks really appetising!! There were fish, cuttlefish, prawns, and mushrooms in the midst of the noodles. The noodles were soaked in tom yum soup and so the tom yum flavour had already immersed into the fine noodles. The flavours were bursting in my mouth and it was really really spicy. But I love it so much as it was a delight finishing the bowl of noodles. I was enjoying every second of it.

As for the pineapple rice, the rice was really flavourful and simply scrumptious. I think it was the best pineapple rice I’ve ever tasted so far!!

Who says you can't eat good Thai food without going to Thailand?

Best Hokkien Mee in town!!! Smile Jan 31, 2016

My mum and I were craving for some really good hokkien me and so we went for supper at the famous Ah Wa hokkien mee located at SS14. We heard from our relatives that Ah Wa uses charcoal fire to fry their noodles! So it must be really good because charcoal fire can really make a huge difference to the taste of Hokkien mee.

And after our satisfying supper, I was affirmative that hokkien mee fried under charcoal fire really tasted so much better. The noodles had just the right amount of texture (which is the gooey-ness). And not to mention the smell, it just makes my mouth waters. The noodles were really fragrant, especially when the nooddles were transferred from the wok to the plate. And when they finally served us, I quickly digged in and every bite just makes me want more. To complement the mouth watering hokkien mee, the chilli sauce plays an important role too! The chilli sauce had just the right amount of sweetness and heat. Besides that, the portion was just right for 2 person. But I wish there was more (becasue it taste really goood!)

Apart from the hokkien mee that was simply irresistable, the wat tan hor was really good too! Another word for Wat tan hor is flat rice noodles drenched in egg gravy. I love how thick and light the egg starch gravy was at the same time! I think what makes Ah Wa's wat tan hor stands out was that some rice wine was added into the dish. I could taste the wine and it really elevated the dish.

Today is probably my 6th time dining in Map’s! This is the only café that I have dined in for so many times!! This is because the food here are really good and they serve the best bacon!! And partly because this café is located really near my university so it is really convenient for me to drop by and have brunch.

They have really nice deco in the café and the café plays some really good music. It is one of the place where you can have a peaceful and quiet lunch and get your mind off your work for a while.

I’ve tried several food from their menu: Porky Pancakes, Big Breakfast and Creamy Carbonara with Bacon, BLT sandwich and Porky Meatballs! I would say big breakfast and their porky pancakes are the best among the food I’ve tasted there.

Their roasted potatoes are to die for!!! They are seasoned very well and very crispy. My sister would always steal some of my potatoes each time we had our lunch there. Undeniably, their bacon is still the star of the dish. Maybe it is just me devoting my life towards bacon or bacon just tastes really, really, really good.

The portions for the big breakfast and BLT sandwich are rather huge, so you’ll leave Map's with a happy and full tummy. Their porky meatballs drenched in brown sauce are really yummy too but quite filling. So far I don’t really fancy their creamy carbonara with bacon because I tasted better carbonara pasta and I think you should opt for either the big breakfast or porky pancakes when you’re at Map’s.

Their set lunch comes with a glass of freshly squeezed juice but only for the BLT Sandwich, Porky Pancakes and Creamy Carbonara with Bacon.

My best friend, Michelle called me up for lunch and so we went on a food hunting trip again! We were pretty adventurous when it comes to searching for good food, and this time we found this hidden gem called Hide and Seek cafe at Equine Park! They served really affordable good food and for a cafe, it is really rare to see the pricing of the food to be less than RM10!!
Michelle and I ordered their bacon mushroom aglio olio pasta which was only RM9.90 for such a decent cafe!!! And the best part was, our meal comes with ice lemon tea as it was a set lunch. Unbelievable!! I don’t think I can find any other cafe that serves such economical good food!
Our bacon mushroom aglio olio pasta was delicious! Not only it was cheap, the dish was flavourful and the portion was pretty generous. This cafe is one of my favourite places to go for lunch!
