Kuma Mono at Vivacity Megamall Smile Apr 13, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Taiwanese | Stall / Warung | Burgers / Sandwiches | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

The bear has invaded the town! Stay calm, Kuma the bear is super adorable. Showing the bear’s paw with its unique pads, Kuma Mono will make you unwillingly in biting the bun once you hold it on your hand.

This Taiwanese street snack stall has worked on a concept of take-and-go, with Kuma bun that appears in the shape of bear’s paw as the main treasure of the stall. The bun has come with 3 flavours: milk, brown sugar and wholegrain, and you can choose to sandwich it together with Kuma’s chicken, Karage crispy chicken, Karage spicy chicken or Oishii fish fillet and add in condiment of tarta sauce, black pepper sauce, chhesse or sesame sauce. The presentation of the whole sandwich is very attractive but most importantly, the chicken is crisp from the outside and juicy from the inside. One thing should be improved by the stall owner is thinking of a way to get rid of the smell of the frozen bun, as it is not in a pleasant aroma of a freshly bake bun. Besides Kuma bun, the stall also serves curry fish balls, wedges, and drinks.

Meatless Indulgence at Idealite Smile Apr 13, 2016

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Ramen/Udon/Soba | Vegetarian

Despite all the recognitions, achievements, and awards earned and won, Idealite has no doubt provided a variety of pleasing to the eyes vegetarian diet, and focusing on health. Playing its role in promoting wholesome dining, discount to the selected menu is given via Groupon unconventionally. As a matter of fact, ‘healthy food’ is usually brought another name as ‘pricey food’, so through the discount campaigns or websites, the restaurant will reach out to more people and indirectly makes education to come about.

This outlet that located at Jalan Rock, Kuching has a homey touch, with both actual and decorative plants used to attend the foodies. The pumpkin & vegetable meal and bak kut teh vermicelli that I have ordered today are very colourful and appetizing. Both pumpkin & vegetable meal and bak kut teh vermicelli are healthy sets contained with carbohydrate, protein, vitamins and minerals.

The pumpkin & vegetable meal consists of steam brown rice, potato in sweet sauce, pumpkin cubes that soak in 3-types mushrooms broth, and other veggie condiments. It is completed with watermelon that cover by black sesame sprinkle as dessert. If you presume the vegetarian shows no way in defeating the ‘bak’ (meat) in the bak kut teh, you should try this bak kut teh vermicelli served at Idealite. The big bowl that presented in a variety of mushrooms such as Shiitake, Oyster, and Lion’s mane have provided the crunchy bite and enhanced the aroma of the soup. Other ingredients include egg, cabbage, bean curd, and wolfberries (gou ji). It is so good until you can easily gulp down the whole serving and let out a satisfactory burp. Oops, excuse me.

Among the five senses that located at the taste buds of the human tongue, the sweet area is positioned at the tip of the tongue. This could be the reason on why sweetness is easily recognised, accepted and welcomed by most people. Besides, sweetness can consider the ‘less painful’ as compare to the others. Hence, desserts that mostly work on the basic of sweetness are always on a welcoming state.

Evaluating on the sesame soup/paste and chocolate orange cheesecake ordered today, I’ll say they offer a ‘hypnotizing take’ as sweetness can bring the feeling of happiness and the aphrodisiac element in the chocolate has worked its magic of relaxing our nerves. The sesame soup is smooth and of a moderate sweetness. This aromatic dessert is not only delicious but a healthy choice. Crunchy cookie bits can be felt in the cheesecake, this has created the fun biting experience. The only drawback of Secret Recipe’s cakes is they are too sweet for most of its cakes, this chocolate orange cheesecake has no exception as well. However, it does not hinder the joy of treating one’s sweet gateway here and feel the difference.

Simplicity at Simply Fish OK Feb 29, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Seafood | Nasi Lemak

This newly opened shop is called ‘Simply Fish’, located at Rock Road. As humble as the shop called itself, here offers the fish based delicacy that highlights the original and authentic fish taste without letting the condiments to steal its feature. The serving here is suitable for those who wants to give his taste buds a break and enjoy the less-heavy flavour. The price is reasonable for the fresh fish meat.

On one hand, as the plain taste won’t cause a burden to your palates, on the other, it might be too plain at times, that you need the condiments such as soy sauce and chili to enhance your appetite. The shop also sell pok piah with RM3 per roll. Just come and have a try here.

Economy Rice at Kopitiam YenShan Smile Feb 29, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Mixed rice

Economy rice or mix rice or fast food, whatever the name it carries, this type of eating out is definitely the most favourable choice among Malaysians. Ranging from the variety to the flavours, customers can select the deep fried, stir fried, steamed, boiled, baked, and stewed, the cooking style that suit their taste buds.

What makes the economy rice at YenShan a favourite choice is due to a few factors: the price is still economic, the savoury of the food, the almost equal number of vegetables and meat source, and is really appealing in terms of the colour and selection. It is only RM3.50 if you take 1 type of meat and 1 type of vegetable, with free flow soup of the day. I would recommend dry curry pork, pumpkin fish, mamy chicken and fried French bean. However the only one flaw that this stall owner makes is the food could be quite salty at times, although the heavy flavour is always inviting, you have to drink more water then. Visit Kopitiam YenShan at Demak Laut, Sejingkat to savour your tummy.
