Based on a recommendation by my mom's friend, we made our way to Cheras to try dishes from Eight Treasures restaurant. Considering how hot today was, I really did not want to leave the house so you could imagine how sour my mood was by the time we arrived.

I had no intention nor desire to eat as I sulked and wished to be anywhere but outdoors. However I left feeling a hundred times better becasue the food served was very good.

We got fish paste stuffed chillis and it's weird, because the ones we usually get at Yong Tao Fu places uses red chillis. Yet here they served us green and I really really liked them - I don't know how to explain the difference in taste but there just is. Plus it was deep fried and served piping hot, which is just the way I liked these.

This however was not my favourite because it was stir-fried petai with minced pork & bean sprouts. There was just too much of the former for me to enjoy anything about it because every piece of meat stank of the petai which I really could not stomach.

And because I wanted some green veggies to compensate the stinky dish, we got ourselve a nice plate of stir-fried HK kailan with garlic. This I liked and probably finished the entire dish myself since the other were more into the petai dish. No complaints coming from me that's for sure.

Then came the dish that I really really liked that day was the deep fried fish, one for each of us. I am not a hundred percent sure what kind of fish it was, but it tasted really good because it was well seasond before being deep fried to crisp golden perfect. Almost all the bones could be eaten and the head too because that's how crispy it was.

Even though I went there expecting the worst because of my sour mood, I do like the food served at Eight Treasures. Would probably return whenever we get the chance to.

Going on the recommendation from someone else, we visited Monte's for lunch because that day we were craving for some western food. It was a little after the usual lunch rush hour so there wasn't many people dining there, but there were still a few tables occupied. So it was not long before we were led to a table and given menus.

For starters we ordered half a dozen of garlic & cheese baked escargots. Although slightly expensive as it is Rm26 just for just six snails, I think this tasted pretty good. Just the right amount of garlic cream and also the cheese which coats the morsel nicely. I would have licked the entire dish if I wasn't in a public restaurant.

As for the mains, we got the lunch set to share because we were not very hungry after all. We got the Black Pepper Chicken Chop that came with a side salad and drink. This tasted really good as the sauce has a very nice spice from the black pepper and the chicken although crunchy was not too dry. The salad was ohkay but nothing to shout about and as for the wedges, I liked them.

There are many other things on the menu which sounded pretty interesting to me. So I will most definitely be back to try them even if it is slightly on the more pricey side.

There have been quite a lot of hype about Le Pont - both negative and positive. I've also seen quite a lot of pretty pictures of the cafe on Instagram and also Facebook but have never got the chance to visit until recently.

Based on recommendation, I ordered the Vegetarian Lasagne which I shared with my good friend. It has roasted vegetables in between each layer and topped with some capers. It was Italian in every bite and I totally did not notice the missing meat element from the dish too.

Although I would prefer if my lasagne was hotter when it got to our table. But other than that this dish was pretty good for the rm25.90 price tag.

My order of Rose Latte priced at Rm12.90. This was a first time for me because it's not something I see a lot on regular cafe menus and probably was not a popular order. But I think this might just be almost as good as my Caramel Latte order. There's a very subtle rose flavour and sweetness in the coffee which makes it feel a little more special, then I feel a little bit more classy drinking it.

There are many more things on the menu that I've yet to try so I'd definitely be back.

There is something very interesting about the way Marche operates. Unlike any other restaurant they do not provide you a menu of set dishes that you choose from to eat. But instead they have different sections of raw produce where you can pick what you want then have the chef there cook it to your liking.

I think I spent more time walking around the restaurant looking at all the produce than actually deciding what to eat. It felt almost as if I was grocery shopping at a rather small but upscale grocer. So at the end I just left the decision making up to my mom cause she's dined there several times before.

For sides, we ordered some sauteed button mushrooms with garlic and also sprouts sauteed the same way. These two were my favourite option a side dishes which was why we chose them, but it's not exactly the best I've eaten at a restaurant. Though I do like how the dishes were freshly prepared as we order them so neither of them were soggy.

This was the best dish of the night. It's Grilled Chicken thighs with buttered grilled corn and mash potatoes. The meat was succulent and nicely grilled without being overly dry. Plus it had an amazing flavour from the rub on the meat and I liked the skin because it was somewhat crispy.

Would have this dish again when I do go back there.

NOODLES GALLORE Smile Nov 26, 2015

After spending eight days in Sydney, I was dying for some really good Chinese comfort food. Especially something very soupy and hot. Although I did not exactly know what I was strongly craving for.

So when mom and I went to Vivo home, she brought me to Kim Lian Kee where she's had their noodles several times before with other family members and they all enjoyed it. It should come as no surprise that I would too.

For myself, I ordered the Lao Shu Fun with an added egg. This food reminds me of my childhood because my mom makes really good one and I've been struggling to find a restaurant that cooks something remotely similar. But the one I had that night was so good, although not same as the one my mother makes, it's still very delicious.

Plus the added egg makes the whole thing more creamy & indulgent. I finished this whole pot of noodles to myself just to satisfy my long craving.

Then because this was also something I was dying to have and a favourite of my mom's, we ordered the Loh Mee. This too was also very good especially after adding some black vinegar to give it more sour-ness which I prefer rather than the simple taste. The one served here has just the right amount of thickness to the soup and also very good flavour. Would happily just finish the whole bowl of soup even after enjoy my claypot lao shu fun.

Apparently they serve good hokkien noodles and also other kind but I've yet to try them. Which gives me a good reason to go back.
