Fishee Indeed Smile Aug 26, 2015

The choice to drop by Fishee Cafe was completely by coincidence. However this place has definitely been catching many hearts ever since it first opened in an entirely new area in Bukit Jalil.

So when my friend and I arrived around 2pm on a Saturday, it shouldn't be a surprise that we had to wait for a table. The place was bustling with young ones enjoying some late lunch and coffee. That should come as no surprise since the inside of the cafe is not the largest and if I had to guess, the place could sit about maximum 40 people at most. By then it would be uncomfortably noisy already so it's not ideal.

Though I do see the hype about this cafe. The interior is rustically and prettily decorated making the entire place very cosy. Though I was shivering because the aircond was pretty strong, so despite it being filled with people, the inside was still very cold. The menu is minimalistic at best. They even put a single flower at the table to make things a little bit prettier. Plus isn't this very picture-worthy?

Please note that you are to place your order at the counter and pay there too as they do not require a service charge fee. However your drink and food will be delivered to your table by the wait staff.
I should also add that the staff are very friendly despite the 'no service charge' rule. They deserve many extra points for that especially since nobody was frustrated despite the crowd.
Small in size.

Small in size.

As always, my first choice of order at any cafe is always a Cafe Latte. This time I had it hot because I was already freezing and oddly enough, it's the cheaper option as it only cost me Rm9.00. But if you choose to have it cold then it will be one ringgit more. Maybe for the ice?

Though! I have to add that this Cafe Latte is actually pretty good although it was quite a small cup. This was not overly milky that the coffee taste is completely diluted nor was it incredibly sweet. Just right!

Since I had not eaten my lunch yet, I quickly diverted my attention to the food section of the menu. Admittedly it is much smaller than I have anticipated as they have one page for desserts and another for sandwiches & pasta (only available after 12pm)

A Fishee barista recommended is the Pee-Nana toast where there's chocolate spread atop toast with banana slices. It does sound good but I was hungry for something more and opted for the savoury option, hence I ordered the Eggee-Ham Toast.

I was pleasantly surprised when my dish arrived. The bread was quite a thick and big crusty piece, slathered generously with cream cheese, then there's a slice of ham atop lettuce and also cheese which I guess to be Cheddar. Then to top it all off is a very nicely fried egg.

Simple and straightforward combination, but I enjoyed every single bite.

They also have something very interesting which is the Wafflegato that's highly recommended - imagine a normal Affogato except it comes with freshly made waffle. The table next to mine ordered it and I would have if I was not stuffed from the open-faced sandwich.

Fishee Cafe is definitely a place I will return to. In fact I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Healthy!  Smile Aug 26, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Vegetarian

There are days where our body needs something healthy and goes as far as to crave it like mad. Plus, in my effort to eat clean and tone up my body, naturally I would need to find places that do not serve overly MSG laden or fattening food. Thankfully there are several, if not many, restaurants around the city and near my office for this purpose.

Kafe Love Earth is my go to place as it is only a 5 minutes drive away from my office. Plus they serve my favourite Lei Cha set lunch every Tuesdays which never fails to satisfy my healthy cravings.
Fruity and delicious

Fruity and delicious

Rasberry Tea, Rm 11, is always served for two. The taste of this tea is never diluted and each sip just refreshes you as the scent of the fruit plus citrusy taste overwhelms your tastebuds. Plus this restaurant allows however many refills of hot water that you would like without any extra charge.

That is definitely a good thing.
Strong flavoured and filling

Because I specially chose to visit this restaurant on a Tuesday, they had this Lei Cha lunch set priced at Rm8.90 which I happily ordered for myself.

Coming from a Hakka family, this is definitely a very nostalgic dish as it's something of a heritage of a sort to me. Unfortunately however because of how tedious it is to prepare this dish - there are so many ingredients to wash/cut/steam/blend etc. and also the amount of time taken to boil the soup, it isn't cooked very often at home.

So I was very pleased to know that Kafe Love Earth serves this dish and it did not disappoint at all. The soup was thick and incredibly fragrant, unlike a few places I have had where it was just watery and bland. The bowl of rice was generous in portions, so were the vegetables that it came topped with.

Definitely a very hearty meal for lunch. However, because this place is organic, you won't feel guilty.

Another dish which we ordered that is fast becoming my favourite is the Herbal Soup and Rice set priced at Rm 9.90.

The soup tasted heavily of the herbs that they used to boil the soup. But because it is vegetable based, the soup was incredibly clear and not at all oily. Plus the set is filling because they offer you lots of different ingredients in the soup like assorted mushrooms, soft tofu and fried beancurd tofu and a side of rice to go with.

All in all, Kafe Love Earth is not only good to cleanse your body every now and then with organic & healthy food, they also serve delicious tasting food. So you won't dread eating clean and instead, look forward to it. Plus it is so affordable which means I can go back often without crying in pain for my wallet!
Supplementary Information:
There is no meat served here. Though I do not believe that this restaurant is Halal, but I may be wrong. They also sell organic ingredients here if you wish to buy some food to cook at home yourself.

Dinner with the girls Smile Feb 11, 2016

For another girl's night only dinner with my best friend, we found ourselves trying out this new joint in town. It was rather difficult to find but the ambience is quite nice once we were inside. Although the outside looks rather dodgy, do not be fooled by that as Black Market has a rather classy interior.

To share we ordered the rather popular oven baked pork ribs that was coated in a super thick black pepper sauce. I liked this because it was different than the usual sweet and smokey barbeque sauce which I never really liked. Plus the meat was incredibly tender that it near fell off the bone and yet had a nice crust on the outside. Though the side salad was disappointing.

Another main we ordered to share was the prawn baked over rice with cream sauce and cheese. I had picked this because the picture was hella alluring so I got it however it was a little disappointing when it arrived. The prawns were nowhere as big as I expected and definitely not worth the steep price tag it came with. Even if the cream sauce was super decadant and yummy baked over the rice.

Personally I feel like the food here is a hit or miss. However if you're looking for a nice night out and want to splurge a little, then definitely give Black Market a try.

Soup Smile Jan 07, 2016

A friend of mine really loves eating Dragon-I and whenever we visit Pavillion, this would be her first choice. The second would be Din Tai Fung which is often just as busy as the former. I suspect that her adoration with these two restaurants stems from her Shanghainese lineage. But I would go along with her suggestions and try the foods too, which usually comes introduced by her.

The one thing that she said is a must-order is the Chilled Spicy Chicken Szechuan Style. Now I've never been a fan of food that is not heated up, but this one is actually pretty good. I think it's the spicy sauce that coats the cold meat. However if you're not good with spice then I suggest scraping off all the chilli oil before taking a bite of this.

Now this is my absolute favourite and a must order for me. XIAO LONG PAAAAAAOOOOOO.

So this is basically small little meat dumplings which also has soup on the inside. Whenever the basket is serve to you, you would take a CAREFUL bite of the dumpling & happily slurp up the soup inside before eating the rest of your delicious parcel. Perhaps add a little black vinegar with ginger to it which will enhance its flavours even more.

I alone can eat four of these and even more if there isn't any other order. But then it wouldn't exactly be the cheapest dumpling either as its coming from Dragon-I. However it is one of the best that I have eaten.

Rice Bowls Smile Jan 06, 2016   (Related Review)

That day at lunch with my friend at Jaya One, she ordered the Katsudon which is just fried chicken fillet over rice with a soft boiled egg. I quite like her order over my beef one because the meat was nicely flavoured from the batter and also perfectly crisp.

So over a bed of hot rice with a perfectly poached egg which you would break then let the yolk coat each grain. Then for added flavours we also added a little bit of soya sauce and also the dried chilli oil that was provided.

The portion at the price of Rm11 is pretty substantial. Plus if this isn't enough for you then you have additional sides as an add-on for no more than a couple of ringgits, so that would most definitely make your meal more filling.

Can't wait to be back for a good hearty meal and also a good chat with my best friend. smile
