After doing my grocery shopping at Isetan, KLCC - I thought to just sit down and enjoy a good Japanese meal before heading home. Spotting Senya long ago, I was intrigued by the dining concept as it remained true to its Japanese homage and also was not to exorbent in pricing. 

Laid out at the counter are already boxed bento-like meal. You can either purchase those to be taken away or eat at their restaurant. They also have a menu which you can order off of with items such as teriyaki chicken, assorted types of ramen and different types of rice bowls.

A friend had told me how good their Chicken Kaarage rice bowl was and spotting it already prepared, I took that. Although I'd usually like my meal to be steaming hot, I opted to just eat my rice bowl without being re-heated with a nice glass of hot green tea to enjoy.The first thing that struck me was the aroma of the chicken and the sauce that it was doused in. Until today I am still unsure what kind of sauce it was but there's a hint of ginger, garlic and maybe some soy sauce. It was so good as it gave the meat extra flavourings.

I enjoyed my rice bowl a lot and ate everything down to the very last grain of rice. Although I can say that it took me quite a while because for Rm17, if I remember correctly, the portion was quite huge with a lot of adequately sized chicken pieces.

Now I can't wait to go back and try other things from their menu. 

I've recently learned that Spanish style dining revolves quote a lot around Tapas style dining. Just like how we chinese/asian have variety of dishes to be shared, so do they only in different kind of flavours. My first time trying Tapas style dinner was at La Bodega.The Deep Fried Goat's Cheese caught my attention. Honestly there's nothing more satisfying and indulgent other than fried cheese that's super melty & creamy on the inside while remaining super crisp outside. Although there was only three pieces, I find it just enough because anymore than would have just left me feeling sick.

While the cheese was nicely salty, there was some sort of citrusy honey drizzled over it. So this gives an added sweetness so the fried cheese isn't one dimensional in taste. To share, I got the Linguine Alfredo with beef bacon. This was oddly like carbonara except it is more cheesy in flavour rather than cream. I quite like it especially with the crispy bits on the top and the pasta was just nicely al-dente. 

However after two or three bites I was quite done with this because it was just too creamy. So I was quite jelak after that and full after the cheese then another creamy + cheesy dish.

There are so many things on the menu that I wanted to try, so I'll definitely be back for those. Plus I like the ambience at La Bodega, especially in the eveningwhen the weather isn't so very hot.

It's been quite some time since I last visited Publika but I do enjoy going there just for the food. Although there isn't much to shop there except for when there is some bazaar or some event going around there. However I do like that I am quite spoiled for choice when it comes to eating. 

That day, I was feeling like some burger and finally brought myself to try FatBoy's burger. Sometime back this place was all the hype & people would have to line up for a long time just to try their 'famous' burgers. Though the place was pretty empty when I visited for lunch that day which is kind of odd but also good for me cause no waiting time. I ordered the simple Fat Bastard that comes with a side of fries & also some lettuce and tomato. The fries was larger than regular fast food joint ones but it was more soggy than there were any crisp - also tasted like it's been fried an hour back then kept heated. Not salted enough so it was slightly bland but I made due with some dipping condiment.The burger, it's good. But then there really isn't nothing to shout about cause this tasted just like a regular cheese burger to me. I didn't like that the bun was not toasted enough so it was just soft & slightly soggy after a while. However the meat was pretty good because it's nicely marinated and the cheese slice was quite nice.

Though I don't think I'd go back again for another because it isn't exactly the cheapest. For the same price I can get an even better burger set elsewhere. But I'm glad that I tried though. 

There is nothing much I enjoy more than some good Hong Kong food. Unfortunately around KL its mostly just chinese food and although that's also just as good, sometimes I do prefer something more authentic HK food. My go-to place is Hong Kong Food Culture, especially when I'm doing some shopping around Sungai Wang Plaza which is just next door. A must order when I'm dining there is the Century & Salted Egg with Pork Porridge. I don't know how they do it but their rice porridge is always silky smooth and any grains of rice has been mushed up - so a bowl of this on a cold rainy day is incredibly comforting. Plus the century egg they add is always really fresh with almost runny & silky yolk which is to die for. Another favourite is their Pork Belly Braised with Preserved Vegetables. This is my number one order when I'm there because this dish brings me back to my grandmother's kitchen. Not only is the pork incredibly tender but so is the preserved vegetables, both absorbing the flavours of the broth that it has been stewing in for a long period of time.

Usually I do not eat much rice, but when I order this dish I almost always finish the entire plate of rice cause it's that good. However you might have to remind them several times to bring you more sauce cause there will be times where it will be slightly on the dry side. Plus the rice is only worth eating when it's fully doused in the sweet but salty sauce.

It's pretty obvious now that steam fish is one of my favourite chinese dish to order at a meal. However not many places can serve up good ones because not only does the fish has to be super fresh but the sauces that it's steamed in has to be good. And the one served at Fei Yee never disappoints. Their signature Steamed Fish with Ginger, Scallions and Garlic is AMAZING. The sauce has so much flavour and maybe even a hint of chinese wine makes this dish worth ordering in itself. Sometimes I think I have more of the sauce than I do the actual meat. It's even better when you request for extra fried shallots and garlic to add into the sauce. Their signatore wine & ginger steamed Lala is also really good. There is only one other place that can rival the one served here and that is only cause I grew up eating the one from somewhere else. But here, they do this dish justice because there's a really good punch of flavours in the sauce - it's almost the same as the fish except sweeter from the amount of wine. Then there's the steamed mince pork with salted fish. This brought back so many memories because my grandma made something similar for me as a kid and I loved it. Just having a nice plate of hot rice and this plus the sauce ladled over it brought back many nostalgic feelings.
