Although Ban Kee is known for their street-food style seafood, I also go there for their noodles. My family has been eating their food for years and we know for sure that the standards have not dropped in the slightest.

A favourite of my grandfather is the Loh Mee. The one served at Ban Kee is always super flavourful without being overly thick and goopy, plus there's a generous amount of fried pork lard. Add some black vinegar into your bowl of noodles and enjoy a super good loh mee.

What I absolutely enjoy eating here aside from the seafood option is the fried hokkien bee hoon. The thing is, I almost never like eating mee hoon because I find it tasteless and stringy. But the one that is cooked at Ban Kee is absolutely amazing and I can eat an entire plate just by myself.

There is plenty of wok hei that flavours the noodle very well. Also I personally like how dark the noodles are and the amount of dark soya sauce that is used gives a nice subtle hint of sweetness. When you're here, this dish is a MUST order.

As always whenever we dine at Ban Kee, a must order is the Signature Wine Steamed Lala. There's always a nice sweetness and kick from the chinese rice wine that they use. The clams are also very nice and plump proving that it is fresh. The added chillies also gives a very nice extra flavour to the already delicious sauce which I can drink as if it were soup.

My family have been a frequent customers of Ban Kee, even funnier to think that we have been following the chef & his family throughout the many years whenever he shifted his stall. A discovery made by my grandpa, this is a place that we always go to for a good hawker style seafood and hokkien noodles.

Something that have always been my favourite from this place is their fried oyster omelette.

Most times when I have this dish in KL, it is either overly starchy or too dry with scarce tiny little oysters.

However with Ban Kee this dish is exceptionally good because there's just the right amount of egg to starch, there's also a very good 'wok hei' flavour to this as with everything else that comes out of their kitchen. Plus the oysters that they give is never less than satisfactory and is nice & plump.

Something else that is always ordered is their Kam Heong 'Loh'. This isn't your typical order at seafood restaurants as it is a type of snail that makes you work to enjoy it's flesh. Much smaller than the more familiar escargot, these 'balitong' are more crunchy and chewy.

Ban Kee cooks this really well as the sauce is nice and flavoursome - plenty of spice to tingle your senses while you begin your execution of extracting the snails from its shell.

Then there is the signature Chinese Wine & Ginger Lala. Again, this is another thing that is a MUST order when we are dining here because the flavour of the sauce is always out of this world!

My family loves this dish to bits and will drink up the wine sauce as if it is soup itself. The clams that comes with this dish becomes almost like the supporting character even if they are nice and fresh. But it is the sauce that is heavy with wine and has a kick from the ginger, garlic and chilli that makes it amazing.

It is no wonder why this place is busy almost every single time that I am there to dine. Also do not expect five star quality service since it is run by the family and when things get busy, the staff are not the most friendliest. But if you can look past that, then be prepared for a very good chinese hawker style seafood dinner!

Comfort HK Food Smile Sep 07, 2015

No matter how many times I have eaten this dish before and regardless of all the other innovative dishes there are on the menu, the only thing I will ever order from Wong Kok is their Rice in Superior Herbal Soup.

Several times over I have been there with my friends and each time they would order something different to try different things. But not me, I always go straight to my bowl of comfort food and a nice cup of cold Yin Yong HK Tea.

There is nothing to hate about this bowl of goodness and everything to love about it. The soup has a very strong herb flavour and also mildly spicy from a little pepper. It's filled almost to the brim with soup which is poured over rice and some minced pork.

On a night where it's cold, this is really perfect. 100/100 score. :3

Business.  Smile Sep 03, 2015

This establishment has been around for a long while and I remember dining there even when I was a very small kid. It was also where I first had my taste of shark's fin soup before refusing to eat baby porridge anymore. So this place has a special place in my heart.

Restaurant Oversea is a well known place for chinese cuisine and also for their rather steep prices. However you receive what you pay for which makes the meal worth it even if it will burn a hole in your wallet for that month. So for a business lunch, they decided to bring a client to Oversea Restaurant at Jalan Imbi.

As always the first thing to order is their signature and very popular Char Siew.

I daresay that you will never ever find char siew as good as the ones you can find here. Each slice of pork belly is layered beautifully with fat and meat, then it's perfectly caramelized on the edges which is sweet and sticky from the sauce. When you put the meat in your mouth, it melts almost instantly which is magical on it's own.

Though I suggest that you savour each mouthful as a small plate can cost more than Rm50. Also I would advice that you pre-book this dish before venturing to the restaurant as they run out pretty fast despite it's steep price.

Another dish that is a favourite of mine is the Steamed Siakap with Sweet Soya Sauce. Although this can be found in many other chinese restaurant and some cook this dish pretty damn good, something Overseas Restaurant just does it better.

The fish was very fresh, so it's meat is nicely tender but chewy at the same time and the sauce is absolutely delicious. Worth ordering if you enjoy steam fish.

To offset the overly indulgent pork dish, we ordered a large plate of green vegetable. Honestly I do not know what this is called in english but it's almost like garlic chives but bigger in size. Also I think it's more fibrous which is good for your digestive system.

This dish is stir-fried simply with garlic and it was good. A little bit on the oily side as it always is when we order this dish, even in many other restaurants.

I understand why everyone would pay a lot of money to dine at Overseas restaurant. I've heard people complaining about the prices but yet still enjoy the food immensely. For special occasions, this is definitely the place to dine at if it is really good quality food that you are looking for.

I don't know why but I was strongly craving for some good comfort food. Actually I think I was just strongly craving for the super yummy food we can get at Sam's so we got dressed and drove all the way out to Damansara just to dine there. Thankfully it was rather empty on a weeknight or else we'd be waiting a while to get served and I was already starving by then.

My immediate order was the mutton curry with a side of toast. I am pretty sure the last time we dined there they offered some naan or pita bread, but this time they said that there isn't such thing. Weird but that didn't stop me from dipping my hot toast into the super thick & flavourful curry, then happily eat the tender and succulent mutton pieces. Its so so sooooo good especially on a cool night.

As always we have to order a serving of the grilled chicken leg. I've already raved about this in my previous review so I'm not going to talk too much about it. But this is absolutely positively delicious. Enough said.

That night we got something new to try which is the grilled lemon sole and it was pretty amazing. The fish was nicely grilled with good seasoning and the side vegetables was AMAZING! Cause they were stir-fried with lots of garlic and butter so it was super flavourful.

It's jsut awesome how the food at Sam's never disappoint. Plus the price is not too exurbent which means you won't have to worry about overspending and still receive good sized portions.
