This was my first visit to the Ming's Room which was highly recommended by my mother. Apparently she's had business meeting's there before and loved the food, so she brought my sister & I there for brunch that weekend. No surprise that it was filled with lots of people since it was the weekend.

My favourite was the char siew pao. The bun was super soft and fluffy plus nicely hot from being steamed for the right amount of time. Then the inside was super good as the pork was nice & juicy plus the sauce tasted just right. I loved it so much that we had to order another basket cause I wanted more.

And another favourite of that day was these pork ribs. Although it wasn't as good as the ones I could get at Jin Xuan, these were infinitely better than any we can get elsewhere. The meat was succulent and tender plus the sauce was nicely flavoured. I just wish it had more garlic & black beans to give it an extra ooomph.

Then we also got the steamed pork siu mai which was also really good. It was bigger in size than other regular places which is understandable considering that the prices here was also slightly higher. Though completely worth it!

We should have ordered more but we did not want to be overly greedy like always. Now I can't wait to be back just for the pao.

Clams! Smile Jan 27, 2016   (Related Review)

After bugging my friend to go try the food at Two Sons with me, she finally gave in. Only because I agreed to practice painting with her at the same time too. Whatever works for me as long as I get to eat my giant pot of clams stewed in super flavourful broth then I'm happy.

No surprise that my immediate order was the main sized serving of clams (400gms) for the price of Rm46. It also comes with free-flow of fries or garlic brioche. I'd advice against ordering the fries because the ones I got were so bad that I could barely finish the first basket that was brought to us. Plus garlic toast would absorb the sauce so much better.

We got chilli cream base which was heavenly and each clam was super plump. It tasted fresh plus soaked up the sauce really well.

Can't wait to go back for more to try out all the other kinds of sauce!

CRABS! Smile Jan 13, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

At this current point I feel like I'm going through a phase where all I want to have is seafood. It's probably not the best thing for my general health as it really spikes up the cholesterol, but in that moment I do not really mind. My current obsession happens to be seafood especially crabs cooked in different ways and also my favourite prawns.

THANK GOODNESS mom was in a good mood and wanted to treat her good friend to a birthday dinner. Of course I bugged her to bring me along which was no problem since that friend of hers adore me. Off to South Sea we went one evening and I was near exploding with joy because its my favourite place to get super good seafood.

We got the Wine steamed fresh tiger prawns. OMG THIS! IS! SO SO SOOOOO GOOD! Each prawn was super juicy and succulent, absorbing most of the tasty soup it was cooked in that also has very strong flavour from the crustacean. And the best way to tell if the prawns are fresh or not is by sucking out all the yummy guts from the head, which I had so many of and can proudly say that the prawns were just alive momentarily before being picked up from the tank to be cooked. SO SO SO YUMS.

Finally came the main star which is the crabs. We ordered two kinds, the first that arrived was the black pepper flavour and omg it smelled amazing. There was more than just the spiciness off the black pepper but also some curry leaves and secret ingredients. The spicy kick of the 'sauce' and wok-hei really enhances the flavours of the sweet & juicy crab meat.

Even though that was good, my ultimate favourite was the Butter Crab. The sauce was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing and there was a generous amount of it, coating each pieces of the crab and seeped into each nook & cranny there is. Plus there's plenty more at the bottom of the plate for you to spoon over your crab. Or like me, slurp it up by the spoonfuls.

CANT WAIT TO GO BACK. I'm literally salivating at the memory of this. ;-;

Gyuniku Don Smile Jan 12, 2016

I had to restock my kitchen with food again and the only place I can get most of the Japanese ingredients I need is found at Isetan, KLCC. Plus I do enjoy casually strolling through the isles looking at all the different & unique things that are sold there. Often times when I'm done with paying for my food it would be either around lunch or dinner time, which leads me to Senya.

There you can find your usual Japanese food fix and are quite famous for their bowls of udons & ramen. However I am always there for their rice bowls which are often times already prepared and laid out at the front for people to buy as takeaway meals. If you do choose to dine there the staff would reheat it for you if that's what you like.

MY FAVOURITE! The Beef Don set which comes with a side salad, agedashi tofu and miso soup. It also comes with green tea, can't remember if this is refillable or not. All of this only costs me Rm25 and the portion is actually bigger than I had initially expected.

The beef don is supr good as each meat is succulently juicy plus the sweet sauce that is poured over it coats the rice nicely. I usually only am able to finish half of this and takeaway the other for my breakfast or something. See, two meal with one purchase haha.
The sides are also pretty good, especially the miso soup. I can just slurp up the whole bowl easily as it is so full flavoured from i dont know what + miso. Heavenly.

Really enjoy it whenever I dine at Senya and would happily be back for more.

More thai Smile Jan 06, 2016

They always say that no one knows you more than your own parent. Which was why my mom brought me to Busaba for lunch with a friend of hers because she knows how much I love having Thai food. And she's given super great reviews of this place, plus after dining there a month or two ago, I can't stop thinking about the food there. So she brought me back there for lunch as a treat again.

A mandatory order whenever we could is the Meng Kiam starters. Usually you would have to wrap the little bits of food in the leaves ourselves, but not here. At Busaba, each portions are individually wrapped for you. So all that we had to do was add the bean paste sauce as much as you like then eat it all in one bite. This is simple but really good.

Then again, based on good reviews by the mom, she also ordered these Thai fish cakes. I usually turn away from these whenever I see them because they are never something I like to eat. However I took one piece and found them really good, flavourful plus bouncy and chewy rather than soft. I liked this but would not immediately order it as a first choice.

Another thing that we like to order is Mango Salad. No where I have dined at ever make such good mango salad like Busaba does because they are very generous with all the crunchy toppings and there's super good spice & tangyness. Then as an added bonus for me, it also comes with this giant prawn's head which I always take the liberty to slurp up all the goodness from it. Yummy with a capital Y.

AND MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE OF THE DAY! The squid steamed with garlic, chillies and garlic sauce. Although the squid was really good and crunchy, I also really loved the soup that it was swimming in. I kept going back for more and more, even after my mouth was burning from the heat.

Although the price tag on the food is rather high, the quality of food that we get is very much worth it. Sometimes it is worth to splurge and treat ourselves to a good meal every now and then.
