Although I love eating vegetables, all kinds of it and am happy just having those. But then there are days where I am an absolute carnivore when all I want to eat is just meat & meat only. Sometimes its worth traveling way out of my way just to get something good to eat.

Mother brought us all the way to Puchong to try out some BKT. Apparently she was brought there by a client and really liked the food, even if it is way out of our way. Plus going there in the afternoon is kind of crazy since it's super hot and when drinking soup, it's just going to make you sweat even more.

An order we go that had me going slightly crazy was the paper wrapped herbal chicken. Although the size of it was small, the super soft & tender meat that has absorbed all the flavour of the sauce just makes it easy to overlook that. I really liked coating my rice with the thick and heavily flavoured sauce, eating all the goji berry at the same time. The onyl thing is I wish there was more of the sauce rather than the scarce amount that we got.

And of course we had to get an order of BKT plus some braised pork too. The one here was pretty good because the soup had a strong flavour of herbs which was just to our liking, plus each spoonful of scalding hot BKT soup was worth it despite the heat.

I'd definitely drive up to Ah Soon just to have my fix of meat & BKT. :3

Crab explosion. Smile Jan 06, 2016

After seeing a picture of chilli crab on our mutual friend's Facebook timeline, my friend & I were dying to have some too. So what other place to go to that is nearby us other than Mei Keng Fatt and also because that's where we saw the picture too.

Funnily enough I have not dined there for years ever since their prices has gone rather high and is now meant more for tourists rather than locals. However I can't deny that their food is pretty good if not for the price tag that is attached to each dish that's enough to make you sweat a little.

Still, a craving is often times stronger than any form of logic so we ventured there anyway. Anything for good food especially when it's all we can think of.

Of course we had to order the chilli crab and mantaos, half fried and half are steamed. We most definitely preferred the deep fried ones because they are crisp on the outside but super soft on the inside, absorbing the sauce super well. As for the crabs they are quite big and the meat was very fresh.

We also ordered another plate of salted egg yolk crab. The man that took our order said he would give us an offer of Rm50 only as opposed to the original price and we were sure glad to have taken it. Honestly I much preferred this in comparison the the chilli crab, only because this was like an overdose of salted egg yolk. Plus the meat was super sweet because the crab is fresh.

Although the price is higher than what you would regularly pay for at other seafood places, its worth trying.

More thai Smile Jan 06, 2016

They always say that no one knows you more than your own parent. Which was why my mom brought me to Busaba for lunch with a friend of hers because she knows how much I love having Thai food. And she's given super great reviews of this place, plus after dining there a month or two ago, I can't stop thinking about the food there. So she brought me back there for lunch as a treat again.

A mandatory order whenever we could is the Meng Kiam starters. Usually you would have to wrap the little bits of food in the leaves ourselves, but not here. At Busaba, each portions are individually wrapped for you. So all that we had to do was add the bean paste sauce as much as you like then eat it all in one bite. This is simple but really good.

Then again, based on good reviews by the mom, she also ordered these Thai fish cakes. I usually turn away from these whenever I see them because they are never something I like to eat. However I took one piece and found them really good, flavourful plus bouncy and chewy rather than soft. I liked this but would not immediately order it as a first choice.

Another thing that we like to order is Mango Salad. No where I have dined at ever make such good mango salad like Busaba does because they are very generous with all the crunchy toppings and there's super good spice & tangyness. Then as an added bonus for me, it also comes with this giant prawn's head which I always take the liberty to slurp up all the goodness from it. Yummy with a capital Y.

AND MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE OF THE DAY! The squid steamed with garlic, chillies and garlic sauce. Although the squid was really good and crunchy, I also really loved the soup that it was swimming in. I kept going back for more and more, even after my mouth was burning from the heat.

Although the price tag on the food is rather high, the quality of food that we get is very much worth it. Sometimes it is worth to splurge and treat ourselves to a good meal every now and then.

Rice Bowls Smile Jan 06, 2016   (Related Review)

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen/Udon/Soba

That day at lunch with my friend at Jaya One, she ordered the Katsudon which is just fried chicken fillet over rice with a soft boiled egg. I quite like her order over my beef one because the meat was nicely flavoured from the batter and also perfectly crisp.

So over a bed of hot rice with a perfectly poached egg which you would break then let the yolk coat each grain. Then for added flavours we also added a little bit of soya sauce and also the dried chilli oil that was provided.

The portion at the price of Rm11 is pretty substantial. Plus if this isn't enough for you then you have additional sides as an add-on for no more than a couple of ringgits, so that would most definitely make your meal more filling.

Can't wait to be back for a good hearty meal and also a good chat with my best friend. smile

Local delights  Smile Jan 05, 2016

Have I mentioned how much I enjoy eating at Sam's? Especially when I am in the mood for something casual yet want pretty good food - which is why my mom brought me there for dinner one night. Although it was a weeknight and we had just gotten home from work, we still dragged ourselves out of the house and drove to Damansara Heights just for food.

Our usual order is western and would most definitely get the really good grilled chicken, but that night we were quite into the local food. Plus apparently she's tried them and found that to be exceptionally worth trying which was what we got.

My favourite of the night happens to be the mutton curry which was specially ordered for me. It came in a claypot filled to the brim with super thick and spicy curry, then in it was plenty pieces of meat and also chunks of potatoes. This comes with your choice of either rice or naan, which I obviously would choose the later. Nothing like some soft & fluffy naan to soak up all the delicious curry.

Because it's my mother's favourite, she also ordered a sambal prawn and I could undersyand why. The prawns were super fresh and they were not stingy at all with the amount we were given. Plus the sambal really made me tear because it was hella spicy but in a good way, so eating this with some rice is ideal.

Now I'm already thinking of the food and can't wait to be back for more.
