Blue Reef Fish & Chips has been well known for its signature Fish & Chips and this time we found out their chicken dishes were impressing too. I can say that they really serve good western foods and Blue Reef has became one of the my favourite western cuisine restaurant.

This was the best chicken cordon bleu i have ever tasted. For me, the portion served was quite big. Though  it was deep fried, the chicken cordon bleu was tender and rolled with a generous portion of ham and cheese. So you won't miss any of it for every bites. It was so satisfying!

Another highly recommended carbonara pasta! The linguine was perfectly cooked to al-dente texture and completed with creamy carbonara sauce. Their carbonara sauce was creamy and delicious but not “jelat”. The smoked salmon trimmings were beautifully packed with flavours and the texture was good.

This restaurant is highly recommended and worth for the price. Their foods will definitely make you to visit again.

Little Italy, Kota Kinabalu Smile Aug 17, 2015

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta

Little Italy can be easily spotted in the town area of Kota Kinabalu. It is located below the Capital Hotel and it is just within walking distances from Suria Sabah.

A refreshing drink that everyone will love. The lemonade is sweet and sour and one of the best option to have when you are going to have fullfilling, chessy pastas and pizza later.

They were freshly baked sandwich with saunteed mushrooms, marinated chicken, artichokes, lettuce and emmenthal cheese. The savoury ingredients were seasoned to perfection and filled between the crispy sandwich breads. For every set of triangle sandwich, the fillings served were more than enough, completed with the cheese and cream cheese spreaded on the bread. But, this was not too cheesy and you may go for this if you want to have something lighter than pizza.

For their homemade pastas, we chose Ravioli with Spinacci & Ricotta Cheese. Ravioli is a type of dumpling with a filling sealed between two layers of thin pasta dough. Never miss this if you are a chesse lover! You will definitely love it when every mouthful of pasta come with cheese melted inside the mouth. haha.

We opted Fettucine with Chilli and we were recommended to go with Marinara source (topped with prawns, squids, clams and New Zealand mussels with white wine of tomato sauce.). Yup, they matched so well and the seafoods were fresh. The home made pastas were cooked to a perfect al -dente texture and every bites came with a little bit of spiciness which makes the whole dish more tastier. The spiciness of the pastas and the sweetness of the tomato sauce were not overpowering on each other. Yummy!

Frank Laurent Coffee Roasters Smile Aug 17, 2015

Categories : Western variety | Café

I believe that more people are getting to know more about this small cozy cafe as Udini Square has launched its grand opening on 8 August 2015. They have limited seats and the place with simple setting is getting more popular as their limited seats are always occupied whenever I passed by. Having a big glass window facing Lebuh Tunku Kudin which allows the natural sunlight to flood in and the ambience was just so relaxing and comfortable, it is definitely one of the good place to spend an afternoon with friends for a relaxing chat or visiting alone to have some personal quiet time over there.

They offer a wide range of freshly roasted coffee, teas, chocolates, cakes and waffles. We only had their coffee when we visited to this small cozy cafe. Their coffee are well priced but the desserts such as cakes and waffles are slightly higher. But, i think the cakes and waffles are seemingly worth to give them a try. They are definitely in my list for my next visit.

Not being a coffee lover, i still find their coffee were enjoyable. They were worth for trying. And if you are a coffee lover, you should visit the cafe and find out your favourite.

We went purposely to try out their economic set meals and the overall was good! Wallet friendly and affordable prices for it doesn't need you to spend a lot to have scrumptious "chu char". Four seasons tea house has another branch in Sunway Tunas. They serve "chu char", fried rice and fried noodles in ala carte as well.

There are two types of economic set meals that are only available during weekdays. The economic set meals (RM 30) serve 3 persons with one soup of the day, one tofu dish, one vegetable dish and one chicken dish. The only difference for another economic set meal (RM 36) is that you can substitute chicken dish with pork dish. Customers are allowed to choose different cooking styles for every type of dishes from the selected menu.

We didn't expect the portions served would be big but surprisingly the portions served for every dishes were big and I think it was more than enough to serve 3 persons.

Soup of the day which consisted potatoes, white radishes and carrots in flavorful broth.

We opted the basic one, stir fried hun chu heok with garlic. You can choose your vegetables and your favourite cooking styles such as sambal, oyster sauce, stir fried with garlic, etc. Then they will serve you the combination that you want.

The chickens were beautifully deep fried to crispy texture but not oily. The mango chicken was served over sour plum sauce, topped with mango and onions salads. The sauce gave extra flavour of sweet and sour to the chicken. It was tasted good and appetizing.

This tofu dish was delicious too. Crispy crust outside but soft texture inside. It tasted quite similar to the deep fried starter we usually have in combination platters when we attend any wedding dinner serving chinese cuisine.

First time having the sesame soybean. Not too sweet and it had a strong fragrance of sesame which blended quite well with soya bean. Nice try.
Supplementary Information:
They charge on 10% of service charge and 6% of GST.

Khunthai Thai Food - Teluk Kumbar Smile Aug 18, 2015

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

Khunthai, located by the beachside at Teluk Kumbar has been one of the favourite Thai Cuisine restaurant that many people would go in Penang. You don't have to pay a lot but you could enjoy the sea view from the restaurant while having your meal.

For a big fans of Thai Cuisine like me, this tomyam soup was okay but not the best tomyam soup i have. The tomyam soup was quite rich in flavour and the spiciness was acceptable but maybe others might find it a litte bit spicy.

The stir fried kangkung with belacan was quite okay but I would personally prefer the fried kangkung rather than stir fried kangkung for a thai cuisine.

I love this dish a lot. The sourish sauce was very appetizing and matched vey well with the glass noodles and the squids. I think their kerabu appetizers would never be dissappointing.

This was my first try to have their prawn cake with salted egg yolk. This looked quite appealing but somehow the taste was not up to my expectation. The salted egg yolk was served in a generous portion for every pieces. The outer crust was crispy but quite bland in taste for the overall. Dipping it with sauce would be better.
