Dissapointed food! Cry Oct 25, 2015

Categories : Indian | Stall / Warung

Steven Corner use to be a night hot spot back to year 2000. Yes, is not only hot but super hot. Who does not know where is Steven Corner?! The indian male boss with thick gold chain on his neck, lolx. I was the super fan too those days. Anyway, I cant remember when was my last visit though. After reading the Top 10 Cheese Naan from Openrice and Steven Corner is one of it therefore I suddenly have the urge to come here.
I reached around 8pm and the restaurant is rather quite about 20% occupancy. After placing the order, just look around the surrounding. It has changed a lots from last time. Renovated and expansion for the entire restaurant. Looks clean and neater now.
As usual, beverage will be served first. My favourite Teh Tarik, the sweetness is just right.

Teh O Ice Limau- the sweetness is just right too.

Next, Maggie Mee Goreng with fried egg. This is bad, the noodle was overcooked and it is too soggy. Texture wise is not good either, it has lots residue in the noodle, every bite has lots of chilli seed, chilli flakes and others as well. Is not good to eat.

Roti Tissue- is served cold therefore it is very soggy. Not much of taste also as the sweetness and buttery were not there too.

Lastly is the Cheese Naan RM6.50, this is good. The naan is soft, you can taste the cheese in every bite. Im loving it.

In conclusion, please do not order the Maggie Goreng and Roti Tissue especially the noodle, it was very awful. You can get it anywhere of the mamak which cook very much better than here. In short, Cheese naan is highly recommended here. Good luck!

Hong Kong not so Hong Kong food Cry Aug 03, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles | Porridge

I dare to say I have tried all the foods in The Scott Garden except this. Just newly opened somewhere in May 2015. This is a took over unit from 億品粥 Oriental Porridge & Hotpot. I was there for lunch, after browsing through the menu, only 4 choices of set lunch are available. Therefore, I decided to order from ala carte menu. For your information, the waiteress will pass you the iPad to view the food pictures. From the pictures itself, the Char Siew rice looks appealing to me yet is labelled as Chef Recommended. Ok, deal.
15mins has past, all the foods are served. Char Siew rice (RM12.90) and Herbal drink for myself; My friend has ordered a set meal (RM23.90) which consist of rice, steam mince pork with perserve, vegetable with osyter sauce and herbal soup.

First, I want to comment about the Char Siew. This is not the roasted type of Char Siew but it could be they braised type and it comes with sweet soy sauce. Taste wise is just average maybe I'm expecting roasted cripsy Char Siew instead.

It is steamed rice. Slightly a bit hard but it still acceptable.

I have tried  small piece of the minced meat, nothing special, I dislike the texture of the mince meat because it is a bit hard and compact. My friend comment also the same with me- nothing special. Verdict, if you were to ask me whether is there any possibilty of second visit. The anwer is no. Reason being, taste, price, ambience or service wise are average, I would have many more choices with that kind of pricing.

Very dissappointed! Cry Jul 13, 2015

I wanted to try this lamb chop for quite sometime. Because Cao Cao Grilled Lamb appeared in those F&B TV program such as Ah Xian, Ho Chiak and even in Magazine quite constantly. As such, I have high expectation on it.
Cao Cao Grilled Lamb is located at end of Jalan Kuchai Lama front of the shop houses. To be exact, is a mini food street like Jalan Alor. You can find variety of foods there such as Wonton Mee, Chu Cheong Fun, Asam Laksa, Popiah, Shanghai Prawn Noodle, Porridge, Bao etc also 2 Malay stall selling Nasi Lemak and Satay.
I reached around 7pm and most of the tables were occupied. Luckily I managed to get one empty table for myself. Without delay, I quickly order a lamb chop as the appetizer and I was surprise that the Cao Cao Grilled Lamb is managed by foreign workers from ordering, preparing food to serving food. The chinese male boss was not present. (The chinese boss is always appeared in TV show). I saw one chinese lady (I presume) grilling the lamb chop on the fire rack.
After, I proceed to order Chu Cheong Fun and Satay. 10mins later, all the foods are served.

Satay are makeup of beef and chicken. However, I only tried the chicken satay. I would saiy the satay is yummy and flavourful yet tender served with the peanut sauce.

Okay, here comes the STAR of today's dinner. This Grill Lamb served together with Mint Sauce and Chili Sauce. The first bite was cold, to my surprise. How come?! I did not wait a second upon serving to pop it in my mouth. The meat is tender however it is tasteless. Thought lamb chop has to be marinated before hand. To be fair, to those who dislike smell of mutton, this suit you the best because you can't taste any single taste of it. To me, this is consider very bad. If you want me to compare, you can get a piece of flavourful, well-marinated lamb chop easily at any AEON retail supermarket, roast it in the oven for 20mins. The taste is much much much better than this.

In the nutshell, it is very dissapointed. dislike

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hotpot

I have visited one of the famous food blog recently and came to know this restaurant was newly opened in my area. Therefore, I have decided to pay a visit since the review was shown positive. This restaurant is owned by the famous steamboat owner-Coco Steamboat which operate at night whereby they are selling Dim Sum during day time.

Is a Sunday morning, the restaurant seems quite. To my surprise, is only 3 tables occupied. I have ordered few foods which highlighted in the blog.
First, Wanton Mee (RM7.90). Presentation is good. However, I dislike the noodle texture, to me it was too thin and it lost the mouth feel of it. The noodle sauce is on sweet side. If you like the sweet sauce then you will like this.

Siew Mai (RM6.50), came in 4 pices in one basket. The first bite of the Siew Mai was no good. It was very hard. Oh my god! Im thinking whether this is the overnight food or this is over-steam it. Taste is not any better.

Fried Radish Cake (RM5.90), this is quite normal. Nothing to highlight about.

Char Siew Bao (RM6.50), 3 pieces in a basket. Overall was just okay.

Overall foods were just normal, but please do not put high expectation if you wish to visit them.

Yut Kee is a very old restaurant which famous for their Hananese Chicken Chop. I got to know this for very long time. Therefore, I have arranged my time to pay a visit here. Yes, I came for breakfast and expected the crowd is there. Their service no doubt is fast, we managed to get a table without need to wait for long.

Of course, I am here today to try their Hainanese Chicken Chop. The service is really impressive and my foods were came in swift. The chicken chop was debone, deep fried with egg batter, cover with light brown thick sauce. Something puzzle me was the gravy was taste like brown sauce instead of tomato sauce because this is Hananese style of cooking. Anyway, the chicken chop was tender and flavour. It came with side dishes potato chunk and mixed vegetable.

French Toast was one of the signature here. Thick toast spread with peanut butter jam, coated with egg wash and deep fried to golden brown colour. It came with kaya at a side. The French Toast was just alright with me. I personally feel that the dish was a bit oily. Moreover, the kaya was just too lumpy without much Kaya fragrant.

Verdict, the overall foods were acceptable. To me, one visit is more than enough. The service here is a plus point as the foods were served fast. Other than that, is nothing for me to shout about.
