Discover The Essense Of Ghanaian Cuisine At Nook

1st April to 30th April 2017

This coming April , Aloft KL Sentral brings the flavours and aromas of the Ghanaian cuisine to Malaysia with a special feature , Taste of Ghana , on the buffet spread at Nook , the hotel's all day dining restaurant .

 
Presented by Aloft's Executive Chef , Phoebe Donko Hanson , a Ghanaian national , diners can be certain to experience authentic flavours reminiscent of her culture through signature dishes from her homeland which includes a selection of her favourite dishes and dishes that best represent the country's cuisine available at the buffet on a rotational basis .

 
A cuisine that is hard to come by in Malaysia , the taste of Ghana buffet will be available at Nook from 1st - 30th April 2017 at RM120 nett per person for dinner which starts from 6.30PM to 10.30PM daily . Serving both local and international cuisines on its buffet spreads Nook's menu focuses on diversity as it offers innovative dishes together with familiar tastes .

 
Nooks takes dining in Kuala Lumpur to a different dimension . The futuristic white pods in the restaurant are designed replicating first class pods in a jet . The green and white setting in the venue has floor to ceiling windows , overlooking the KL Sentral area . The 144 Seat restaurant offers a private room for a party up to 25 at no additional charge , making ir perfect for family celebrations or business gatherings .

 

 

 

 
A Selection of meat highlights includes the Spicy Grilled Snapper , Ginger Roasted Chicken , Braised Lamb Shank and Roast Beef .

 

 

 

 
The cuisine also has its own specialty curries with the Spicy Shrimp Curry , Mutton Curry and Tomato Egg Curry , offered on the buffet line for curry lovers to indulge in .

 

 

 

 
Also available is a dish called Kelewele , a gingery peppered plantain dish and Chichinga , a Ghanaian version of kebabs . To enhance the flavour of each dish , a wide variety of exciting sauces are available .

 

 

 

 
A must try is Shitor , an authentic chilli paste made with sauteed prawns . Others condiments include Green Pepper sauce , Red Pepper Sauce Seasoned Fried Chilli oil , Tomato Wedges and Sliced Shallots . There will be no shortage of snacks either as there will be Fried Peanuts , Taro Chips and Yam Chips for everyone to taste and enjoy .

Semenyih Famous Pan Mee is a place for Pan mee lover to enjoy place , Pan mee 板麺 is a Hakka-style noodle , originating from Malaysia . Its Chinese name literally translates to "flat flour noodle". It is part of Malaysian Chinese cuisine . The dough is made from flour . Traditionally, the dough is hand-kneaded and torn into smaller pieces of dough . Nowadays , the dough can be kneaded using machine into a variety of shapes , the most common shape being flat strips of noodle .

 

 
finding the shop is abit tricky especially if you don’t read Chinese. The shop is located above Summer Ocean Unisex saloon , spot out for the yellow banner infront of the staircase entrance .

 

 

 
The pan mee dough is made fresh and kneaded using machine into a variety of shapes by an uncle sitting there and doing it bowl by bowl . The shop is manage by aunties and uncles that sounds like homemade taste , The shop looks like a shophouse with rooms . Plastic tables & chairs set up in rooms and the hall , chairs line up to customer for take away .

Pan mee noodle and Pitch Pan mee soup , Big bowl RM 5.50 & small bowl RM 5 . The portion fullfit as traditional Pan mee with dried anchovies , minced pork , slice mushrooms and a leafy vegetable such as sweet potato leaves . The soup plays a very important role in the preparation of pan mee. Typically, the soup is prepared by boiling pig bones and dried anchovies for hours in order to bring out the flavor .

The Decoration of wooden fulfill almost the whole atmosphere and also all the wooden tables and chairs in every section . The cozy Environment makes me so comfortable while dining .

Tenzaru Inaniwa Udon

The process of making Inaniwa Udon takes about four days as it is all done manually. After kneading the dough by hand, it is wrapped around two rods, flattened, then stretched and finally air dried. Nurungji Modeum (Assorted Grilled Chicken with Scorched Rice) - RM 75 Nurungji Tong Dak refers to a traditional Korean food made of scorched rice with roasted chicken. Further more it consist primeraly of a whole chicken filled with glutionous rice, black rice, pumpkin seed, barley, garlic, ginseng, jujube, ginkgo nut and pine nut. Its cooked in the fire oven for at least one and a half hours to make the chicken oil to become balanced.

After all, it will be taken out and cut the chiken in half along its belly in order to cook the rice well on the pan. The reason why this process is important is that a crust of scorched rice will be left in the bottom of the cooking pot and it is called "Nurungji " in Korea. Finally after the rice is done, it will be served to the customer with variety toppings and sauce .

Waiter arranged half the vegetables into the pot along with all the meat on top , then they proceeded to paint every piece of food with sauce to ensure even coverage and the lid goes on for 15-20 minutes while everything cooks . After that the waiters came back to the table and double checked for the doneness of the meat by opening up the lid and close it back on .

Same as the Seafood Pot , Waiter put the vegetables half of the pot along with the pork belly , Black Fungus and Oyster Mushroom on top , then they proceeded to paint every piece of food with sauce to ensure even coverage and the lid goes on for 20 minutes while everything cooks . After that the waiters came back to the table and double checked for the doneness of the meat by opening up the lid .
