Burps & Giggles , Ipoh Smile Oct 19, 2015

Categories : Western variety | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches | Sweets/Snack

Burps & Giggles is the hottest cafe to hang out in Ipoh in these few years . Three lots of heritage building links together make a huge space for food and coffee lovers .

A huge part of Burps and Giggles was DIY decoration and some bohemian art feel . DIY stuff like the lamps and furniture , as well as planting a few trees in the space to look more nature .

They came up with the design that looks something rustic , such as recycling old goods , reusing and revamping them . A large wall mural livens up the space and disparate cushions decorate the mismatched .

Inventive design of interior is matched with an equally creative menu and Suiting the name of the cafe, Burps and Giggles in Ipoh has indeed lived up to expectation to give its customers a pleasant place to dine out and meet up . Burps & Giggles will be on top of the list because it is A place that shouldn’t be missed .

Sometimes I love to see the lovely coffee foam art . this latte was awesome , proven by its over-bitterness .

Parking might be quite limited but if you don't mind a little walking, you can park a little further and walk to the cafe .

Pak Kong Chicken Rice , Ipoh Smile Oct 16, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

There are alot famous chicken rice in Ipoh . when you name it everyone know about it but Pak Kong Chicken Rice not really known by visitor from outstation , most of the local knows Pak Kong sells one of the best chicken rice in ipoh town too .

Pak Kong Chicken Rice is located in the area that visited by visitor and locals all the time at Jalan theater . The hotspot for bean sprouts in ipoh , the chicken which is smooth texture of the meat With A plate of "fat"bean sprouts that grown from the hills in Ipoh .

If you planning for a vacation to Ipoh , here’s a handy compilation of some one the best bean sprout chicken . Sometimes you may have to wait for more than 30 minutes or an hour for your food to be served . We were lucky that day as there were less customers when we arrived and we found our seats immediately .

There is always a long queue for takeaways but never get intimated by it because they are pretty efficient . The lady boss will come and take orders and she is friendly . Backed by a sturdy Hainanese origin , the conventional chicken rice stall will feature a seller continuously chopping away at the selection of poached and roasted chicken , some also include fancier varieties like sesame chicken into the mix .

The chicken is served on top of rice which is usually cooked with the chicken fats collected from the waste with few slices of fresh cucumber and a bowl of soup on the side . don’t forget the garlic chilli sauce too . they sell other roasted meats like char siew (BBQ caramelised pork) , siew yoke (crispy roasted pork), roast duck , and more . Pak Kong only opens for lunch daily from 11a.m to 2.30pm .

Nasi Kandar Yong Suan , Ipoh Smile Oct 10, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indian | Kopitiam

Clock Pointed at 11p.m and getting out from my kampung straight heading to Kedai Kopi Yong Suan for lunch with my little brother , I heard this nasi "Ganja " quite a while ago and finally I get to eat it .

The city’s famous nasi kandar stall at the Yong Suan Coffeeshop in Jalan Yang Kalsom , Introducing the famous and Original Nasi Kandar Ayam Merah or better known as Nasi Ganja by locals .

This little Indian Muslim stall located inside Kedai Kopi Yong Suan and been in business since 1956 , 55 years of nice foods , It is also known as Nasi Vanggey as the stall owners used to welcome their customers in by shouting out loud “vanggey! vanggey! vanggey!” means "come in , welcome" , long queues are is common at here during peak hours (Lunch time).

Displayed at the stall are huge variety of curries, fried dishes and vegetables . Pick what I wanted and feast on it while the other staff will write the bill and put on the table . The very basic items you get are some sliced cucumbers and a spoon of special chillie paste .

The coffee shop is packed with regular and new customer like me during peak hours and getting a place is close to impossible but mostly will share tables and enjoy together . But as they said, it’s worth to wait for something that’s tastes good . it exhibited the old rustic charm of olden days with its unintentional decors, tiled floors and walls .

I choice nasi kandar ayam merah and my lil brother get nasi kandar mutton , they gave alot of mutton and size in large cube size . A plate like above will cost around RM6 , The rice was flood with curries comes along the aroma and flavour while the special curry paste gave the extra aroma to the delicious meal .

With the opening of Nam Heong Food Court at Soho Complex, popular hawker food stalls are gathered under one roof, including Stadium Stall 18 Fried Koay Teow, “Pak Kong” (White House) Chicken Rice, K10 Fish Ball Noodles, Facey Noodle House and of course the famous dim sum and white coffee from Nam Heong itself.

Nam Heong Food Court elevates the experience by housing the ‘hawker food’ stalls on the ground level, and included an escalator to bring guests up to the first floor where the area can easilyAll the food stalls are located at the ground floor, and there’s no need to walk among them, choosing the item of your desire and order everything from the tablet equipped on every table.

For every table for 2, there is a tablet attached and screwed to the table. The touch screen was responsive, very good tactile feedback and bright enough with detailed shots of the food in crisp display.

With the flaky pastry shells, the egg tart looks like it would fall apart any time. Handle with care, it exclaimed. I was expecting a somehow gooey smooth and silky egg custard but it falls short of my expectation.

Kedai Makanan Rasa Lain ( 味不同海鲜坊) Is one of the most famous seafood restaurant in Bercham, Ipoh, well known for their crabs in claypot. It can be served in either rice or glass vermicelli noddles .

The soup was awesomely juicy and the crab meat was fresh.

the glass noodles was cook to perfection.

Their most recommended dish was the Crab Tanghoon (东粉蟹) at RM38 for a portion of Two,Even the size of the crabs used seems to be larger than usual.

For people who are not keen on glass noodles, the other popular dish is Claypot Rice With Crabs.

springy texture, with some fillings, these balls are rather filling on their own.

Good thing they did not relent and allowed.

The fish balls, which are slightly bigger than usual, are sold at a rather pricey RM1 each.

But that has not kept away fans who love their taste.

The History

The owners of Kedai Makanan Rasa Lain, famed for their signature Claypot Glass Noodles With Crabs (tung fun hai) and Claypot Cheese Prawns, are planning to open their first branch in Kuala Lumpur in August.

Wong, who is also the cook, believes it is high time for them to expand the business which has been so popular that even Hong Kong celebrities such as Eric Tsang have given the dishes the thumbs up.

Food bloggers and reviewers have given the place and food good ratings as well.

And word has it that the wife of a top politician also once came with a group of friends and “ta pau” dozens of sai tou (ikan parang) fish balls to bring back to Kuala Lumpur.
