a good Italian meal... OK Aug 08, 2014

La Risata has been around for quite awhile offering good Italian dishes. The overall deco of this place is casual & warm. Great for group gatherings or even a romantic night out. As you walk in you get the appetising aromas of wood fired pizzas. Only downside would be the parking which can be a pain.
When it comes to the food I have tried quite a few dishes so far. Starting the meal with the complimentary olive tapenade with freshly baked fluffy bread which is so addictive. Yummy appetisers would be the Antipasti Misti (grilled mushroom, fried calamari rings, beef carpaccio, garlic crostini w/ chicken liver pate) & Gnocchi Al Gameberi. For mains try the Pappardelle Al Ragu D’Agnello, Gnocchi Al Peperonchini Grillia E Chorizo & Ravioli di Frutti di Mare. Or if you have a hankering for steak their Grilled US Angus grain fed tenderloin is pretty decent.
However avoid the Risotto Nero Di Seppia which was too wet for my liking & the Spaghetti Alla Risata which was just too salty. Unfortunately have not tried any desserts. Am always too full after the mains. Heard the panna cotta & Sicilian Bombe are good. As for drinks they have interesting cocktails, a decent sangria & a good wine list. Their coffee is not bad as well to cap the night.
Service is a hit & a miss. When busy it would be hard to get the waiters attention & food might arrive late. However on normal occasions they are okay. Nothing that would stop you from frequenting this place.

one of my favourite haunts... Smile Aug 08, 2014

TDH has been around for awhile now & is still as good as when they opened. It shows as it is almost always crowded. They are famous for their weekend brunch (10am to 2pm) which serves a variety of dishes like the big breakfast, steak & eggs, corned beef frittatas & pancakes. All with free flow of coffee, tea and juice. Have tried them all & they are yummeh. Best part you can also have them with a pint of cider or stout. ;)
Apart from brunch their regular menu is also worth a try. From bar snacks (nachos, chicken skin crackers, luncheon meat chips, etc) to lunch & dinner items (burgers, bangers & mash, pork knuckle, etc). They are all yummy served in decent size portions with quality ingredients.
Service is a hit & miss. Occasionally they are rather slow or not attentive enough. However nothing that will deter you from returning. This could be due to the laid back atmosphere they promote. Being a typical bar the layout is casual with high & low wooden tables and chairs, classic black & white flooring, bare concrete & dim lighting. It is also pet friendly which is a plus.
Highly recommended for all. Great for a meal or just to waste your day away with mates or a loved one sipping on some beers, cocktails or wine.

This lil' nook at Happy Mansion, Section 17 is a pretty decent find. Their claim to fame would be the coffee & pastries. Tried the mocha & cappuccino so far and both were pretty good. When it comes to the food I have tried their quiche, tarts, cakes, danish & croissant. All of them were good especially the mushroom & ham quiche and rhubarb tart.
The place itself is rather small but comfy. Can get crowded however during off hours its nice to sit outside & while away the time. Service is friendly & quick.

Quar/Tet is this quaint little place located in the suburbs of TTDI. Great place to hangout especially on lazy weekends. Hipster like environment with good music. Service is friendly & quick. Decor is simple & comfortable. Very inviting.
Food options depend on when you arrive. Their dinner menu is only out after 6pm if not mistaken but its best to head here during brunch or tea. Lovely selection of brunch items like french toast, eggs benedict, bagels, big breakfast, salads & pastries. We had the french toast & salmon cream cheese bagel. Both very yummy & fresh. Big portions with decent prices. Drinks wise they have either coffee, tea, juice or milkshakes. The coffee is average however heard the milkshakes are rich & yummy. Got to return to try that out.

good fried chicken... OK Aug 08, 2014

Always end up here for a meal after a night out. They have some of the tastiest fried chicken around. At times I would have 2 portions. They also serve good roti canai. If you want something heavier their maggi goreng & fried nice are good too.
They are open 24 by 7 so everything is available whenever you have the hankering for it. It is rather stuffy and messy which is typical of this sorta place. Service is pretty quick.
