best chicken rice balls around... Smile Aug 09, 2014

This is the best place for yummy chicken rice balls. Their menu is simple as they only have the rice balls and steamed white chicken. The chicken is nothing to shout about but the rice balls itself is to die for. Yummy when eaten with the chicken gravy and their home made chilli sauce.
Only downside to this place is the damn queue & service. You would be queuing in the hot sun for like 40 minutes before you can get a seat. Hence many a times I just end up in the other joints nearby. The servers are impatient and rude. They expect you to know what you want when you sit and quickly eat and leave.
Got to visit this place at least once. Then decide if its worth the wait and poor service.

This is the place to go for awesome naan & tandoori. Can't believe after frequenting Malacca for years that I just only got to try this place out. The naan (whatever variety) is fluffy & soft. Goes great with the dal or you can opt to have any of the North Indian side dishes like palak paneer & butter chicken. The tandoori chicken itself is another treat. Tender, succulent and spicy. My mouth is just watering thinking about it.
Not to be missed joint in Malacca. I dare say it is one of the best if not the best naan & tandoori in Malaysia.

There are quite a few Nyonya restaurants in Melaka. This is one of the oldest & is the best around. Only issue would be getting in. Gets way too crowded during peak times especially on weekends.
Service is a hit & miss. When crowded they can get snappish however food does come pretty fast. They do try to quicken the turnover as business is brisk. The interior is clean & comfy decorated with Peranakan related items.
Notable dishes to try would be the Ayam Buah Keluak, Asam Fish, Cincalok Omelette, Nyonya Chap Chye, Ayam Pongteh, Sotong Sambal & Okra Kerabu. All fresh, super yummy & very authentic. The cendol is just so so. Do note they are halal.
Overall would definitely recommend as the place for Nyonya food when in Melaka. If you can get through the door that is.

drinks and people watch... OK Aug 09, 2014

Not too keen on their food since we have so many varieties along Jonker Street but the Geographer Cafe is a great place to wind down, have some cold beers and people watch. The live music helps as well. Weekends are a riot here with Geographer and their competitor Ringo directly across taking turns providing live music. Service is so so and pricing is average. Best advise is to get some munchies along Jonker street, find a suitable seat, order your drinks and chill.

Selvam is my favourite place for breakfast or brunch in Malacca. Parking might be a pain due to where they are located however thats just a minor issue. They serve up awesome tosai, idli and uppuma. Even their banana leaf for lunch is yummy. Along with their rotis and idlis they serve up good dhall and curries. So far been visiting multiple times in the last 4 years and they have been consistant. Service is good and friendly and pricing wise they are pretty reasonable for indian food.
