best soup around... Smile Aug 09, 2014

This place has to be the best mutton/chicken/beef soup joint around. Not only in Penang but all of Malaysia. Taste simply heavenly and not oily like most places. Comes with 2 slices of local bread known as roti benggali which is a must. Better to request for more or have a 2nd helping of soup. Price wise I wouldn't say its cheap but its worth what you are getting. Cleanliness is below average so doubt you will be hanging around once your meal is done. Its located along the street where popular bars are located so at night its suitable for people watching as well.
A MUST try when heading to Penang! You won't be disappointed.

good indian food... OK Aug 09, 2014

We reached Penang in the evening and this was our first stop for tea. The place is packed so some patience is needed before getting a table. Service I would say is rather crappy due to perhaps the crowd. What draws people to this place must be the food which was awesome. We had mostly tea time stuff like pulut, vaade, currypuff, kesari and baaji. Judging from the quality and taste I can imagine the rest would be just as good. They also make good tea to wash down all the food.
In terms of cleanliness I would rate this place similar like most indian restaurants around Penang. Not dirty but not clean as well. Do note it does get noisy due to being a closed restaurant however in my opinion that is half the charm. If you want a quiet fine dining place then obviously this isn't it but doubt you would get as good a selection of food and taste.

good late night stop... OK Aug 09, 2014

Headed here after drinks at Soho for a bite to cap the night. Being a public holiday nothing much was open. End up being a surprising find as the food was good. We had capati rolls and butter cake which was awesome. Their murtabak is also worth a try but avoid the mutton soup. Way too oily. Their drinks are of decent quality and service was adequate. Price wise I would say normal for that area. Heard the nasi kandar isn't all that bad but too heavy so we never tried. Worth a stop when feeling peckish.
