a good Italian meal... OK Aug 08, 2014

La Risata has been around for quite awhile offering good Italian dishes. The overall deco of this place is casual & warm. Great for group gatherings or even a romantic night out. As you walk in you get the appetising aromas of wood fired pizzas. Only downside would be the parking which can be a pain.
When it comes to the food I have tried quite a few dishes so far. Starting the meal with the complimentary olive tapenade with freshly baked fluffy bread which is so addictive. Yummy appetisers would be the Antipasti Misti (grilled mushroom, fried calamari rings, beef carpaccio, garlic crostini w/ chicken liver pate) & Gnocchi Al Gameberi. For mains try the Pappardelle Al Ragu D’Agnello, Gnocchi Al Peperonchini Grillia E Chorizo & Ravioli di Frutti di Mare. Or if you have a hankering for steak their Grilled US Angus grain fed tenderloin is pretty decent.
However avoid the Risotto Nero Di Seppia which was too wet for my liking & the Spaghetti Alla Risata which was just too salty. Unfortunately have not tried any desserts. Am always too full after the mains. Heard the panna cotta & Sicilian Bombe are good. As for drinks they have interesting cocktails, a decent sangria & a good wine list. Their coffee is not bad as well to cap the night.
Service is a hit & a miss. When busy it would be hard to get the waiters attention & food might arrive late. However on normal occasions they are okay. Nothing that would stop you from frequenting this place.

decent cafe... OK Aug 08, 2014

This lil' nook at Happy Mansion, Section 17 is a pretty decent find. Their claim to fame would be the coffee & pastries. Tried the mocha & cappuccino so far and both were pretty good. When it comes to the food I have tried their quiche, tarts, cakes, danish & croissant. All of them were good especially the mushroom & ham quiche and rhubarb tart.
The place itself is rather small but comfy. Can get crowded however during off hours its nice to sit outside & while away the time. Service is friendly & quick.

good porky fix... OK Aug 08, 2014

This place is known for its porky dishes. Been hearing a lot of negative reviews recently but still decided to give it a try. Place was still packed so I guess they aren't doing that bad. Service was average.
When it comes to the food it was a hit & a miss. Taste wise they were all delicious. We had the carbonara (Wolf's Favourite), salmon salad & pork kebabs. Downside being the salmon salad came with only a handful of thinly sliced salmon. For what we are paying it was very disappointing.
Wanted to try their desserts but we were too full. Maybe next time. Will surely return to try some of the other items on the menu.

tasty desserts... OK Aug 08, 2014

We were walking around Bangsar looking for a dessert place & stumbled upon this place. What a find! They have a huge selection of crepes & waffles. Plus decent selection of teas, coffee & alcohol. The restaurant itself is pretty cosy overlooking the street. Decent deco & not too stuffy. Service was attentive, friendly & quick. Nice place to just relax & watch the world go by.
We had the crepe with roasted bananas & vanilla ice cream. The first batch that came had a rotten banana which they replaced immediately. Kudos to that. The crepe was light & flaky. Goes along well with the roasted banana & ice cream. Such a delight. Only drawback would be the price as you would expect more than just 1 sliced banana & 1 scoop of ice cream.
Will consider returning one day. Not just for the desserts as they do have savoury crepes as well plus burgers, salads & sandwiches. Price is what makes me think twice of this place. If the portions matched if would be a different story.

all things porky... OK Aug 08, 2014

Head to this place for all things porky. From the belly to the knuckle to ribs. Great variety of sausages & cold cuts too. Apart from the regular variety you can get Iberico pork as well. If am not mistaken the cuisine is towards Swiss & German. Items worth trying your be the bacon quiche, roast pork knuckle, stuffed belly, sausage platter & the ribs.
Only problem being this place is rather pricey. Prices have been going up slowly while portions reducing. Thankfully taste remains the same throughout the years.
