Taiwanese dessert that shook KL Smile Jan 30, 2012

RAWR...!!!!!
It's attack of the Taiwanese food!!!!! mad
hehe^^ ever since I've been to college, which was about 2 years ago... One of the best and most consistent taiwanese dessert was snowflakes.
No doubt about it when you go to their stall, the queue would clearly tell you how good are their desserts...
As a fellow dessert lover, this is by far the top best dessert from my personal experience, with a good balance of taste and price, this is the BEST!!tongue
Their stall always have the same look, the same furniture and the same UFO (an alarm system to let you know that your dessert is ready). And it's always FULL of people!!! maybe not always...but during off-working hours, be ready to queue for a while.
Spacing may look like insufficient when you get there, but don't worry, by the time you reach your counter and order, there will be seats for you. =)
Nice ambience with nice music and not to mention about people chatting.

First timers would bedazzled by the amount of variety that they have, ranging from shaved ice to taufu fa to taiwanese bubble milk tea. They have different types of shaved ice, grass jelly ice and soya ice. But my personal favourite is their best seller, which is grass jelly ice with grass jelly topped with taro-balls (it's my favourite add-on!!!) hehe^^ it's very simple but the taste is awesome!! the grass-jelly ice may look pale but it's taste is full and light. Very refreshing indeed.

Another dessert that can try is their sea-amber jelly topped with pearls. This dessert is another very simple yet refreshing ice when you don't quite like the taste of soya or grass jelly ice.

Recommended Dish(es):  bestseller and shaved ice

Ahhh, time for some drink reviews. smile
This stall sells its name as a soy bean stall. Soy bean = healthy choice
Am I right I suppose nowadays, people are getting more health conscious and with demand there is a supply.
So I've been to this shop twice and tried different smoothies. I've tried their mango soy smoothies which they used real mango pieces and soy milk to blend with ice. The end-product, a very refreshing ice-blended smoothy that is healthy and delicious. smile Truly, when you compare it with the other ice blended bubble milk tea outside in the market, you don't know what they are putting in and most of the time, they will have artificial flavouring in it.
I've also tried their honeydew soy bean smoothy. lol Oh, and if you think it is gonna be weird. Wait till you try theirs, they blend chucks of honeydew fruit with soy milk and ice. The final product, a very outstanding drink that sure give you an amusement. smile The taste of honeydew can be tasted with a tinge of soy milk as you enjoy this interesting combination.

Cheap Western (non-halal) Smile Jan 25, 2012

This is another rather hard to find place, unless of course it is near your area.
As for me, I was suggested by a friend of mine while we went for the Thursday pasar malam at Taman OUG. He used to lived around that area, so he knows the place pretty good.
Anyways, the place is like a hawker stall type of setting. Not that clean for people that are particular with hygienic environment. However, you get to sit on an al-fredo where it isn't stuffy inside.
Moving on to the main dish, the western food!!!! They serve the usual western food selection including fish & chips, chicken chop, beef steak, lam chop, mixed grill and not to mention (for those that take pork) PORK CHOPS!!!! shocked true enough, they serve pork chops!!!! and even better is that they serve wonderfully well-done pork chops that are succulent and juicy, while it's gravy compliment the porky taste of the pork chop. Their pork chops are constant in quality and always never fail to amuse me with awe and excitement. Though, sometimes the place might get a bit too warm to enjoy the food.
They have a little bit different kind of side dish compared to the usual western food where they serve cold coleslaw and french fries. Here, they serve potato salad and blanched broccoli and carrots. A very simple yet delicious side dish to give the consumer a not too-overwhelmed feeling after eating their food and makes you wanna come back for more!!! Their potato salad is very different from the usual type of potato salad. When it first come, you will wonder what is this, why did he serve you a half-piece of potatoes with its inside dug out and there are round balls of potato balls with gravy in it Well, don't be alarmed, this is where the magic comes, the potatoes were dug out in balls and cooked separately with mushroom gravy. A bite from this well-cooked potato salad will get you craving for more!!! mad

Buffet in the heart Smile Jan 15, 2012

This place is not that hard to get to as it's very close to city center, especially Jln Tun Razak.
A very compelling place to have a restaurant indeed. Using an empty land and keeping its original single story house model as it's restaurant, this restaurant induce tones of excitement in me when I headed to this place. I didn't expect that there would be such a restaurant to be here. Keeping it's old house look that is painted all white and with a small pond that greets you before you enter the restaurant, this place sure has a taste for landscape and spacing. Absolutely fascinated by this concept, the interior was even more stunning. It was miniature in size but cozy at the same time. having a backyard that could accommodate than what you would expect a small house from the front view was indeed surprising. Not to mention that there were breeze at that time, making it a very relaxing place to have a meal.

We came to this place for it's weekday buffet lunch that was featured on Groupon, a coupon-based site. Despite the rather small buffet spread, the food are scrumptious. There were, salads, spaghetti, french fries with chicken balls, pizza and baked cheese potatoes and vegetables. *yum yum*lol pizza that was fine-thin crust were their specialty, it had very thin crust just like the name said it would be. The toppings were just nice, not too little nor overloaded. They served a variety of pizzas, including mushroom olives and hawaiian chicken that were served in the buffet spread. The fragrant scent of olives could be tasted when you bite in to the thin layered pizza. Simple and delightful. Another highlight of the place would be the baked cheese potatoes and vegetables. A mixture of creamy sauce baked with washed, cut potatoes, cauliflowers and cherry tomatoes, topped with a huge amount of cheese that are baked. All to your taking. Awesomely great!!!

Sincerely, I was really really satisfied with the food there and if there were more choices I believed it would have been greater!! smile here's a pic of how the buffet is done.

Fusion experiment OK Jan 15, 2012

This is another restaurant that is close by to Hotel Sri Petaling. It's one of those so called "fusion" western and asian restaurant around this area.
From the overall outside view, this place has a "lounge-gy" feel where the interiors are all very wood-based furniture, giving this whole place that dark feel.
They have very friendly staffs that greet you when you come in. Their menu are rather extensive, like any western food restaurant, they have the fundamental fish & chips, chicken chop, lamb chop, spaghetti and steak. Besides that, they also have Asian food, like nasi goreng and other asian cuisine. They had set meals during the lunch period and my family and I ordered from most of the set meals while I took the lamb chop with spaghetti. My brother took the chicken chop with spaghetti, while my parents shared a salmon steak. The set meal consisted of a drink (fruit juice/tea/coffee), soup of the day and the mains. The soup which came first was cream mushroom soup. Just like any canned mushroom soup, it was the same.

My brother's chicken chop came, the plate was quite full of stuff, it had salad, spaghetti and chicken chop, making it looked really big portion. He dug in. The spaghetti looked dry with coating of olive oil and garlic. A generous amount of spaghetti was given. My parents food came and with the amount of salmon came, we thought that it was rather worth it. My dad took a bite, he is very particular about fish odour in unwell-cooked fishes, but apparently so, the salmon was fine. Mine came, I started off with the spaghetti. Personally, it was a bit too dry and oily, it was rather tasteless as well. Then I moved on to the main course, lamb chop. It was a bit overcooked and the whole lamb chop tasted like chewing a piece of gum. It was too tough. And with the overwhelming amount of spaghetti that was oily, the whole meal made me felt bloated at the end of everything. An uncomfortable experience for me, personally I felt. Nothing exciting about this restaurant, sadly.
