Wahab's restaurant is claimed to serve the best cendol in town. I think they are indeed right. I walked in to the place seeing the giant newspaper printed as the wallpaper kind of. It's really a cool decoration, which also allows people to know more about the history of the shop.

I ordered the famous cendol which served in a satisfying big portion. Though the ice wasn't shaved finely, but it actually quite nice to bite on the coarsely shaved ice. The ingredients are generous, and the flavour is good. Thumbs up!

However, please do not expect for a good service.

Authentic Hakka dishes Smile Jan 12, 2012

I love Hakka food as it's part of my childhood memory, and I reckon food in Ying Ker Lou have the similar taste as mum's cooking, the authentic Hakka flavour!

The Hakka style Yam Abacus is quite nice, the balance between the glutinous flour and yam paste is well done, chewy and nice to bite on. The dish is stir-fried with lots of mushroom and shrimps. Yummy!

Lei Cha is basically a bowl of rice that topped with lots of different vegetables, beancurd and nuts. Very healthy! It is served with a bowl of 'tea', which has some tea leaves, sesame, peppermints etc blended in. I love to pour the tea over to the rice and eat (authentic way), but some people might not be able to accept the taste of tea, and choose to eat the rice with vegetables only. Your choice actually!

We also ordered the steamed minced pork. The dish is very well done. The right ratio of fatty meat and lean meat used makes the dish so great. Good job.

I heard Dragon-i is famous for their xiao long bao, so we ordered one to try. Indeed the steamed buns taste good, the skin is skillfully thin, and the juice inside taste very favourful. Love it.

My hubby ordered the Soy Chicken steamed rice with Lup Cheong (Chinese sausage) and Shiitake Mushroom. The portion is huge. The soy chicken is very tender, the juice of the chicken sort of dripping down to the rice, and enhances the fragrant of the rice, yummy!

I had the hokkaido ramen. The soup base is rich, and the scallops are big. Very satisfying!

Meaty meal OK Jan 12, 2012

Wangsa Walk is one of the very convenient shopping mall located in the neighbourhood. It has quite a number of restaurants and eateries, good stuffs! TGI Friday is one of them. Sharply located just outside the shopping, you couldn't barely miss it. Quite spacious inside too.

This place is famous for their American style of food - burgers, steaks, grills .. quire meaty. Not feeling hungry, I ordered just the snacks - boneless buffalo bites. Like buffalo wings, these chicken bites are hot and spicy, well-marinated and deep-fried to crisp! Juicy and tender, they are very yummy to bite on.Served with celery, the vegetable simply chills you up if you tongue is getting a bit too hot with the spiciness! smile

Could be better OK Jan 10, 2012

Whenever I go to a restaurant for dim sum, I'll order the prawn roll for sure. The prawn roll here in Crystal Jade is so so only, as their rice roll is quick thick.

The crab roe noodles is not bad, though lacking of some wow factors. The soup broth is too mild in taste I reckon.

The dumpling is good though, the stuffing is very well-seasoned, dip in red chili oil sauce, this dish can spice up your appetite.

My favourite dish of the meal is the salty egg yolk bun. The watery salty egg yolk stuffing is such a luxury to taste on! Thumbs up.
