A.Felix (Arabia Felix),a simple café located at masai area among the residential area. Despite its simplicity, it provides you with a place to relax and enjoy a cup of
coffee.

It opened its door in June 2015, serving western, Italian, cakes and coffee. The decoration of the café was minimalistic yet modern. It gives a very cosy and relaxing vibe upon entering the café. Diners do not have to worry about parking as there are ample of parking lots directly outside the café.

The
management of the café was very thoughtful to provide two sets of menu (Chinese and English) to cater to different patrons. The staff also patiently explains their specialties to us for us to make easy decision.

Since we visit the place about 9pm, we decided on cakes and tea instead of mains. We are also surprised that the café was still quite crowded with people as there are two groups of patrons having their mini birthday celebration.

We have ordered the Vanilla Yam cake and the Fruit Basket Tea. The price was decent with no service charge nor GST imposed.

The fruit basket was actually a mixture of fruit tea. It was fruity and lightly. It leave a sweet-smelling fragrant after consuming.

As for the vanilla yam cake, the vanilla sponge cake was soft, fluffy and moist. The kind of sponge cake that makes you desire for more. The yam paste sandwiched by the cakes was smooth and creamy. You can taste some bits of yam. It was really delicious and the sweetness was just right. You will not be sick of eating it.

I was very sad that I have missed the Christmas special waffles that are valid from 1st Dec till 31th Dec as well as their Signature Iced Chocolate (as I was feeling guilty for bursting my calories).

Really hope to find time to go down for the signature iced chocolate and hope that the special waffles will be back.

Mizu Shingen Mochi 水信玄饼 (Japanese Water Cake) a famous desserts in Japanese and korea has finally reached JB. Mizu shingen mocha is looks like a suspended water drop but it was actually a cake. It was usually topped with fine peanut and brown sugar sauce.

Yokosuka Curry House is the first stall to introduce this popular Japanese cake into Johor
bahru (JB). It has launched in two flavours – Original (brown sugar sauce) or the Matcha flavour. In the past, to enjoy this dessert, you have to travel to either Japan or Korea, but now, u no longer have to do so. All you have to do is to travel to JB (city square).

The first Yokosuka Curry House was located at City Square level 3 Innercity. It is in the directly opposite wongkok restaurant. It was a very compact stall where there is about 5 seats surrounding the stall.

Yokosuka Curry House was famous for its Japanese curry set meals. But this introduction
of mizu shingen further fuels its popularity. But the time we reach at 4pm, we bought the last mizu shingen. Do pop by early for a try of this japanese water cake. The Japanese water cake was prepared beforehand by the chef. So what he did was to
pour the water cake to the boat like plate before topping it up with the sauce and peanuts.Do note that the water cake will disintegrate with 30 mins at room temperature, so consume it fast before it is gone. The water cake taste was rather tasteless. The only flavour you taste was the brown sugar syrup or the matcha syrup. It existed by a jelly. It pretty much exists like water being solidified by the “maker of mizu shingen mocha” insisted that it was a cake. The fine peanut and the syrup helps to add flavour to the cake so do remember to ensure that every bite was filled with the toppings.

Mizu Shingen Mochi (RM 5.90) – Original / Matcha

If you were to ask me which flavour is nicer, I would say that brown sugar flavour was nicer as it match the peanut better. But both taste equally similar. It was a dish to try once in a lifetime, but to be honest; its taste was rather bland and normal.

D'Art Cafe 艺术咖啡馆 claimed to be “the one and only cafe with art and nature concept in malaysia.” It was not hard to find café which integrate art or nature element but to have both integrated, it was seldom seen. It was opened in June 2013 in Kulai , which was along the same stretch of road along Tesco.

It was true that the café integrate nature like bamboo and art pieces in the café, it was slightly over to claim that it is the one and only café with art and nature concept as the element of nature was not really fully integrated. The bamboo shoot was place outside the dining area, so the diners do not really get the opportunity to immerse themselves in the nature.

Tocreate an environment to resemble nature, wood furniture was being used. Colourful
menu board and decoration helps to create a more artsy vibe.

But I do admit that the place was really cooling due to the natural sunshade from the trees. The decoration was simple yet cosy. The staff service was awesome become the moment we enter, the staff warmly introduce the food and the place to us.

D’art Café not only serve light snacks and coffee, they serve pretty cakes as well.As we have already eaten breakfast, we are here for cakes instead.

While waiting for our cake to be served, we enjoy looking at the art pieces around the
café. We have order the Japan Green Tea & Red Bean Cake as well as Tea w
Honey Lemon.

The nature and arts being incorporated in the outdoor seating area.

Enjoying the quietness among busyness while enjoying hi-tea, it is definitely something
one can enjoy the most.

Japan Green Tea & Red Bean Cake (RM 10.90) & Tea w Honey Lemon (RM 9)

The green tea cake was moist and fluffy. It was layered with sweet red bean paste. This makes us feel like we are eating “tau sau bao (red bean bun).” This is because the red bean paste has similar texture with that of the paste of the bun. You can’t really feel the beans. It was pretty nice eating it.

After munching the cake, the sweetness continues to retain in the mouth. A cup of tea could help to neutralized it. The lemon tea was served with a packet of honey and a peanut butter biscuit. The honey was not too sweet thus even after adding a whole packet, the taste was just right.

It was a pleasure spending my morning here, enjoying the arts and food. Visitors who are in kulai area can drop by and enjoy this place. It was really accessible.

There are a great number of vegetarian eateries in around JB but the high-end concept choices are limited. Vegetarian food and desserts can be delicious and yummy. They do not just exist as mixed rice “菜饭”, they can also be exquisitely made and served. With the right use of fresh ingredients, and the heart to satisfy customers’ needs, these foods can be heavenly. In dessert library, customers will no longer have the common misconceptions about food served in vegan restaurants where they have limited choices, plain and
boring taste, or too many deep fried items.

Located in the same area as the “café village” - Mount Austin, Desserts Library makes
it easy for diners to visit due to its high accessibility. For non-vegetarian, after days of feasting, why not visit this place for something green. Or one can visit it for desserts too.

Dessert library has the aim to provide diners with authentic natural food, thus the use
of fresh ingredients and limit its use or artificial products. Most of the food is naturally handmade by them.

Entering the stall, you will feel as though you are in the library as it was decorated with high bookshelf filled with books and tables (as though meant for revision by the students).

I was in the mood for desserts thus dragging my bf and his bro for a try of their naturally made desserts. We have ordered Beancurd Jelly with Watermelon 西瓜豆腐花 (RM 6.80), Milky Ice with Sago and Grass Jelly 西瓜豆腐花 (RM 9.90) & UJikintoki宇治金时 (RM 17.80).

Beancurd Jelly with Watermelon 西瓜豆腐花 (RM 6.80): Silky smooth beancurd was added to fresh squeeze watermelon. It was refreshing to enjoy this desserts especially under this unbearable hot sun.

Milky Ice with Sago and Grass Jelly 西瓜豆腐花 (RM 9.90): The grass jelly was really smooth. The sago was slightly chewy. The milky ice was slightly sweet but not too unbearable.

UJikintoki宇治金时 (RM 17.80): My favourite! The rice ball was extremely chewy and smooth. You can have fun letting it bounce in your mouth. The pound cake was slightly dry but coupled with the matcha ice cream and milky ice, it was a perfect match. This matcha desserts was great as it does not have the bitter after taste.

My favourite! I strongly recommend this.

For a taste of these delicious desserts, do visit dessert library. I will definitely drop by for more and have a taste of their exquisite vegetarian delight too.

Rowan & Parsley Food Atelier, a place for quiet and tasty food. You will be surprised to discover is sanctuary in the industrial area along the highway towards pasir gudang. The tall cast-iron gates at the entrance makes patrons feel as though they have stepped into a place of mystery. A place with a secret garden within..

This café was recommended by my bf as he stays nearby. This café was set up after the industrial factory was brought over by the owner and modified into a café with large panels of full height glass being used. During the day, these help to induce natural daylight which helps patrons to feel very bright and refreshing. Within the outdoor landscape, the garden is
where the greenery on our dining table came from. For diners worrying about parking, do not worry as there are parking lots outside the café guard by a security guard hired by the café.

In the night, the place has a very romantic ambiance due to the lighting use.Within the café, it was decorated with metal fixing to resemble industrial setup. The high ceiling (as it was previously a factory) and the vastly spaced furniture make the
places very spacious. Diners can choose to either sit in door or admire the night view at the outdoor alfresco area.

The flaky crust contrasts perfectly with the creamy, gelish, chocolatey filling; which makes this tart a truly unique combination withthe aftermath earl grey fragrant.

They do serve exquisite food as well. Do visiy my blog for more details at http://jacefootprints.blogspot.sg/2016/05/jb-malaysia-rowan-parsley-food-atelier.html
