The Grind Burger Bar @ Section 17 OK Jan 02, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

My boyfriend wanted to have burger for sometime therefore when I know offpeak got 25% for The Grind Burger Bar, I quickly booked it for 3pax at 6pm. My boyfriend was so happy when I told him about that. The Grind Burger Bar is located same row with The Humble Pie, Section 17. They serves Breakfast Set, Lunch Set, Hotdogs, Burgers, Deserts and Beverages (Alcoholic and non- Alcohol). We were welcomed by the staff at the entrance before seating on our preferred table. I chose the table near by window so that I got a natural light to take a photo but by the time foods arrive it was almost dark. Couple of people occupied the cafe when we arrived at 6pm and the ambiance of the cafe was lovely with Christmas decorations. I ordered Grind House (Pork), Hot Chocolate and Big Black Dog.

Hot Chocolate has a rich chocolate flavour that was a bit bitter for my liking and I ended up adding some sugar to go with the Hot Chocolate.

Hot Chocolate @ RM 8

Grind House (Pork) was okay. The bread was perfectly toasted and topped with caramelized onion, fried egg but the patty is blend and no seasonings. I love to have my patty has its own seasoning so that I no need to add any sauce to eat with the burger.

Grind House (Pork) @ RM 22

The Hot dog was placed in between the black bun and topped with Chilii pork, caramelized onion and cheese. Yummy!! French Fries are not soggy and freshly prepared after you placed your order and it is included in the set.

Big Black Dog @ RM 18

Overall, it is a good dinner especially the Hot Dogs. Would love to drop by again to try their Hot Dogs as for the burger I still prefer KGB and Patty & Pie. Good service and nice environment to hang out with friends.

Franco @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre OK Dec 16, 2015

Categories : Japanese | French | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta

My boyfriend planned our
anniversary dinner at Franco, 1 Utama . Franco is located at Ground Floor, 1
Utama Shopping Centre (Old Wing). They serves fusion of Japanese and western
cuisine. We were welcomed by the staff at the entrance before seating us on our
preferred table. The ambiance of the restaurant was simple yet comfortable.
Couple of people occupied the cafe when we arrived around 8pm but it started
filling up quickly after that. They have both indoor and outdoor seating area
for the customer. We ordered Minestrone Soup, Chocolate Soufflé, Riz Au Curry
and Franco's Spaghetti Yumeina. Hearty Classic Vegetable Soup is cooked with goodness of celery chunks, potatoes and carrots in savoury and rich soup. Bread was toasted perfectly with cheese on the top.

Riz Au Curry was rich, cheesy and definitely a guilty pleasure. Bed of rice with Japanese curry and melted cheese on the top with poached eggs and 2 sausages. Every spoon was delightful.

Happy Anniversary Baby!!

Franco's Spaghetti Yumeina is simply delicious, big portion and the poached egg adds an additional creamy texture to the spaghetti. I think it is overpriced, it only have few meat slices.

Chocolate Soufflé is soft and fluffy.

It was perfect anniversary for us. The foods are tasty but some of
the foods are overpriced especially Chocolate Soufflé and Franco's Spaghetti
Yumeina. Good service and the foods were served fast.

Tips: You have to settle your bill at the counter.

Everyone love deals! Discounts! Vouchers! Recently when I went to my favourite book shop "BORDERS", I came across this F&B Worthy Book in the magazine section. Initially I thought it was a food magazine but I was wrong, it is a voucher book. After flipping through few pages, I loved it. It has voucher of some of my favourite’s restaurants like Sushi Tei, Three Little Pigs, myburgerLab, Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks and so on. It was a valuable deal for me. The value I get from this book is more than the cost of this book which is RM 29.90. So, finally I decided to buy the book and I was very curious on how this book full of vouchers works. Since I was in Midvalley, my sister recommends having lunch at Tiffin's By Chef Korn as it had "Buy 2 Free 1" set menu voucher. Tiffin's by Chef Korn is located at 3rd Floor, Mezzanine (North Midvalley Megamall). They serve Thai Foods in a unique concept. The restaurant was empty when we arrived around 3pm as it is over lunch hours. The ambiance of the restaurant was cool. It is decorated with antique and cute tiffin containers. The attractive colour of Tiffin container really attracted me to click photos of it. I ordered Thai Basil Pork Set, Lemongrass, Green Curry Pork Set and Tom Yum Chicken Set.

Lemongrass Tea @ RM 6.80 (Unlimited Refills)

Green Curry Pork set was rich and creamy. Tasty!!

Green Curry Pork Set @ RM 19.80

Thai Basil Pork Set was hot & spicy. I loved it. Mix a spoon of Tom Yum Soup in the rice and add some Thai Basil Pork & enjoy. So gooood!!

The style they serve Tom Yum Chicken is something new to me. They serve Lime, Chilli and Coriander in a separate bowl and you have to add them to your own preference. Something different but I prefer mine to be fully prepared in the kitchen. It lacks of spicy taste that we wants.

Tom Yum Chicken Set @ RM 19.80

Cute Dishes served in Tiffin containers. Fried Prawn Wrapped in Wantan Skin, Salad and Watermelon (Included in the set). Fried Prawn wrapped in wantan skin was tasty and crunchy. Wantan Skin gives good crunch to the prawns.

It was a good lunch for us. Good service, delicious food except Tom Yum Chicken Soup.

I
bought a voucher from Groupon to celebrate Diwali eve with my boyfriend, sister
and friend's family at Rolling Pin, Sri Hartamas (Plaza Damas). I get RM 50 for
RM 150 cash value for all foods & beverages. We called them 1 day in
advance to make a reservation as instructed in the voucher. They serve variety
of Indian, Pakistani, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese meals for the customers.
Couple of people occupied the restaurant when we arrived at 7pm. The ambiance
of the restaurant was cozy and good. We ordered Lamb Briyani, Vegetable
Briyani, Non-Veg Platter, Assorted Bread Basket, Dhal Makhani and Rasmalai.

Complimentary Papadum. Papadums are pan fried which is total opposite to the normal deep fry version. Healthy!!Just dip them in the Mint Chutney and enjoy. Mint Chutney is fresh and it has a good hint of spicy taste.

Tender and juicy chicken is irresistible with that fragment smoky flavour. Non Veg Platter includes of Prawn, Fish, Chicken & Kebab (3 pieces each)

Non Veg Platter @ RM 72

Naan choices are fixed and you cannot choose your own flavour. It tasted okay. It does not have a rich flavour and it just tasted plain to me.

Assorted Bread Basket @ RM 16

Dhal Makhani (Special Request) was good to eat with Naan.

Lamb Briyani was tasty. Mix them together while it is still hot, to have a balance flavour together.

Lamb Briyani @RM 38

Vegetable Briyani was okay as in my opinion it does not has rich spices flavour in their Briyani.

Vegetable Briyani @RM 32

Rasmalai (Special Request) was simply delicious. It was not too sweet, spongy and soft. It changes texture when you put it in the mouth.

It was
a nice Deepavali eve celebration for us. The foods are good but they need some
improvement in certain dishes, friendly service and very valuable deal for
Voucher.

Shinjiro @ Tropicana City Mall OK Dec 01, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops

Tropicana City Mall is one of my favourite hangout place in Petaling Jaya. Less crowded and plenty of food choices for the customer to choose from. So when I went Tropicana City Mall recently, I saw this restaurant "Shinjiro" is crowded with people therefore I wanted to give them a try. Shinjiro is located in Ground Floor, Tropicana City Mall (Next to Papa john Pizza). They serve limited choices of foods and beverages for the customers as their main focus are skewers. Their menu is less than 6 pages. The ambiance of the restaurant was good. Customer can see the staff preparing the skewers in the kitchen. We ordered Shinjiro Bento, Yakitori Bento, Shinjiro Fried Rice and Sweet Potato Fries.

Complimentary Starter

Sweet Potato Fries (Complimentary if you like their FB or Instagram page then post a photo and tag them) Sweet Potato Fries was sweet and tasty.

Sweet Potato Fries @ RM 8.90

Shinjiro Fried Rice was simply delicious. It has a good flavour and the fried prawn gives an additional kick to the fried rice.

Shinjiro Fried Rice @ RM 16.90

Complimentary Miso Soup.

They have plenty of sauce to go with the skewers. I loved to have them with garlic and Chilli. Garlic, Chilli and Salsa.

Shinjiro Bento was served with Salmon Sashimi, Miso Soup, Rice, 3 Skewers, Mix Tempura and Beef Chunk Patty. Salmon was okay. Not really fresh and the beef chunk patty was undercooked and when we complain they exchange with a new Beef Chunk patty. Good customer service!!

Shinjiro Bento @ RM 25.90

Yakitori Bento is served with Salad, Miso soup, Rice, Tamogoyaki, Oven Baked Oyster and 5 Skewers.

Yakitori Bento @ RM 22.90

5 Skewers (Wings, Sirloin, Squid, Quill Egg and Sweet Potato) are good except chicken wing that was dry. Sirloin was juicy and has very good black pepper taste. I loved their sweet potato. It was grilled perfectly and sweet.

Japanese Rice

It was a good dinner for us before our shopping. Good service but they need some improvement in certain dishes.
