Earlier this year, Imbi Palace Restaurant as the first outlet was being closed down to make way for future development. After some thought, the management has decided to change the name to Imbi Palace Group, a total rebranding with new name and new logo.

"At the Imbi Palace Group of Restaurants, we want to share our passion for food with you and your loved ones and bring excitement to your palate.”~Mr Lum, Chairman of Imbi Palace Group

Yum Cha @Purple Cane OK Oct 02, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Café

Purple Cane located at Osborne Street, Ipoh (also known as Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar), where the previous Foh San Dim Sum was.

If you have not come across Purple Cane before, it is a tea house established in the year 1987, with wide range of teas, brewing utensils as well as tea related products such as books and snacks.
Its first tea restaurant was opened in year 1997, which later made well-known with its tea infused dishes.

Dining area that has close to nature concept of trees and bricks, with red chairs as surprising element.
Seats under the direct sunlight are always the last in Malaysian's list of dining preferences I must say (due to the hot and stuffy weather), but these were none of those.

Herbal Tea Eggs

Sweet Potato Balls with Green Tea Dipping Sauce
Slightly oily and the green tea dipping sauce was slightly sweet to my preference.

2 private rooms are available with minimum spending of RM150 each.

Tuck Kee Smile Oct 02, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

"Fifty years of fried noodle experiences, the third generation of Ipoh Tuck Kee is well known for its tender fried War Tan Hor Fun and the delicious of fried noodles with appetizers."

Located at Jalan Yau Tet Shin, this restaurant stands at the same row with the famous Lou Wong Bean Sprouts Chicken, attracting many tourists and Ipohians at night, especially during long holidays.

Baby Octopus in Soy Sauce 清甜八爪鱼
The octopus is blanched, then poured over with hot oil and soy sauce.
It then was garnished with spring onion and fried garlic, served alongside with special made chili sauce.
This succulent and fresh tasting octopus is a must order!

Meatballs Soup 猪肉丸
Though looks normal and unappealing, it has surprised me with its dense and chewy texture, not to mention the dry cuttlefish inside that elevates the porky taste.

War Tan Hor Fun 滑蛋河粉
Also known as Smooth Rice Noodles with Eggs.
Different with KL, Ipoh War Tan Hor has bigger ratio of egg gravy versus noodles, hence the soupy taste with fried noodles texture.

Ipoh Bean Sprouts 怡保芽菜
Another must have at Ipoh.

Recommended Dish(es):  Baby Octopus in Soy Sauce

I am in love with the not so thoroughly cooked tamago, in which it is still in half liquid form, so soft and smooth that it literally melt in my mouth. Pair that up with the appetizing sauce of sweet and sour, along with crispy rice crust.
So perfect that I have finished the whole bowl myself.
