Hometown Hainan Coffee OK Oct 22, 2012
Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

Round bun chicken consisting of fried egg and shredded chicken. The bun with a thin layer of butter was slightly toasted and it was so aromatic.

Hainan kaya butter bread. The bread was crispy and soft. The kaya was not too sweet and quite smooth.

Omega half-boiled eggs. The eggs were served warm and fresh.

Hainan Cham. It was slighly bitter and not "gao".

Overall the food were tasty.

Roti Canai and Fried Bittergourd OK Oct 20, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant

Pelita's roti canai was very ordinary. The roti served was not freshly make. It was not warm. The roti does not have the flakiness on the outside. The texture was not fluffy and soft. I have difficulty to cut it into smaller pieces.

My family and I love indian fried bittergourd. Pelita's fried bittergourd was not so crispy and spicy, but it still tasted great. It still have the bitterness.

I bought a few curry puff and green bean coconut kueh on the way to work. The malay kueh stall is located at Kelana Jaya LRT station.

The curry puff pastry was crispy. It was not oily and thick. The filling consisted mashed potato with curry paste. It was fragrant.
The green bean coconut kueh was not too sweet. It was stuffed with green bean and coconut shred.

Overall the kuehs were okay.

Baked Seafood Spaghetti  OK Oct 14, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Seafood | Halal

Baked seafood spaghetti. It consisted of calamari, prawns and mussels with spaghetti cooked in spicy tomato sauce. This dish was served with a plastic wrap. I guess they want to make the cheese melt on the spaghetti. The calamari was big and chewy . The prawns were fresh and sweet. The spicy tomato sauce was not spicy at all. Overall this dish was tasty and cheesy.

Highway Cafe's Fried Rice OK Oct 12, 2012

The Highway Cafe's fried rice consisted of chicken slices, prawns, eggs and vegetables. It was a very simple fried rice and came in a big portion. The chicken slices were slightly dry and the prawns were fresh but small in size. In my opinion, more eggs should be added to make the fried rice more fragrant. Overall the dish was okay. It was not oily and lack of wok hei.
