Japanese Cucumber

Japanese Cucumber

Whenever there is Din Tai Fung, there will be "Xiu Loong Bao" (Steamed meat dumpling) or their infamous Noodle Soup with Fried Pork Chop and Pork Chop Fried Rice but there is one appetizer which is worth talking about. I would like to introduce the Japanese Cucumber, simple dish but tasty.

I could say that it is my favourite! The cold cucumber must be eaten right after it is served so that you could taste and feel the chill of cucumber that would cool your senses. Do not ever leave it to get warm as it will spoil the whole dish. It is slightly spicy due to the thin layer of chilli oil coated on top and mostly very refreshing, sweet and a great starter before your main dish. It really opens up your appetite. lol

Tony Roma's Steak

Tony Roma's Steak

After receiving a number of good comments about their ribs and steak at Tony Roma's, my girlfriend and I plan to pay a visit there. As you all know, Tony Roma's is famous with its' ribs; from Bountiful Beef Ribs to their Roma Rack. Usually I would go for their specialty but not today though. Instead, I craved for something else, so i browse through their menu and I chose their steak. In fact, I fell in love to it. This medium well Ribeye steak with broccoli and garlic butter rice as side lines are really delicious and they mixed quite well. The steak is so tender, juicy and tasty with it's original taste. Nothing more than I can say to describe this wonderful dish. The portion is quite big but the price a bit expensive but I think it is still worth it.. Next time whenever I think of steak, I'll think of Tony Roma's. smile

Udon Soup

Udon Soup

Kagawa Prefecture is well known for its' wheat noodles (Sanuki Udon) and Taman Desa is also famous for Sanuki Udon too. A lot of locals staying around the area talks about it and I was curious to see what's the fuss. So my girlfriend and I went to this hidden gem located in a quiet neighbourhood shoplot in Taman Bukit Desa.
Udon with Egg

Kakiage

Kakiage

It was packed by people during lunch hours. When we got our seats, we order Udon with Egg, Udon Soup, Kakiage and Karaage (Chicken). The texture of the udon is thick but smooth. The kakiage is fried to crisp and it tastes really good when dipped into mayonnaise mixed together with wasabi. Yes, you heard that right! lol
Chicken Kaarage

Chicken Kaarage

The chicken karaage was juicy, crispy and meaty. Regretted we have no chance to try on the shiitake yakitori, momo (leg meat) yakitori, kawa (skin) yakitori and a few others. It is only available in the evening after 6pm. Surely I will go back again for the yakitori's. Did I mention that the green tea only cost RM1 and it can be refill? smile

When you talk about korean restaurant, nothing can beat "Seoul Korea". With so many choices of Korean restaurants around, its no surprise to me that they had the best korean food in town. Moreover, their price of food is truly reasonable. A "+" for them.
Marinated beef and kimchi soup

Marinated beef and kimchi soup

The marination of the beef by Seoul Korea was absolutely top class, as it is juicy and succulent. The kimichi soup was to perfection. Sourish and spicy, heaven to the taste buds. Time was not on my side, so I did not try the more popular 'Hae-Mul Kimchie-Jeon' (Korean Style Seafood Kimchi Pancake). Before the end, there is complimentary watermelon and bottle of ginger drink. I will definitely go back to this place again.

Teriyaki Chicken Set Lunch

Teriyaki Chicken Set Lunch

San Francisco Steakhouse, a well-known place among diners and it was lunch time and we were strolling in Tropicana Mall and came across this place where they offer set lunch at RM16.90. I thought why not give it a try since the price is fair enough for a place like that. The set I ordered was Teriyaki Chicken that came with a bowl of soup and a glass of drink. They served the chicken in a weird way which I have never seen at a dining restaurant before. The fries, sauce and chicken were served on top of a silk paper (burger wrapping paper) and nothing resembles the photo shown on the menu BUT the taste resembles otherwise. The meat is juicy and tender and it is thick. I never tasted chicken breast as juicy as this. At least they lived up to its' name. Nothing more to talk about as I munched all my way down; it is really satisfying. tongue
