Rich and hearty yam cake Smile Dec 24, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook

Now, this is what yam cake is supposed to be like. Dense and heavy, full of chunky yam, and topped with dried shrimp. The flavour is very yammy, and you can't taste any cheap flour (that's commonly used as a filler to cheapen it). Served with sweet chilli sauce.

Fried fare Smile Dec 31, 2013

The pan-fried dumplings were juicy and meaty. Relatively flavourless otherwise, unless you dip in vinegar - then all the flavours pop.

This fried cake thingy has soft radish cake inside. It's starchy and good.

One of the best fried stuff here is the meat rolls. It's super juicy, but quite oily.

Be smart at McD Smile Dec 29, 2013

If you're smart like me, and are considering between one of the beef burgers during the lunch or dinner promo time, double cheeseburger should be what you pick. Best bang for buck at RM6.95++. While it's not huge, it's comparatively the cheapest per ringgit. The meat is not particularly flavourful, and quite dry, but nothing a lot of chilli sauce can't fix.

Fries are always the best - hot, lightly salty, and crispy on the outside.

We noticed a lot of tables ordering this, so it piqued our curiosity - we just had to try it. The fish balls are home-made, and taste like a mix of pork and fish (which I think it was) - it was fresh, soft, and very tasty. Popiah was not too oily, and juicy. Prawn crackers were very crispy.

Mysterious blue kuih Smile Dec 24, 2013   (Related Review)

I don't know what it is with nyonya kuih and their need to colour everything weirdly, but this blue kuih does visually appeal. The middle layer tastes coconutty and hints of the sweetness of gula melaka. The top and bottom layers are loaded with sago and tastes mostly neutral.
