Chilli pan mee Smile Dec 31, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

Quite unusual for chilli pan mee to have fried onions, but I find it quite pleasant. It's really the chilli that brings out the flavour, and theirs is fine, but a bit salty. Lots of fried anchovies, but the egg white is too firm. Serving portion is pretty decent.

Onion Rings! Smile Dec 31, 2013
Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant

Onion ring is like the staple food for my friend. He ordered this over lunch to complement his mains. The batter was just perfect; it was not too thick and not shrouding the taste of onion. Onion was not too soft either, which added some crunch into whole dish.

Asam laksa Smile Dec 31, 2013
Categories : Malaysian variety | Stall / Warung | Noodles

I don't get why there's such a long queue at this asam laksa truck. Environment is hot and crowded, and it is very difficult to get a table, especially when you're eating alone. The soup is sour but not thick, there's not much vege, and the serving size is very small.

Tom Yam Glass Noodle Smile Dec 31, 2013   (Related Review)

Glass noodle always has this unique texture and look which I fond of. Although it does not retain or trap flavor as good as other types of noodles, it did taste pretty good with tomyam. I guess that is why they tend to put more seasoning to help counter the downside. It was loaded with quite a number of prawns also.

Siew yoke Smile Dec 31, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

Siew yoke here is relatively inexpensive and relatively decent. The skin is crispy and salty. The layer of fat is not fully melty, but at least not too chewy or rubbery. The meat is taste and soft. The combined tastes remind me why I love pork so much tongue
