Salted fish pan mee Cry Dec 01, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

This place is ultra crowded during lunch time, with people queuing to get tables, and sharing tables is part of the dining culture here... so food must be good right? That's what I was told, but I think I've been lied to.

My salted fish pan mee was absolutely terrible. Despite having very little ingredients and sauce, all I could taste was saltiness (but not the fish), and it was just a lot of noodles and really overpriced.

Roti babi Cry Nov 30, 2013   (Related Review)

So, D Legends Bar shows us they're human after all, in that they're not always perfect with their food. Despite priding themselves on their porky offerings, their roti babi, which is pretty much basically pulled pork stuffed in bread, is not really good.

The meat was flavourful, but too dry for the bread; and there was too little of it for too much bread. Bread was buttery but it didn't salvage the dish.

Bankrupting bak chang Cry Nov 28, 2013

This restaurant seems to specialize in bak changs, with a large variety, and even one which costs RM238++ for 2kg. Madness! But what I tried was a little more modest. It's one of the more traditional ones, with chestnut, mushroom, and pork... or so it claims.

There was like half a chest nut, 2 slices of mushroom, some pork fat, and almost no meat. I felt cheated to have paid RM10+ for this nonsense. It was bland, super oily, and was tiny. Totally regret eating here.

Pork lasagna Cry Nov 28, 2013

So, pork, pasta sheets, and cheese. Sounds like a winning combination, doesn't it? Sad to say, no, not necessarily. I fail to understand the hype with this place (which seems to have died down lately, rightfully). Such a good idea on paper comes out so horribly wrong.

Can you identify any pork from the pictures? I can't - because there's hardly any! There's almost no sauce, and it's mostly pasta sheets. They can't even get their basics right, and think they can pass it off as good food by including a few sprinkles of minced pork.

The whole dish tasted mostly like plain pasta with some cheese (tasteless!) with enough tomato sauce for about a quarter of the dish. Granted, the tomato sauce was naturally sour from fresh tomatoes, but it doesn't salvage the dish at all.

I felt very upset after eating this. A complete waste of calories, time, and money. It's not even cheap.

Bad lamb Cry Nov 28, 2013   (Related Review)

Aiyo, how can something that looks so good and costs so much taste so unappealing? They removed the veal ossobucco from the menu because it's frankly quite terrible (and they must've acknowledged it), but they still serve this lamb which tastes almost as bad (or did they replace the veal with this?).

The taste is completely weird, with the wrong balance of salt and sour, which was quite strong. The mash tasted good but the gravy killed it. The meat wasn't even particularly tender.
