Giving Italian a bad name Cry Jul 01, 2012

With a name like Michelangelo's, I'd expect them to do some justice to Italian food, but they don't.

 
The Caesar salad that comes with the set lunch is boring and uses tough beef bacon; and the cheese is not enough.

 
The pasta was properly al dente but flavourless. The fish that came in just a few chunks tasted very out-of-the-freezer and the olives and capsicum were not cooked to sweetness and contributed nothing but out of place flavour and texture to the pasta.

For a place that prides themselves on their pork, Ad Hog's grilled pork chops are really terrible. Flavour-wise, it's fine with that sweet, smokey flavour; but the real issue lies in the texture. It's bone-dry, coarse, and very tough.

Presentation is good though, and it really fooled me into expecting better. What a disappointment!

The only thing I liked about the Korean hot pot at Wellness Recipe is the tofu - because that's the only item that's soft and juicy. The other ingredients tasted fresh, but carrots and capsicum are not vegetables that boil well - they still remain firm and are not sweetened through quick boiling.

I remember once upon a time trying the chicken tikka at Piccadilly - and it was good; but a recent revisit indicated otherwise. The chicken was tender, but the marinade was far too sour and salty, making it difficult to eat.

The mint sauce also tasted terrible - it has no texture, sweetness or creaminess at all.

I have never had such sorry toast and eggs before in my life. I really don't know how anyone could so terribly mess up simple toast and eggs.

 

 
The toast was dry and almost rubbery (it wouldn't near easily when biting). There was almost NO peanut butter in it at all - upon inspection it looked like someone just used the bread to wipe a peanut butter knife clean of its leftovers. Very, very pathetic.

 
The eggs were cold and the yolk was firm.

Even the tea didn't taste good.
