Pesto Pasta @ Seed Cafe Smile Sep 24, 2012

Came by Midvalley one day and found this cafe at the near corner of Midvalley Megamall.

I wanted to try something different, so Pesto Pasta was the way. I usually would order the cream or ketchup based pasta, but the waiter recommended a the pesto pasta, and so I tried.
Pesto Pasta

Pesto Pasta

When it arrived, it looked a little weird for me, but still interesting. The pasta is green in colour and has a pignolis mixed in it with raw beansprout as garnishing.

The first taste was a little weird, as it is sourish and a little saltiness but it has a nice strong flavour to it. I cannot describe it exactly, but it is actually quite good. Coupled with the strong tasting raw beansprouts, it makes a nice combination!

Dim Sum @ USJ Taipan OK Sep 24, 2012

Came by USJ Taipan for breakfast with a couple of friends one morning. One of them brought us to this relatively new Dim Sum restaurant, called G-YiTang.

Unlike most dim sum restaurants, G-YiTang does not have staffs pushing their trolleys of dimsum to serve us. Instead we were given an order chit and just order whatever we want.

One of the first few things we took were the customary har gao and siew mai. These 2 dishes to me, determines whether or not the dimsum is good. Upon the first bite, I was happy to say that the har gao is quite satisfactory. The skin was not too thick, nor was it too thin until it will break upon picking it up. The siew mai was not as good, but still passable. It has some nice porky taste with it, and it is quite packed and firm but it tasted a bit bland.

Another highlight would be the Shanghai Siew Long Bao. This dish is never easy to make, and unfortunately I felt that G-YiTang did not make it well enough. The skin was too thick, although the soup inside the dumpling was quite nice.

A great start to the morning with dim sum!

A beautiful mess Smile Sep 24, 2012

Messy burger

Messy burger

When my friend told me how myburgerlab was so massive, I thought it was the burger size. But upon reaching the store, I understood what she meant. It's massively packed with youngsters. I'm not that old to begin with but with the number of college/young workers here, it's quite overwhelming. There's a rule in the restaurant which only allow only 200 burgers to be sold per day. So people has to come earlier to queue for their burger. I queued about 20 minutes to order my 'Beautiful Mess' burger which cost about RM25(?), which comes with chips. I had to wait, standing and looking for a table, for another 45 minutes before my burger was ready for collection.

The size of the burger is bigger than McDonald's chicken McDeluxe but smaller than Carl's Jr standard burgers. It has black sesame buns and indeed was full of gravy and cheese. The mushroom and patty were VERY juicy and full of flavor. To me, the chips were the highlight of the set because it was extraordinarily different and tasty than most chips I've ever tasted.

However, I would only go back again when the crowd has subsided. It's still too overwhelming for me to wait for more than an hour for my meal.

Hearty breakfast Smile Sep 24, 2012

Breakfast platter

Breakfast platter

Having a grumbling stomach, I'm thinking of having a hearty brunch. We set off to Paradigm and went to Plan B, which we haven't tried before. When the breakfast platter came, it has quite a number of items. They are pretty standard, a slice of bread, baked beans, sunny side ups, sausage, hash browns, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms. The baked beans were a but too soft but taste ok, it wasn't too salty. The hash browns were great, especially good to go with the baked beans. The tomatoes and mushrooms were nicely grilled and juicy. The sausage was ok. The sunny side ups were runny and serves as a good compliment with the bread. A good hearty meal to start the day.

Came by SS15 one day for dinner with friends and he brought me to this interesting restaurant.

This restaurant is a chain restaurant in which the original restaurant is in Chan Sow Lin, KL which is famous for its steamed fish.

My friend did the ordering, and since there's only 3 of us we decided against ordering the steam fish and opted for something else.
Spinach Soup

Spinach Soup

First to arrive the spinach soup arrived. It was very sweet, as there were much wolfberries (kei zhi) used for the soup. It goes very well with rice as well.
Fried fish head in black bean sauce

Next was the Deep Fried Fish Head in Black Bean (taosi) sauce. The fish was very crispy during the first bite, and even though I'm not a fan of black bean, I found this dish to be delicious mainly because of the taosi which blends well with the fried fish.
3 Cup Chicken

3 Cup Chicken

The 3 cup chicken in claypot arrived almost the same time. This was also another strong and rich tasting dish, which is good to be served with rice. The chicken was tender and smooth as chicken thighs were mainly used in this dish.

A decent meal for 3 of us, left us satisfying and most likely will be coming for more in the future.
