Located at LG floor of Summit USJ, next to the car park lift is where a restaurant named Restaurant Penang Favourites is at. As Summit USJ is a regular lunch haunt for me and my colleagues, we've decided to give this shop a try as we've always passed by this shop but never visited it before.

The restaurant is a self-service restaurant in which the customers need to queue up at the cashier to make their orders and then pay on the spot. Seeing that the restaurant is named as Penang Favourites, I presumed that I would not go wrong with Penang food. I then proceed to order the Fried Hor Fun.

It took quite some time to arrive, more than 20 minutes, despite the relatively small crowd. When it arrived, it was steaming hot. The dish was a little too much on the gravy, but too little on everything else. The hor fun was quite little, coupled with some tiny prawns, vegetables and small chicken slices. The gravy was also bland and tasteless, totally not good.

It costs RM6.00, which is overpriced for the kind of ingredients and taste served here. The only good thing about this restaurant is that it is Halal, and I can visit this restaurant with my fellow Muslim colleagues.

Red wine mee suah Cry Sep 27, 2012

Red wine mee suah

Red wine mee suah

My friend brought me over to this shop to try out their mee suah. He said, this is one of the only places that you can savour red wine mee suah. Hearing that, I was already feeling excited. How would a red wine mee suah taste like? So I ordered one bowl. The service was pretty bad as the waitress was showing a long face and literally shove the bowl of mee suah to my face @_@

Anyway the portion was decent for mee suah. There were some fried garlic sprinkled on top of it and mushroom slices as well. The minced meat was minimal, which was a shame. The red wine taste was much too overpowering and I can't taste anything else other than the red wine. It just killed the mee suah and in the end I couldn't finish the bowl. I did finish the rest of the mushroom although they were tasteless. Or probably it was te fault of the red wine.

After separating from my friend, I had to buy some buns to fill the rest of my stomach. I would not recommend this place at all.

Tasteless fruit Cry Sep 27, 2012

After meal, we thought of having some fruits from the fruit stall. Actually I had a bad feeling when I saw the fruits in the stall. They look kinda...pitiful. But nonetheless, cannot judge a book by its cover. I got a packet of guava. After a bite without the assam, I regretted it. I quickly went back for some assam. The guava was tasteless and rough. It was also hard to chew. Even with the assam, I wouldn't recommend it.

Kampar noodles Cry Sep 25, 2012

Kampar noodles

Kampar noodles

Seems like there weren't much patrons to the kampar noodles stall, I decided to order from them. I had the kuey teow and yellow noodles mix again in dry sauce. When reached the noodles got stuck together. I had to mix it with some soup to separate them. It wasn't very appetizing. However, the yong taufu was thick with meat and only had the taufu skin wrapped. The fish balls and other fried stuffs were quite standard. Overall it's not something I would go back for again...

Jelly mooncake Cry Sep 23, 2012

Blueberry cheese jelly mooncake

There's this cake stall that became a bit more creative. They were selling jelly mooncakes. Using the Mooncake Festival's gimmick, there were 4 types of fillings, red bean, cheese, pandan and the original lotus. As for the flavours, there were too many to list. Just look at the color shades on the table. I got the blueberry cheese jelly mooncake. It was expected that it will not be authentic. But it taste was very powdery and with fake blueberry taste, the cheese was also the same, it wasn't real cheese but cheese jelly. Other than that, it's not sweet, quite bouncy.
